A lot will depend on midfield. If we win that battle and get good ball in our FF line we will beat Galway easily but if Galway win some decent possession they have some good lively forwards who could cause us problems.

There FB line looks weak, but they were sharp enough in the middle third against Donegal

Looking at the Galway full back line in their last two games, I'm sure Donaghy, Geaney and James O are licking their lips at the prospect of this game. I'm sure Galway will get lots of bodies back to protect this line which will mean their attack will be blunted. Its also a problem for Galway who dont ever really seem comfortable playing with a few extra defenders as it really isnt in their footballing culture to do so.
Kerry need not be at their best on Sunday and having this game in the mix with 20 minutes to go should help preparations for the semi final. However as there was the possibility of meeting Mayo on Sunday I figure training was configured a bit different this year than recent years and Kerry should be sharper on Sunday than they have for quarter finals against the likes of Clare, Cavan and so on.
Galway players redeemed themselves against Donegal for their horrendous performance against Roscommon. They will probably be satisfied with that and can head off and enjoy the Races next Monday. Kerry to win by 6-9 points.

Both Lower Cusack & Lower Hogan sold out already. Looking like a crowd of 50,000-60,000 will be in attendance which is surely more than originally anticipated.

Prob a few factors re attendance: 1. Its not the Bank Hol weekend, most Dublin based workers will remain in the capital this weekend. As a large cohort from the 4 counties work in Dublin, they will delay their exodus home for another week. 2. Rosc unexpectedly won Connaught and will travel in good numbers, and particularly as it might be their last day out in 2017. 3. Mayo think its their year again and are building momentum. Mayo are seriously well supported. 4. Kerry have been starved of action and so interest among fans is I suspect higher than normal. 5. Galway GAA is on an upward trajectory what with the u21s, hurlers and now footballers claiming notable scalps.
All in all, reason to expect a decent turnout on Sunday.

It'll be interesting to see who the majority of the neutral supporters of the teams involved will be supporting. Probably... Kerry and Galway supporting Roscommon, Mayo supporting Galway Roscommon supporting Kerry

Kerry should be winning this one. Hard to know what kind of Galway team you will get. Terrible against Roscommon. Good v Donegal. They do have some good players. Heaney is a good player and forms a decent partnership with Conroy. Moran and Maher will have to be on their game. Armstrong up front is lively and will cause problems if he gets enough supply. Cummins and Meehan off the bench for the last 20 minutes could also give us trouble.
Like buck says their full back line looks suspect and if we supply Geaney Donaghy and O'Donoghue with good ball they could take them to the cleaners. Overall our bench looks stronger. Kerry will probably start the same team v Cork. O'Brien will probably be the first in with Buckley Barry John Darren and Barry also coming on. Killian will be the first back in. Lyne will be another option. Sean O'Shea playing good football this year would love to see him come in late in the game if Kerry are winning. Shanahan another option for the Backs. Is Sheehan injured ?.
It's hard to see Kerry losing but Galway have nothing to lose and will give it a right go. Kerry need to come out fast like against Cork and get some quick scores will take the crowd right out of the game. The other two Counties will be shouting for Galway you can be sure of it.

I know a couple of Rossies and Mayo men who would shout for anyone ahead of Galway. Or maybe just not show up until their game is due to start.

Galway are a team that will definitely suit our style of football and should we prevail we will be meeting either Mayo or Roscommon, again teams that play football that we have been raised on. Kerry have struggled with the extended break before a quarter only with Down. That day we were like Galway against the Rossies, the guns were at the wrong trajectory and we were over run by a team that we should have torn apart limb from limb, a lesson not soon forgotten I hope. We have a serious full forward line and their fullback line is probably their weakest link, if we break even on at least three of the other four lines we should land without and alarms sounding in my opinion. The quandary is what game will Walsh come with, he probably will park the buss for most of the first half as he did adainst Kildare in the first half of the Division 2 Final. He is certain to try to be still holding out tails as the first half ends, regardless he has to turn on all taps at some stage as Galway have to go for the throat if they are to beat the Kingdom. If we are tuned in and as was stated above we have been training as if we were meeting Mayo then their should be a well focused Kerry team running out into the Coliseum on Sunday and we should do the business. Anything else could invite a game of their lives from the Tribesmen, at the end of the day it's the last eight,,,

I think this is just the game Kerry needs at this stage. It is a potential banana skin, but only if Kerry allow it to be. Kerry should still be sweeping past Galway if they have Sept intentions/ambitions. I've been of the opinion for a while that Donegal are vastly overrated. They've been in steady decline for the past couple of years. They are now bearing the costs of the McGuiness era, the pace/tactics set then could not be maintained over a long period.. I would not read too much into Galway's huge win over them, the fact that they beat them is an indicator that they are a threat, but realistically Donegal were playing with 13 men for 20 min or so, and missing their best player for that time also. Its a good game for Kerry as I think Galway do have a few strong forwards. I saw Ian Burke in action out in Boston a few summers ago and he can be lethal when on form, and their midfield is quite strong too.. I'd expect our forwards to be too strong for their back line.. If Kerry get out of the gates fast, then I can't see how Galway would have the man power to beat us?

What's the ticket situation looking like? Fairly poor selection online, especially for kids tickets, anyone after getting tickets from the Kerry GAA store in Killarney or other local places that can tell me that things aren't as bleak as they are online?

The build up to this game feels ominously like the build up to the u21 match against the same opposition ...

True, but I'm sure Eamonn will drill this into the players and remind them of the outcome of that particular game. A lot will depend on which Galway shows up Kerry should have too much if we are tuned in. Terrace tickets available now too so there will be a healthy crowd and a good atmosphere anyway.

The handicap is 6 points which is about right. Kerry should be putting Galway away comprehensively enough.

Real shame this game isn't on in Limerick. Dublin based supporters aside, the Gaelic Grounds would be ideal for both counties on this occasion. Would no doubt attract a bigger crowd too and generate a much better atmosphere than Croker.

After Kerry, Galway have produced the best footballers and most free flowing teams down through the years so we will have a “football” game at least. Kerry should be professional enough not to be caught and should win the game.
Galway did run through the centre when Kerry played them a couple of years ago. They can test the defence again. The Dublin forwards lost their markers very easily in the Leinster final even if Westmeath were very poor. Kerry must prepare for that. In this game against a talented but limited attack, the Kerry defence must show they can close down the attack and avoid any scary moments.
Overall I don’t see Eamonn showing his hand in any way so the margin could be modest.
