Will change title when we know who we are playing.
Who do we want to play, I'd say Donegal need a good challenge and think they may be most likely to give us a tough game.
Want to bring my 8 year old to it, any thoughts on tickets. Guessing won't go on sale until previous Monday. Tickets on line are poor usually. Any thoughts?

How could we be meeting Mayo? If they beat Cork they would take the place of the Munster runners up, who are drawn to meet the Connaught winners provided they have not met already.

Definitely want to play Mayo personally. The time is ripe.

I think it is safe to say that retirement is a concept that most players choose not to think about in any great detail. I’m sure Brendan has made a careful, reasoned decision based on all the important issues and in the best interest of himself and his young family that will now fill the void that the training routine filled for many years. He has been a great servant to Kerry football and he carries my sincere best wishes for the future. A proper gentleman.

I had forgotten about this angle. So the quarter final pairings are set in stone: Kerry v Donegal/Galway Roscommon v Cork/Mayo Is that right? Hard to see anything other than a Kerry v Mayo semi final if that's the case.

Potentially need to beat Donegal, Mayo and Dublin to win the All-Ireland. Great stuff. More big games urgently needed in the summer.

Galway can't play Ros, Cork can't play Kerry. Donegal can play either, Mayo can play either. If either Cork or Galway or both win there's no draw. If Donegal and Mayo win there's a draw to see which of them plays which provincial winner.

I expect Donegal and Mayo to win. Which of those would we prefer? Which would best prepare us for Dublin?

Very plausible scenario that we play both Mayo and Donegal (if successful against whichever one of them we draw in the Q-final). To win Sam back would then require beating Tyrone or Dublin (most likely one of those two anyway). It will be hard earned, since our only opponents thus far have been Div 2 or just promoted from Div 3.

Anyone think the whole forum is very quiet compared to last year. If I remember there was a lot of negative comments after the exit last year. Lots of contributors depressed etc., time to come out of the woodwork!!!

Lots of contributors depressed etc., time to come out of the woodwork!!! There will always be negative, subjective comments in the aftermath of a game. Last year….. A lot of positive and constructive criticism as well! It will only get worse this year. If and when Kerry and Mayo clash the losing supporters may be calling for the guillotine regarding their manager.

I would say this forum gets busier when Kerry lose or play badly rather than win. The league this year was a good example. People tend to come on here to vent. There is not a lot to vent about at the moment.

There is not a lot to vent about at the moment. Don't think that's entirely fair - check out some other online venues if you want to see real ranting. Fact is we've had one competitive game, which was 6 weeks ago, and a damp squib of a Munster final 3 weeks after that. We don't know yet what our next game is. Team is reasonably settled and looks ok, if not spectacular, to date. So there's not a lot to talk about really and I suppose this is just reflective of the stop-wait-start nature of the championship.

Are we the 2pm or 4pm game or what are the timings? It's likely that the Kerry game will get top billing here considering we will be playing Mayo, Donegal or Galway. So a late exit from Dublin beckons.

The immediate intriguing call that the management has to make is who gets the No. 16 jersey. I imagine that Brian Kelly is now regarded as the first choice keeper and is in pole position for the remainder of our journey in this Championship. If you go back anything beyond a few pages on this Forum it becomes obvious that a lot of people want to see Shane Ryan between the post sooner rather than later. I too have always regarded him highly and have no doubt that he has all the attributes of a top class keeper. But the immediate intriguing call that the management has to make is who gets the No. 16 jersey for our next game? Having posed the question, it’s only right that I should give my own opinion for what it's worth! Long term, I would like to see all three, Kelly, Murphy and Ryan battle it out for the No. 1 and 16 jerseys and may the best prevail. All three are excellent shot stoppers. Brian Kelly has the experience but his kick out would not be as good as the other two. Shane Ryan does not have senior experience right now but has all the ‘minerals' otherwise and the best of the three under a high ball. Shane Murphy too is top class and probably the best kicker - particularly smart on the kick out and 45’s. Realistically, we are blessed to have that quality of backup talent to choose from. Right now and for the remainder of the Championship I would give that jersey to Shane Murphy.

Supposedly Galway do win, what's your opinion on their full back line and the high ball? Thinking of it when remembering Sweeney's second goal last year was from a high ball in

Nope, unless Brolly can get them in on a technicality. However, once again the Ulster champions will likely be playing the Dubs in the semi.
