John Mitchels in Division 7 doesnt look good for them.
Striking to see all the amalgamated teams from South Kerry in Division 8, presumably playing 13 a side.

Fair old spread of clubs - probably around the 50 different clubs represented I'd imagine as well which is a good sign.
Also interesting to be checking out the clubs and the surnames - reading down through it, I was doing a fair bit of wondering about potential son of/brother of/nephew of/grandson of lads who represented the clubs in question.

Some serious talent there. Very strong Kerry U17 team next year. Oba and Kelleher very good Goalkeepers. Alex O'Connor from Milltown another good keeper but playing soccer now. Owen Fitzgerald, Daniel O'Sullivan, Mark Cooper, Dan McCarthy, David Mangan, Dan Murphy can play wing forward also. Sean Óg Moran, Dara Barry Walsh, Conor Flannery can play in the forwards also. Eric Daly, Kieran O'Donoghue, Colin Moriarty all going for 6 spots. Darragh Lyne, Paul O'Shea, Sean Quilter, all good midfielders. It will be really hard to make the Forwards.
Cathal O’Beaglaoich ( An Ghaeltacht) for the North U15s exciting player has all the skills. Adam Curran ( Austin Stacks) will cover every blade of grass for you. Tremendous worker. You could play him half back or half forward I think. For the South. Gearoid Hassett high scoring forward.
For the North U14s. Armin Heinrich very talented player. Shane Bastible gets a lot of scores. For the south. William Casey promising Goalkeeper. The two Laune Rangers boys Russell and Moriarty skillful players. All in all the panels are very strong with some good players left out also.

I watched a fantastic game of Football on Wednesday night between Dr.Crokes and Austin Stacks in the Division 1 u16 semi final. Some fantastic attacking Football played by both sides. Two well coached teams and a credit to their Clubs. The game ended in a draw. Went to extra time still level. Some great scores and play on both sides. You will see players from both sides on the Kerry u17 panel next year.
No news when the replay is on. Legion beat Rathmore in the other semi final. They await the winners.

The football was brilliant, the atmosphere was even better. No shouting at the players or officials. Supporters mingling freely. A Stacks player went down early in the game, and was treated by the Crokes physio. That's class. I can give out with the best of them about loudmouth muppets at juvenile games; it's only fair to acknowledge when two clus get it right.

There was a moment in the drawn game between Mayo and Roscommon when a Roscommon player went down injured and the ref didnt seem to notice. The play moved towards the Canal End. Lee Keegan didnt follow the play but attended the Roscommon player and stood beside him and signalled for assistance.
It was a class act from the much derided Lee Keegan

U16 County Hurling Cup Final: Crotta O'Neills 3-12 Ballyheigue 0-7
There was a big and enthusiastic crowd of supporters for both sides in Tom Healy Park, Abbeydorney, as Crotta O'Neills and Ballyheigue faced off for the County Championship Cup Final and they were well rewarded with some sparkling hurling – Waterford and Cork wasn't the only great hurling game on last Sunday! No doubt the League Final which had seen the two sides square off, with Ballyheigue taking the honours, had whetted the appetite. The first half was a tight affair, bothy sides gauging each other with fast and controlled hurling. Ballyheigue edged the posession stakes, but 0-5 from the deadly accurate James Sheehan had Crotta leading by 0-6 to 0-5 at half-time. Crotta were able to up it a gear in the second half and laid siege to the Ballyheigue goal to take their first ever U16 crown in fine style. Chairman Coiste na nÓg Tomn Keane presented the cup to winning captain James Sheehan. Crotta O'Neills: Darragh Murnane, Sean McGrath, Ryan McElligott, Jack McKenna, Killian Trant, Daniel O'Rourke, Aodhan Behan, Declan O'Donoghue, Aodhan McKenna, Denis Quille, Seanb Murnane, James Sheehan (capt.), Eoin Relihan, Tomas Dillon, Denis Nolan. Subs Donnacha Sayers, Cillian Baker, Darragh Keane, Gavin Parker, Rory O'Mahony, Kian Hickewy, Tadhg McKenna, Aaron McElligott. Ballyheigue: Jamie Lee, Jack Stack, Darren Stack, Jordan Goggin, Thomas Gaynor, Ruaidhri Duggan, Jimmy O'Halloran, Ciaran Casey, Ricky Hussey, Nathan Guerin, Conor O'Sullivan, Daniel O'Loughlin, David O'Mahony, Graham Slattery, Luke McCrohan. Subs Aidan Reidy, Brian Styles, Seami Ó Fuarain, Colin Walsah.
U16 County Hurling Plate Final: Ballyduff 4-7 Kenmare/Kilgarvan 2-4 Ballyduff and Kenmare/Kilgarvan served up a fine game of hurling in Lewis Rd. last Sunday, but Kenmare/Kilgravan were unfortunately missing a few of their top guns and a very sharp, very skillful Ballyduff side made them pay the price. The winners drew first blood with Ethan O'Connor neatly chipping over. Jake Brosnan added a beauty from long range and once Dylan Moriarty cleverly worked the sliotar into full forward Sean Lucid. A foul on Tomás Creedon saw Jack Foley open Kenmare/Kilgarvan's account, while Ethan O'Connor replied in kind after a foul on James McCarthy. In truth, Kenmare/Kilgarvan were getting good possession and battling hard, but struggling to penetrate a superb Ballyduff. When they did get through, Darragh Quinlan made a superb save to deny Dan McCarthy, but a very industrious Padraig Cronin did finally get in for a fantastic goal. However, the cheers had hardly died down before Ballyduff struck for Sean Lucid's second goal and Aidan O'Connor added another. Jack Foley and James McCarthy closed out the half strongly to keep Kenmare/Kilgarvan in the hunt. Half-time Ballyduff 3-3 Kenmare/Kilgarvan 1-3 Ballyduff opened the second half just as strongly as the first, pointing through Jake Brosnan from distance and Kevin Goulding adding a majestic effort. Dylan Moriarty swung over a free before a long ball from Kevin Ghoulding deceived everybody – again, Lucid was key to the pressure inside – and dropped into the net. Dylan Moriarty made it 4-7 to 1-3. Kenmare/Kilgarvan remained staunch and undaunted, with Jack Foley's superbly struck free deflected over the crossbar by Darragh Quinlan. Aidan O'Connor added a Ballyduff goal but Quinlan had to be just as superb twice more against Cian O'Sullivan and James McCarthy before Tomas Creedon finally got in for a Kenmare/Kilgarvan goal. It was only consolation at that stage though, with the final whistle sounding shortly after. Chairman Coister na nÓg Tom Keane presented the Plate to Ballyduff captain Stephen O'Carroll. Ballyduff: Darragh Quinlan, Kyle O'Connor, Padraig Walsh, Stephen O'Carroll (capt.), J.P. O'Carroll, Darragh Slattery, Daniel Kennelly, Jake Brosnan (0-2), Kevin Goulding (1-0), Dylan Moriarty (0-2, 1f), Liam Dowling, Andrew Murphy, Aidan O'Connor (1-0), Sean Lucid (2-0), Ethan O'Connor (0-2, 1f). Subs Aaron McCarthy, Johnny Kennelly, Sean O'Connor, Martin Brosnan-Mannix, Aaron McCabe, Eric Daly. Kenmare/Kilgarvan: Senan Sheehy, Eoin O'Shea, Mark Looney, Eugene O'Sullivan, Tommy Cronin, Kieran Harrington, Cian O'Sullivan, Jack Foley (0-3, 2f), Tomás Creedon (1-0), Darragh Creedon, James McCarthy (0-1), Padraig Cronin (1-0), Cian Hanley, Dan McCarthy, Ronan Murphy. U16 County League Football Finals
Division One: Austin Stacks 4-14 Killarney Legion 1-15 Stacks were always in control here, leading by 1-5 to 0-3 after the first quarter. Sean Quilter, outstanding in midfield alongside Adam Curran, started the ball rolling with two long range frees and Cian Purcell's goal, after the excellent Christian Casey had parried Joe Bastible's initial effort, had them in command, Niall McGillicuddy striking three Legion frees. Two goals in a minute from Purcell and Coinor Myers, who fielded the kickout and surged through, was a gap that Legion could never close, despite heroic efforts from Darragh Lyne around the middle and razor-sharp corner forwards Ryan O'Grady and Niall McGillicuddy. They trailed by 3-5 to 0-6 at the break but rallied impressively to close the gap to 3-8 to 1-10, but Stacks with superb teamwork pressed on again and a late goal by the excellent Conor Myers closed it out and sealed the title.
Division Two: Na Gaeil 4-15 Firies 1-18 (Match Report by Na Gaeil) Na Gaeil U16 dreams were realized in a windy Austin Stacks park last Wednesday evening. This group of players began preparations for this game last December when at a team meeting the Management of Liam Goggin, Billy O Brien and Tim Lynch lay down the marker that the year would not be considered successful unless a Co League title was achieved. Commitment was demanded and the training started. Dylan Seymour put the team through their paces with graded gym sessions over the winter and in the spring the Running started!! Intervals became the norm and we developed one of the fittest teams in the county. We kept our focus and we had four wins out of five in the League stages with wins over Churchill, Firies, Dingle and Miltown Castlemaine. Incidentally, we never won the toss including in the Final!! We reached the final as table toppers and were treated to a fantastic game of football by this wonderful group of players in Austin Stack Park last Wednesday evening. Firies were a very difficult team to break down. Their point scoring and man marking was excellent. There was a great sense of occasion with a large vocal support for both teams .We started proceedings with the national anthem and soon got down to business on a perfect pitch thanks to the Co. Board staff . Firies started the stronger, having won the toss and playing with the wind and went into an early lead. We took time to settle and found it difficult to put our stamp on the game. Firies certainly had their homework done and disrupted our Kick outs and looked sharper in the early exchanges. Ruari O Sullivan ensured we were not further behind doing some great work at full back. We went to the dressing rooms five points down but our heads were still up and we knew we had been in this position before. We had a team talk at half time, made a few switches and suddenly we were on top. Goals from Jack Sheehan and Darragh Reen and some wonderful free taking from Matthew Burke and great link up play from Tomas O’Hanafin, Liam Rice, Jack Bourke and Jack O Brien and Tom Walsh earlier in the game put us out of reach in a thrilling encounter. Shane Daly as usual was a giant in Goals and is improving with every game. Corner backs Jimi O Suilleabhain and Mikey Clifford intercepted balls with Jimi doing some of his customary breaks forward to supply the forwards. Adam Burke showed some great form and indeed this was his best performance of the year. Enda O Connor and Basit Oyebanji worked tirelessly to disrupt an excellent Firies attack and kept the scores from the Firies half forward line to a minimum. Tadhg Lynch and Seamus Harty won some great ball around the middle and supplied the forwards with accurate well-placed ball ensuring many scoring opportunities. Daire Doyle O Brien and Cian Devine came on and were an integral part of this memorable evening. Thanks to Liam Óg Kingston, Jamie Fitzgerald, Tadhg Reen and Graham Sheehy who were our U14 members of this exceptional panel. Tadhg Lynch collected the trophy from Reggie Griffin and the celebrations started. We travelled in convoy to Killeen and were treated to a hero’s welcome. Thanks to Sean and staff for the food. Thanks to all who supported us on the night and indeed throughout the year. Congratulations to all involved. Final score Na Gaeil 4-15 Firies 1-18 The future of Na Gaeil is Bright
Divison Three Gneeveguilla 3-21 Beaufort 3-6 Gneeveguilla dominated in all sectors with David Gleeson and Ronan Collins providing the platform at midfield together with attacking wingbacks Eoghan O’Rahilly and Patrick Brosnan. Early Gneeveguilla points from Ronan Collins and Eoghan O’Rahilly wasfollowed by a Danny O’Callaghan goal before Beaufort’s only score of the opening twenty minutes saw Jack Hallissey cut through the winners defence before setting up Keith Floyd for a well taken goal. Tadgh O’Connor then denied Beaufort’s best player Jack O’Connor another goal but Gneeveguilla took over and Paul O’Leary scored 2-2 in a seven minute spell as his side moved 3-5 to 1-0 clear by the 20 th minute. Jack O’Connor added three points for Beaufort but he was their sole threat and Gneeveguilla added another goal from Jamie O’Leary and points from Paul O’Leary and Danny O’Callaghan to lead 4-7 to 1-3 at half time, making the second half purely academic. Beaufort tried hard but only added a point in the third quarter as Gneeveguilla adding six points, Paul O’Leary with three frees. A Jamie O’Leary goal effectively finished the game as a contest. Beaufort never stopped trying though out of their depth and were rewarded with two goals, one from the penalty spot by the excellent Jack O’Connor and the other from marauding wingback Shane O’Sullivan-Rouse.
Division Four: Knock/Brosna/Duagh 4-17 Castlegregory 1-14 A very young Castlegregory team (10 of whom are eligible next year) raced into an early lead and were ahead by 4 points to 1. However, Knock/Brosna/Duagh rallied to score 1-3 without reply and from then dominated the game until the final whistle.
Division Five: Kilcummin 7-21 Currow 3-11 His cousin David Clifford had the whole counbtry talking about his display withg the Kerry minors, but Paul O'Shea in the Fitzgerald Stadium was no less impressive. He had 3-2 notched up by the end of the first quarter and added another 1-2 before the break to leave Kilcummin ahead by 4-8 to 0-8. Centre forward Conor Sheehan was outstanding for Currow as they battled bravely, but Cian Foley struck for another Kilcummin goal on the restart. They had the luxury of bringing O';Shea out fromn full forward to the middle, where he still ran the show, while Foley ended up notching 2-2 in the second half.
Division Six: Fossa 6-17 Ballyduff 5-11 (Match Report by Fossa) 11 goals, each one a cracker and a total of 37 scores explains the exciting flow of the game. Ballyduff scored the first one straight from the throw-in, but Killian Buckley replied in kind after a Joe Cahillane point. Emmett O'Shgea added three points before cutting loose with three superb goals. An undaunted Ballyduff came back at Fossa but trailed by 4-10 to 2-5. Game over? Not a chance! Ballyduff came out for the second half with all guns blazing ... a goal immediately on the restart and within 20 minutes Ballyduff had hauled back that 11 point lead and were now one point up with 7 minutes to go, before seeing two goal chances brilliantly denied...Fossa's turn to rise, Conor Horgan nipping in for a great goal. Points from Emmet O'Shea and Jack Clifford put them four clear before Eoin Talbot sealed victory with a last goal in a real thriller. Division Seven: Finuge 4-9 Moyvane/Tarbert 4-8 Match Report by Micheal Collins On Wednesday night Finuge played Moyvane/Tarbert in Coolard, Ballydonoghue. referee for the night was Tom O'Sullivan {Clounmacon}. The second half started off good for the trailing team as Micheál Fogarty was running through the defense and hit a raspier of a shot off the crossbar and Niall Haugh was there to palm it into the net. Then Finuge's Thomas Barrett scored Finuge's third goal to put them ahead. Moyvane then got a goal of their own as Micheál Fogarty was the was one on one with the keeper but fail to score as Gavin Leen Finuge's keeper pulled off a magnificent save but it was not enough as Niall Haugh was there to pass the ball into an empty net. Thanks himself. Good standard this year. I saw a lot of games. Stacks definitely the best team in Kerry at this level. Looking at the players this year. I would say Kerry U17s will be close next year to winning it.

Are Kerry going with proposal to change under age groups to U-11,U-13 & U-17?
(Word is that most Leinster & Connacht counties doing this following on change in inter county Minor from U-18 to U-17)

No. Kerry had a meeting to discuss it, the mood on the floor was heavily against, and Kerry stated at the next County Board meeting that they would be voting accordingly. However, Croke Park will not be putting this to an open vote. My impression is that it will be implemented from the top regardless of counties' wishes

Are we looking at East Kerry again for this title Na Crocaigh or himself?
Unlimited subs seems to be a strange rule, and will certainly benefit East Kerry and Tralee District you would imagine.

Eoghan Ruadh would be considered favourites, with East Kerry next behind them. I remain a bit sceptical of that reading, given that Austin Stacks are very much the strongest U16 club team and West Kerry includes a number of players from the Paul McGirr U16.5 Colleges Final last year (one of the best games all year in any grade, in my honest opinion). I would be very slow to call it, but the players and parents that I have spoken to seem to be thinking along the above lines. I saw Kenmare and St. Brendans play out an extra-time cracker in Kenmare and I know Mid Kerry have put in some very strong work at undereage. I must admit that I have had no look at Shannon Rangers this year. The fact that these games will almost certainly feature next year's Kerry minors should create added interest (I hope so, anyway!) As regards the unlimited subs rule, I am totally in favour of it. I know it's an advantage to the more populated areas, but the alternative is to have a lot of players give a big commitment to training, etc., without ever getting a chance to play in these competitions. My own focus, and I believe that of Coiste na nÓg, is on giving EVERY player, not just the most talented ones, the most opportunities we can. Unlimited subs isn't a perfect solution, by any means, but I personally believe it is the better approach in the long run.
