Yes. Why not ? Discount the performance in Killarney. I expect them to be in the mix without necessarily winning. There could be one huge performance in them to take a bigger dog out. Wouldn't be the first time. A lack of cutting edge will probably mean an even greater emphasis on defence this year. Can you replace them with another team Ardfert ? No. I'd just leave them out completely. Ha ha but sure I'd love to leave the Dubs out completely too but I can't without good reason. So Ardfert....why not Tyrone. You have to convince me with reasoned argument.

If ever there was comprehensive evidence that we are being dramatic when we talk about pulling, dragging and cynicism all being modern concepts in football- that is it! The football is muck and every tackle is more or less a foul!

Gentleman Jim makes his point in his usual passive aggressive manner. Ref also bottled a few Dublin red cards so Gavin does have a point I guess.

I wonder does gavin think it fair to referees that they have to ref counties that they actually live and work in as well as being part of the local gaa fabric.

If joe, gough or coldrick reffed the league final, dublin would have won it. Thats the message gavin is giving. He is entirely correct.
He wants normal service resumed

He wants normal service resumed Thats exactly the message I was reading between the lines looking at that a while ago. He fails to mention that Coldrick is an experienced referee and he failed to give a blatant penalty to Kerry in the 2015 All Ireland Final. Was it the occasion (or his wife and colleagues) that got to Coldrick that day.

Look, he prefers refs from Dublin clubs to ref Dublin matches - who could blame him?

If the best refs in the land live in Dublin that is an issue.
But it is tough titty on Dublin.
If Gavin is giving out about refs something is giving --- champions don't let the ref play a role in the result.

It's a classic Jose Mourinho tactic. You were beaten by the better team so deflect the spotlight of what's wrong with your own team put the focus on the ref. Surprised he didn't do it earlier.

Which county did he manage? The aul soccer analogies are creeping in more and more on here. Even the great Blue Panther made one. If I wanted soccer analogies I'd go to Hoganstand. I love when someone watching soccer makes a GAA analogy all the same. Bah-humbug!

So McQuillan & Gough only from now on is it Jim? McQuillan was the ref who gave Connolly the black card in Monaghan, referenced by Gavin this interview.

The reality is that over the past number of years I've always said that there's just a bounce of the ball between the teams; we saw that in the National Football League final this year and the All-Ireland series last year and in previous years. "That's the reality and that was borne out a few weeks back."

He was the ref who black carded Kieran Hughes, Monaghans key midfielder, after about 15 minutes of the game for what he determined was a deliberate trip. It was a worse call than the black card for Connolly. But dont bother mentioning that.

That ref was McQuillan, or as you lads like to call him "Dublin Joe".

Serene zen Jim getting a bit jumpy? Strange he announced his two year extension so early in the season. Why the hurry? So what is the narrative here?

Probably getting it out of the way before it becomes a story during the Championship. And seriously who else is going to manage Dublin for the next few years? Remember he had a very good League campaign (apart from the small matter of the Final) ending up three points ahead of the nearest teams and they are still the team most likely to lift Sam. Not a good sign resorting to blaming the referee though.

Just getting his retaliation in first. Feed the Media something. Especially after that Roscommon ref missing(or turning a blind eye)to a blatant penalty at the end of League final. Imagine if that was the other way round. I'm sure you guys would have found out he lived in Dublin at some stage of his life and he would be chalked down as another Official that shouldn't be allowed ref or do the line involving Dublin v Kerry 😉

Great to see nice guy Jim being a bit rattled. The narrative of Dublin as a cynical team? Thats quite hilarious- who has said this? I may have missed it but I havent seen 6/7 former players from any county coming out and saying this about Dublin in advance of a match.
He is trying his best to formulate some kind of siege mentality but it's more Mike Bassett than Alex Ferguson (sorry for the soccer reference!!)

So if pointing out refs inconsistencies means you're rattled then Fitzmaurice has been rattled most of his managerial life ye? As too have certain members on this forum who continue to be rattled by the 2011 defeat. Duly noted!
