Referencing Fionn as finished based on admittedly very bad game on Ciaran Kilkenny in last year's league final, is beyond unfair. He more than served his punishment for it, don't think he played again last year. He made the the team 4 years ago and had acquitted himself very admirably. FFS, give the man a break. The comparison with Murph is well made. He will fill a roll, so please back the man.

Fionn is very comfortable on the ball, well balanced and looks easy on the eye.Compared favourably to Marc O Se in that regard. But he wouldn't be the first cousin of a man marker.Fouls too much and tell me the last forward he shut down.A role that suits his talents has yet to be found.

Fionn Fitzgerald is a nice tidy player, steady on the ball with a good temperament but at the highest level the man has physically been found badly wanting. We’ve seen him being bullied and thrown around the place like a rag doll enough. How I longed for the days of seeing Tom Sullivan back on patrol when I saw the bird like frame of Fionn trying to hold out Paddy Andrews. Given our circumstances Fionn can plug a gap in certain games but for me he simply does not have the required physique or stopping power at this level.

A lot will depend on which Kerry team turns up. The one that wanted to beat Dublin or the one that didn't seem too bothered against Monaghan. The one constant with Kerry over the past five years in the league is inconsistency and what often appears to be indifference at times to the league. Well they better have the right attitude on Sunday because a loss puts Kerry in serious relegation trouble. For sure. Must win game. Cavan have Ros in last game so very capable of beating them. So if Cavan beat us we'll be in trouble. We would have to beat Tyrone. Mayo also in the mix and have Tyrone away and Donegal at home. Mayo could conceivably lose both those too.

Daithi casey deserved a chance. No sign of him. Fionn is young enough to get a second wind and kick start his career. Mccarthy at 11 is interesting. Kerry will have to start getting five or six points from play from the half forward line. Kealy ....does this mean that the rotation policy is at an end. Exactly. Daithi Casey is surely better than Mike Geaney. He's hanging on there for years doing sweet FA. Eamonn definitely has his favourites and Mike is one of them. Mikey is and Daithi most certainly isn't a favourite for whatever reason. Definitely Casey deserves a shot over Mikey Geaney and Jonathan Lyne and probably others too..

Hi, thinking of heading to Cavan tomorrow, wonder could one get a ticket at stadium easily. Hi Kerryfanatic, the capacity of that stadium is around 32k. Tickets should be easy enough to get from those vans outside. I think the Dubs for all their travelling support only filled it to 16,000. We will get nowhere near that so you will be grand out.

Fionn F will be fine. Prior experience counts for a lot. He's slight and has had difficulties with some opponents but has also played some fine games for Kerry. I was damned glad he was around to score an equaliser against Cork in 2015.
Many in the county have scratched their heads about Daithi Casey but he has been involved with Kerry previously on a number of occasions but has never seemed to bed in. Perhaps his game is perfectly suited to Crokes but not to the demands of inter county. Mikey Geaney is getting a slating on this forum. As far as I remember he only came onto the panel in 2014 and had a great season. It looked like we had a new Paul G type of player winning breaks and playing aggressively around the middle third. He has been buckled with injuries since and is only now coming back into form. Maybe some forum users have short memories.

In 2014 against Mayoin the drawn semi final Mayo didn't even put a man on him. Instead they double marked James O'D. Think Mikey scored a point and didn't do much else and ended up getting taken off.

If we lose against Cavan, we are in serious risk of relegation especially if Mayo beats Tyrone. But if we win or draw, we are safe.
In relation to the Crokes players, is it just Fiona that is back? Is Johnny Buckley back training with Kerry? Or Tony Brosnan who came on as a sub in the QF. Daithi's last time training with Kerry didn't work out but with his performance with Crokes, it would be worth given him another go.

Fair play to all the diehard supporters travelling to Cavan today. Ye have a great dry day for it anyway. One really hopes that this is a day that Kerry start to cut loose.

The physical attributes lacking in Fionn are well made in fairness. Given he's a strength and conditioning trainer it is surprising he hasn't made some adjustments here given what Kilkenny did to him last year. Wing back looks a better fit, as he has good composure, awareness and excellent ball skills.
Tom, world class.09 performance on Brogan B, was his finest to my mind, a destruction.

Given the repeated replication of starting teams, it may be that Eamonn has closed on his graduates for 2017?

Going to this game. Any decent pub/hotel near the ground for a bit of lunch before the game?

Where the F is he going with Fionn. Hanging about for years......going no where. Sorry and I hate criticising any one who pulls on the jersey but Fionn's day is past as far as I'm concerned What are you on about? Hanging around for years??? On what grounds are you writing him off? Surely "hanging around for years" covers far more players than Fionn! I take it you didn't watch Crokes over the past number of months. Fionn is more comfortable on the ball than most and also uses it far better than most - a great player to transition defense into attack.

I'm certain Paddy Andrews and Ciaran Kilkenny will be absolutely delighted when they see Fionns name on the Kerry team. That's if we will meet the Dubs again this year. I hate cricticing any man who pulls on the Kerry jersey but I'm afraid Fionn would not be in my plans for the future. I sincerely hope he has a great game today.
I'm long enough in the tooth to remember great Club players but when they were given the Kerry jerseys they wouldn't bate flies off a cow sh..e. Regrettably I count Fionn in the above.

Brutal first half, up 2 points, Cavan with numerous sides. We have given away ball away cheaply time after time.pluses: Moran playing v well, kick outs hitting there men, in general, we have been awful.

Poor stuff. Cavan very defensive and little space inside for the Kerry forwards. Cavans shot selection very poor also

Kerry football is in a depressing state. Playing like a northern team, fouling, halfbacks playing in the forwRds. Backs persistingly fouling. Management more intent on playing negative football. Depressing

Just leaving the ground. We are poor. Very poor. What was donnachadha doing with the shot near the end? Management were poor. Cavan are a poor team. We barely beat the rossies. Look what the dubs did last night.
We have no plan apart from systematic fouling. 14 looks more and more like a lucky all ireland

Listened to game on Radio Kerry.
Painfully frustrating to listen to. Impossible to understand some of the decisions management made since the Dublin game.
Also it sounded like the instincts that always brought Kerry team through games like this in the past has been lost - either coached out of players or not compatible with tactics.

An awful lot of work to be done for the Summer to yield anything. Kerry have done it before though. Listening to RK commentry today was one of the most depressing 70 mins I can remember....ever!
