All joking aside, I agree with the main gist of this thread, respect is a priority. I think also for supporters of my own county, we need to liase with the supporters club itself, and also the League of Ireland, the FAI, and the English Premier League UEFA about control & behaviour of our supporters. The last thing we want is for the hooligans to spoil it for all the normal, genuine Gaels out there around the rest of the country.

Peer pressure behaviour? Haha come on mate- get a grip.
How realistic is it for someone to turn around and ask a lad to pipe down if he is shouting at the ref about a decision or whatever? And if he does then how do you think it will go? This form of vigilantism that you are espousing will just lead to violence amongst fans

Protesting a particular incident or decision is a different thing altogether and I don't imagine many people could have a problem with that; we're not robots after all.

Who said anything about guys making the odd groan at a ref or reacting to something on the field. I do it and so does everyone else. There's a helluva difference between normal spectator behaviour and what I was referring to. If you even bothered to read the original post it was about the orchestrated moronic booing of free takers. I also believe that clowns continually pouring abuse and turning the air blue need to be told to button it. I've seen it done plenty times and done it plenty times myself. No ambulances or Gardai were needed. Vigilantism implies violence. No thanks. Why not try respect
