Reading this forum over the years you'd be inclined to think that Bryan Sheehan was the worst player ever to win 5 All-Ireland medals. Some hilarious stuff in fairness in the parish of contractions! He could well be the worst player ever to win 5 all Ireland medals. That is hardly an insult though given the company he is keeping. Borderline tongue in cheek, some cross to bear Couple of refereeing calls going Kerrys way could have afforded Bryan iconic status in Kerry. McManamon's double hop in 2011 and the same players hit on Crowley in 2016 to name but two.

Worst player ever to win 5 All Irelands is some statement- it's not quite an oxymoron but jeez it's still a ludicrous thing to say

If you wanted to try someone randomly at full forward I'd try Sheehan there long before I'd try David Moran.

Any scéal on Tomás Ó Sé, the dancer who toured the world dancing last year. I read something a few months back that he was going to concentrate on football this year?

The most interesting thing about this game will be attitude Liam Kearns will take. Tipp had a good year last year and he will not want to have a psychological set back by being beaten by an u21 team. If he puts out a strong team he will definitely be looking for a win. If he is not in a position to be sure of a win he will probably put out a team (reserves/ u21's) which if beaten would not be the end of the world.

Killian Spillane would probably be the most likely other forward. Strong enough side . Great to see Shane Ryan back in goals. Eoin O'Brien (Churchill) probably be his backup. Strong back line. You add Gavin White to that and it's very good. Brian Sugrue, Dan O'Donoghue (Spa), Rob Wharton, Dara O'Shea (Kenmare), Patrick Clifford (Templenoe), Mike Breen, and possibly Cormac Coffey would be pushing the panel. John Mark Foley, Liam Kearney and Mark Ryan are other midfielders. Mike Burns, Matt Flaherty, Dara Moynihan, Jordan Kiely, Liam Carey, Cormac Linnane, Cathal Bambury, and Tomas O'Se would be pushing forwards in the team. Jack has a strong panel this year. David Naughton, Jack Morgan, Michael Foley, David Shaw, Evan Cronin, James Dugan are other fellas.

Definitely travelling on Sunday to see this exciting collection of young players. I have no comprehension of why the best wouldn't want to be part of the next decade in Kerry football and create their own legacy in the game.

It will be very interesting to see what type of a team Liam Kerins lines up. As far as I know Tipp are out again on Wednesday against Cork . Presumably , he will split his senior resources.
On a different topic , I bought the golfden years DVD before Christmas but I have not looked at it yet. Going by the negative comments here I may not bother with it. It is extraordinary if Armagh 2006 and Galway 2008 are not referenced. It is surprising that Kerry Group would want to assocaied with a production so sloppy , if the comments here are accurate.

Disappointed that fitzmaurice hasn't taken this opportunity against tipp to blood players who played well in county championship. While it will be a good outing for the under 21s none of these players have starred for there club/district in the county senior championship. Felt it was the ideal opportunity to have a look at players in the 23-25 age bracket who have earned a call up through form in county championship. Some of the players mentioned that are training with Kerry seniors at moment are not picked on form which is fitzmaurices downfall. Savage too young and raw poor county champ and makes bad decisions and Kevin McCarthy the same and also a hot head. Ronan shanahan is an unknown some very strange decisions. What part of the "this will be the under 21 team" do you not understand? Jack O Connor will be managing the team. Anybody who deserves a shot, will be there eventually.

No Killian or Pat Spillane ? Killian is only back in training having missed about 8 weeks through injury- Tomas O'Se I believe returned to the US in Dec and is currently not on the U-21 panel.

Anybody with a report on the game?

Anybody with a report on the game? Kerry were much too strong for Tipp who looked rusty and appeared to have not much done. Kerry were in control in defence with all players dominant but especially Tom O'Sullivan, O'Beaglaoi & Andrew Barry; Jason Foley defended very well, was rarely beaten and generally looked the part. We were on top @ midfield through Barry O'Suilleabhain & O'Seanachain and with Brandon Barrett dropping deep as the free man we gained plenty of possession. As a result, Sean O'Shea, Conor Geaney & Matthew O'Sullivan saw plenty of ball and they put it to good use. We led at half time, 1-8 to 1-2, the goal from a penalty from O'Bambaire after O'Sullivan was fouled. Pick of the scores were two from play from Geaney & Barry O'Sullivan. The second half followed the pattern of the first with Kerry in control , running at Tipp from deep with Andrew Barry & Tom O'Sullivan prominent & Sean O'Shea outstanding on the "40"; feature of the second half were the 2 goals plundered by Matthew O'Sullivan, one when he palmed home after good work by O'Bambaire & the second when he outjumped his opponent to fist to the net. As expected, this is a serious team and with the return of the Crokes contingent plus Killian Spillane, they must be red hot favourites to regain the U-21 title.

Hard to read anything into it' Tipp fairly depleted and appeared disinterested.Matt Flaherty made a difference when introduced. Others to impress Tom O Sullivan O Beaghlaoich, Andrew Barry, O Seanachain Seanie Shea Matt O 'Sullivan who was on hand to convert two goal chances, and Conor Geaney. Micheál Burns, Gavin White, and Jordan Kiely should make first 15 when available.

Kerry 3-11 Tipp 1-3 HT 1-8 1-2
While it was miserable and murky , it was great to get out to see the commencement of inter county football again. It is amazing the appetite people have for football at this time of the year as evidenced by the fine crowd in the stand. It wasn't edge of the seat stuff, no bite, and clearly our lads had the greater incentive to impress and because of their grade it is very likely they had a lot more work done than their opponents.
Familiar names on the Tipp side were: Evan Comerford, Paddy Codd, Jimmy Feehan, Kevin Fahey, Liam Casey, Martin Dunne, Jason Lonergan, Josh Kean, Brian Fox, Conor Sweeney(second half) Robbie Kiely, Alan Moloney, Philip Austin, Jack Kennedy.
Kerry monopolised play in the early stages but were not getting the rewards on the scoreboard. Indeed this obtained all through, due mainly to overdoing the interpassing. Cathal Bambury, a handful all through, kicked the opening point but then Tipp got a goal against the run of play. Philip Austin made a run and found Liam Boland, Jason Foley's man at the time, and Liam scored a fine goal. I thought Jason was a little dozy on that occasion but it was the only time I could point the finger at the Ballydonoghue man. He dominated after that as did Tom O'Sullivan in the left corner ,who scored two points to boot. It must be said the entire Kerry back line as a unit were watertight all through, each on occasions defending in textbook fashion. I will single out Brian O'Beaglaoch for special mention because he was marking that fine player, Philip Austin. Brian maybe a little deficient physically at present but that is his only deficit. Here is a man who fights for the last of the last causes.
Mathew O'Sullvan at full for forward was at the end of a fine movement after the Tipp goal but the ball slipped from his grasp. Barry O'Sullivan was a continual presence at midfield and he ensured that the Kerry forwards did not want for ball. Brian O'Seanachain become more prominent as his assistant as the game progressed. In any case, Kerry began to assert their superiority on the scoreboard and the biggest dividend was realised when Mathew O'Sullivan was fouled in the square. Cathal Bambury expertly converted. It was no more than Kerry deserved.
Scores were painfully slow to come in the early stages of the second half. During that stage Shane Ryan was called on to make a terrific save. It was fairly innocuous stuff from both teams thereafter with defenders being the masters. However, the half did not peter out without perhaps a suggestion that Jack maybe on to something in Mathew O'Sullivan at full forward. He earned the penalty in the first half and won a lot of possession besides. Kerry devised a fine movement as the second half meandered and a very accurate cross was put in by ? Cathal Bambury and Mathew rose high and boxed it home. Later an equally fine cross was slung in by Ivan Parker. It looked as if it would go over everybody and finish wide. However, lightning ,I mean Mathew , soared high once more and powered it home with the fist. It was a fine effort. One of the last times I saw Mathew was in the spring at u21 level when he got two yellow cards. There are still a lot of rough edges there but there were a lot of rough edges on KD and Eoin Liston as well in their formative years. Jack is a shrewd old fox. Who knows what the future holds.
Sean O'Shea and Conor Geaney were prominent in the first half, less so in the second half. Incidentally, how was Sean O'Shea allowed play with his Kenmare engagements? Finally, Brandon Barrett was a study in industry all through . He is the archetypal modern wing forward. I suspect Jack rates this flame haired youth highly.

Not much to add to veteran's report. Andrew Barry motm for me. Himself and Sean O'Shea in particular have the look of real leaders about them. Tom O'Sullivan and Daniel O'Brien also impressed. Shane Ryan looked solid. Foley was caught wrong side for the goal but was otherwise excellent. Matthew O'Sullivan was a real nuisance all day; scored 2 goals and fouled for the penalty.
Tipp weren't great to be fair - scored only one point in the second half.

So on the basis of today, is there anybody from that team who deserve to get a run out in the league in a few weeks time?
