Always gonna be tough with a season ticket with those teams in Division 1...without the Dubs away they are all long roads unless one is not based in Kerry. A product of Cork out and two Ulster teams in. Life slightly easier though for Antrim based supporters! Fixtures that should see Kerry finish in the top four all the same, or have the semi finals being removed for 2017?

I'd imagine the fixtures will be announced in the coming weeks. Just a note that the home / away sequence does not always apply. It has happened down the years we have played a team at home or away two years in a row.

Really looking forward to the next season or two with this group of Kerry players. Shane Ryan and Daragh O'Shea should come into consideration in goals for the league. No harm to test lads out. In defence Jason Foley, Cormac Coffey, Brian O'Beaglaoich, Andrew Barry, Gavin White, Robert Wharton could be blooded in the league to see if they are up to it. In midfield we have Barra O'Sullivan, Mark O'Connor to come through and maybe Jack Barry as well as he had a good run with UCD. Adrian Spillane to be considered but probably more suited to wing forward role. Forwards we have multiple options and lots of talent coming through. Killian Spillane, Michael Burns, Tony Brosnan, Jordan Kiely, Conor Keane, Brian O'Sheannachain. There is definitely enough young blood there to rejuvenate the current panel and give the team more options and pace. Interesting times await and am delighted that Fitzmaurice is at the helm for another two years.

Seamus is managing this year's East Kerry Minors. The thing is this year's bunch is such a strong panel you could probably put a 7 year old in charge of them. I don't think nacrocaigh has time to train them and contribute to this forum!

It's a pity the Centre of Excellence in Currans is being delayed by 3 months.

The worry of course now is that this is only the start of it again and they'll be back for more in the future. Especially with Tadhg Kennelly lurking around the place as an International talent co-ordinator, we will most likely see plenty of our best and brightest getting offers. We can't begrudge people wanting to make a living I suppose or a change of lifestyle but it won't be doing Kerry football any favour that’s for sure. We should enjoy the likes of David Clifford all the more on Sunday and next year because in no time at all I would imagine Uncle Tadhg will have the arm around the shoulder selling him the dream all out of the goodness of his heart of course.

He's dead right to get the experience of the trial. I sincerely hope that is the end of it though!

I always thought it all happened away too easy for Kennelly. He parachuted in to a team ready to win an All-Ireland and in a few months got a medal and an all star and vanished as quick as he arrived. He didn’t have the discretion to leave the Australian macho image out of it so he proceeded to make serious mistakes especially in the book. Apart from his own family nostalgia he seems to have lost sight of what makes the GAA the GAA.
Is there evidence that Kennelly is behind Mark’s trial?

Players have been lured by the Ozzie game for many years now and Kennelly's role may be overstated - if it wasn't him it would be somebody else doing the looting. Yes the big athletic players will always be targets and a few will be lost which is a pity for the local game but is a great opportunity for those who get the call. Several other talented players have gone to professional soccer and rugby over the years also. On a positive note - I was fearfull Mark's injury problems over the past two seasons would be a threat to his playing future, great to see the the Ozzies (who seem to know a thing or two on that front) are not put off. Hopefully he enjoys his free 2 weeks holidays and comes home to a big future.

Personally I think the dream for many players is to play sport professionally, enjoy the lifestyle and earn a few bob- the game itself, personally for me is nothing to get excited about, being nothing more than an alpha male parade ring!

I'm no Sherlock Holmes but I googled 'Kerry Player + Sydney Swans + agent + irish player AFL trials' and there was Tadhg staring at me.....

Is Tadhg making a comeback to Kerry? I havent heard anything to raise his profile in quite a while. I know he's retired but maybe he will have a contract negotiation with the AFL coming up soon so maybe we'll hear the usual sh*te from him/his camp.
Before anyone loses their rag here- I have respect for Tadhg as a player but really disliked how he used us as a bargaining chip every year with regard to contract negotiations

Let’s not play dumb here – you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know what’s going on! As for those hoping Mark is just going for a trip, God bless your innocence, to quote a line from a classic salesman's film Glengarry Glen Ross ‘ A guy don't walk on the lot lest he wants to buy.’

I wouldn't blame him for going purely for the trip with no intention of committing to the sport, 2 weeks in Australia, flights and all paid, I'd do it myself! Like he said "nothing confirmed or decided, nothing major"

Great news but I don't think too many of us thought he was going. A lot left to give and too much unfinished business.

IMO we'd not have won in 09 without him. A big advantage compared with Tommy was he was consistently playing at high standard professional level for years before 09 and a proven winner on the biggest stage there. A unique and incredible achievement. As for his book, "Unfinished Business", bilge. A pity IT ever got finished. He's an opportunist, and Mark going over is not good for Kerry or us poor supporters. The lad is more than entitled to give it a shot though, who knows where it might take him. Selfishly the word 'home' screams out. Any chance of Kennelly getting a copy of Abraham Maslow's "Make you Aussie Rules dream come true", and have him replace Berno Dunne in the Dublin backroom management team?

I met some of the Dingle players yesterday and they confirmed that Mark O'Connor is injured and likely to be out for a few weeks more- he is going to Oz to meet with a few clubs, have a look around- they believe he is taking the opportunity while injured and unlikely to commit to a contract while out there or indeed be offered one.

Gooch will need to play in the half-forward line next year.
Do people think Marc Ó Sé will stay on? He could be played in the half-back line if so.

Think we need to move on from the old guard now and bring in youth Ideally come March we see 3 or 4 lads in starting 15 and a few more on panel. Should be using Mcgrath cup to throw them straight in.

Yep, wish Mark O’Connor all the best! Hopefully we can find our new potential antidote to Brian Fenton somewhere else? Who are likely new options now at midfield for Kerry in 2017?
