big win for listowel, they'll be very hard to stop from here on in. Cox got 2-8 apparently. Ballydonoghue into a semi final, they'll take stopping too, a lot of young talent.
Final four for me Ballydonoghue Emmets Na Gaeil Dromid to cause an upset

The rise of ballydonoghue is incredible. From not even getting passed novice first round a couple of years ago and division 5, to semi of the junior rubbing shoulders with some top clubs and division 3.

Big wins for Listowel & Ballydonoghue who have now laid down a very big marker for the rest, if they can avoid each other they could well be the final pairing. Glenbeigh will have something to say about that but have a tough game to get through against St Pats & if they come through that an away game to Dromid awaits. Glenbeigh to join Ballydonoghue, Emmets & Na Gaeil in the semi finals.

Na Gaeil to face Annascaul in the quarter final and how ridiculous is it that the county board is meeting tomorrow to decide whether this match will go ahead this wekeend or not. Surely wednesday night is far too short notice for a fixture???

Wednesday night is too short notice but it should go without saying games should be played next week end,as many games as possible should be played this time of Ye ar rather than in November December and January. I'm sure annascaul and na gaeil would have had an idea anyway

Perhaps it might be to accomodate West kerry and St Brendans get their players together the weekend before county championship? Any other ideas anyone?

As a matter of interest where is the boundary for the Gaeltacht? Obviously Lispole is in the Gaeltacht area but from memory I think it is just barely outside the Annascaul village? I recall reading that Kerry receives nearly €1m per year in Udaras grants for businesses in the Gaeltacht area.

Teams are training like there's no tomorrow these days, they are all in Championship mode so whether it's Wednesday or Thursday night they are told it shouldn't make any difference. You tell any player he has a championship quarterfinal at the weekend and he'll be home for it regardless. If he isn't, he probably wasn't worth having anyway!

There is a tree at the apex of the bend.

Maybe irrelevant but this was Castlegregory's first year qualifying for the Comórtas. They have players from Clochán and beyond so are entitled to enter it. Unfortunately won't be going further than the first round, losing out to Liospóil last weekend.

I recall reading that Kerry receives nearly €1m per year in Udaras grants for businesses in the Gaeltacht area. A guy working in the civil service once told me that if any journalist ever looked at the Department of the Gaeltacht's spending in detail the Department would be abolished inside of a month. He said it is the most abused of all of the government departments in terms of where the money ends up.

Glenbeigh scrapped into the next round after beating St Pats by 1 pt after extra time, not too many teams will be worried about them after this performance.

Good win for Glenbeigh but were pushed all the way by a strong St Pats team. The St Pats players and supporters left themselves down attacking the referee after the game. Dreadful behaviour.

2 Quarter finals down for decision this weekend.
Listowel should have too much for Firies. Na Gaeil will put it up to Annascaul if both Barrys are playing. There might just be a shock here.
Dromid/Glenbeigh is off cos of the South Kerry-Stacks replay. This means this quarter final will go back until after Kerry are knocked out of the championship. Pity - this could hold up the entire competition if South Kerry and Mid Kerry advance to the semi finals of the county championship and Kerry make it through to the All Ireland final. The semi finals mightnt be played for another 5 months. And one team has been through to the semi final for a month already.

Listowel 0-12 Firies 0-11, close game but Listowel go marching on. They had better wrap Cox up in cotton wool as he is unstoppable at the moment.

Any match reports from either of the two games last night? Na Gaeil that little bit sharper than Annascaul on the night. A young team full of athletic players. Standout performers on the night were Jack Barry and the na Gaeil wing back not sure his name but he scored a fine point and was constantly causing trouble. Annascaul may have won on the night if it weren’t for two cheap enough goals they gave away. One stray hand pass coming out of defense and another chancer of a high ball over two full backs, both in the first half. They came back into it with James Crean in particular showing well (even when double marked). In the second half though with the pressure on, Na Gaeil defended well and with runners like the two Barrys they managed to see out the clock. Don’t know if Na Gaeil will win this championship but being able to spring on subs like young Stefan Okunbar and with a sound management in Rooney and Barrett, they for sure look a formidable force in years to come.
