Never never never ever write Ardfert off. I'm afraid St. Marys walked right into an ambush. Maurice Fitz and co should have known better, they where never going to leave Ardfert as Champions! They where great Champions and did Kerry proud, but Ardfert have also been there and done that may times before!! Congratulations to Ardfert. And hopefully it's the start of another fairy tail journey for them!! Plenty wrote off Ardfert foolishly but I doubt Maurice Fitz underestimated Ardfert. He is the game too long to underestimate the team his team succeeded as All Ireland, munster and county champions. Ardfert are every bit as good as St Marys. Just look at what they have won in recent history!! St Marys were just beaten by a better and maybe fresher team on the day. John Egan is some GAA player. Bearing in mind his dual role, he is probably the best in the county. Some good young players in Ardfert now - The Courtneys, Brandan Barrett, Fionan Mackessy, Kevin Shanahan etc

The way he make dummy runs and lose his man, make space and then take the right option. Fionann Mackessy is first and foremost a hurling man but his display v St Marys obviously caught the eye as he is now on the Kerry minor panel. He wont go back from anything.

Tantalising that Stacks and SK is fixed for 6.30. Would love to see both They should have a double header in Ardfert, plenty of room there and they could re-open the old dressing rooms for the stacks and South Kerry. Sure it would be a great evening!!

An Gaeltacht deservedly won by 1.13 to 11 points.
Poor enough game on a beautiful evening.
OConnor at 14 did all the damage. He got about 8 points. Marc at CHF brought his man out of position and they ran through the gap time and again.
Too many of the Ardfert player didnt perform on the night.
Brian Begley came on towards the end nursing a hand injury.

Was at Gaeltacht vs Ardfert. Gaeltacht totally dominated every exchange. Couldn't believe Ardfert were so naive to leave Sean M O Connor 1 on 1 inside. Gaeltacht are a lot better then they get credit for and will beat Templenoe if they clear injuries and fellas back from America.

Kenmare v Templenoe final? I wouldn't be surprised. It will a lot to stop An Gaeltacht i think. They are very tough and physical apart from being very good footballers.

Intermediate Semi-Finals fixed for either the Sept 11th/25th. Should one Kerry team make the final, probably the minors both SF will be played the 25th.

Double header in the Park this Sunday.
Kenmare notched up two wins in their last two county league matches against Rahillys & Legion respectively, while Desmonds drew with Milltown and went down to Dingle. In addition to recent form, I'd have fancied Kenmare here anyway. In the other game, it's hard to look beyond Templenoe, but I think it might be closer than expected.

I cant decide whether to go to this double header or the Junior double header on Sunday.
Desmonds were a break of a ball from beating Marys last year so they cant be underestimated but I think Kenmare will win be a couple of points.
Templenoe scored 3-12 against a strong Stacks team a few weeks ago so they dont seem to have suffered a hangover from their long season last year. Marc O Se might like one last crack at Croke Park and maybe, just maybe this might drive An Ghaeltacht onto a (shock) win.

I'm not sure it'd be all that much of a shock. Yes Templenoe are very good but I think this is a very strong gaeltacht team. savage ball winning capacity in their forwards with a "marquee forward" in sean mici o'cnochuir, and a good solid structure to their game plan. I'd almost fancy them this weekend.

I think Kenmare will be too good for Desmonds- Desmonds will have their hands full in coping with Stephen O'Brien, Paul O'Connor & Sean O'Shea- if, as seems likely, that Thomas Hickey will be an absentee, cannot see Desmonds progressing.

Templenoe to win this one but it will be close, Kenmare should beat Castleisland especially if Hickey is out.

An all Kenmare district final and they need to play with each other next week. That'll be interesting!
Kenmare had it all their own way, Desmonds looked heavy on their feet and playing with only 2 forwards is puzzling. Some brilliant performance by the Kenmare team. It'll be interesting to see who'll come out tops in the final if they play like they did yesterday, but Templenoe just seem to be an unstoppable force at present with the quality of football they're playing. They really do have a golden generation of footballers.

Very dis-spirited Desmonds performance. Fielding injured players and leaving fully fit usual starters on the bench made no sense as Kenmare worked their way to inevitable victory. Desmonds were definatley leg heavy and one has to wonder about the training that and they have being doing in preperation for this game.Fair play to Kenmare, a much more balanced, commotted, and skilful side.

Will this be the first time that 2 teams from the same parish have contested a county final?

Does this mean that the Kenmare district team will be shuck next year? Pity as they may be on the cusp of winning a championship. What is the situation with promotion from intermediate to senior for 2017?
