In short: Keep it clean, keep it fair, keep it accurate, keep it honest!
In more detail:
The purpose of this forum is to promote Kerry GAA when possible, and we will accept constructive criticism, but there is no place for rumours, slander, abuse, pointless criticism, personal comments etc. Clean, Fair, Honest, Accurate, Constructive criticism is welcome.
And ideally, we would ask that EVERY contributor post their full name and contact details – but the mask of anonymity is far more appealing it seems! This influences the level of censorship also.
We have the facilities to include only valid constructive criticism and content that promotes Kerry GAA, so this control will generally be implemented – at least to some degree.
Have a look at some of the other GAA forums – a lot which has fallen in anarchy – read some of the posts - and honestly ask yourself if it fair to players and management (and their families) to have to read criticise to such a hateful degree from these sites.
By enforcing some level of censorship over the years on this site, we now have a core group of outstanding contributors on the Kerry forum that know to keep it fair and honest.
But at the same time, we have lost some fine contributors over the years because we deemed their posts unsuitable and they disagreed with the slap on the wrist. It is a shame. But sometimes passion becomes anger, and anger is released in severe criticism/abuse and there becomes a need to modify/delete/ban.
More than once, a club representative, a family member or a player themselves have actually contacted us and asked that content be removed.
- People DO read the forum, the posts can do harm, and we have to be constantly aware of how a simple criticism might seriously upset someone. Understandable?
Finally, a question that has been put to many members of this forum... What right do we have to (anonymously) criticise so publicly and so vehemently the county players and management who put in far more that we can imagine?
These guys bust a gut for the jersey all year round, give nothing less that 100% in every game, and yet we saunter onto the forum on a Monday morning and nit-pick at every dropped ball or mis-kick or unfashionable selection – sometimes to an unreasonable degree.
As another exciting season throws in, please think before you post.
Thank you.
