I went to the game. I though Kerry were poor. Sean O'Shea was their best player. Good prospect for sure. Daniel O'Brien was a loss. The forwards kicked some bad wides and some terrible passes. Didn't click as a unit. That was an average Clare side. Of the backs Mike Foley played well. The full back line was a little shaky. Probably will keep their places though. Billy Courtney kick outs were excellent. Mark Ryan and Mike Breen put in a tremendous amount of work in midfield. Worked very hard. I still think Mike Breen in the backs would make the backs stronger but they don't have a top midfielder to replace him there. David Shaw played well when he came on. Kicked two points. I would start him ahead of Diarmuid O'Connor. Brian Friel was good looked sharp. David Clifford took too much out of the ball. Kicked for scores when he had other players in better positions. I would make two changes for the final. Daniel O'Brien to start at no.6. David Shaw at no.12. Great to get a win but big improvement needed to beat Cork. [/b]Mightn't be playing Cork at all. Based on the form book (albeit minors), you would think Limerick are in with a real shout tonight. [/quote] True

On evidence so far, the 3 in a row is a long way off.

Ryan o Neill and Cian gamell make there way into the squad, rumour has it that there is a major prospect coming up going by the name of rory Ruttledge. A tall full forward who plays with John Mitchell's. Just what the minors need ?

Heard good things about him alright Ger ! They could use a big Donaghy like forward who can throw his weight around and pull players around him into the game. Joe griffin and eoin Barden could do similar jobs. Brendan's will have a serious dilemma on their hands with regards to their full forward come championship !

Cork look like a decent side. They will give Kerry enough of it. Cian Gammell is a good corner back. He had a good year with the Sem. It would not hurt to give him a look.

I've half a notion that he is underage as a minor again next year. Not 100% but was talking to a Legion man about him a few months back and think he said this - I might be mixing it up with underage for the Sem/schools though which is 18.5. Saw him for the Sem and definitely thought he looked a decent player all right and not surprised to hear he is involved.

Oisin O' Brien from Churchill has also been called in. Great point kicker and all round forward

He is under again next year. He should definitely make it next year. Chris O'Donoghue from Glenflesk, Peter McCarthy from Legion, another guy i was impressed with from the stacks at no.6 was Ciaran O'Reilly looks like a good player.

Lets stay with the 2016 competition for a litte longer before we start picking the 2017 team. Checking the other provinces it is interesting to see that Munster is the only one with a provincial pairing decided so far. Connaught does not start until late June. Ulster have a preliminary game and one QF played (Tyrone out already). Leinster are down to a last four (Dublin beaten by Meath and out). According to GAA website Munster winners play Ulster losers and Munster losers play Ulster winners in the AI QF's

Will Kerry beat cork in minor final ?

It will be tight enough but I'd say they have the talent in the forward line to outscore them. Slightly worried about the backs. Dan O' Brien is a must and they could possibly consider dropping Mike Breen to the half-back line to really sure things up.

Draw for the minor county championship made on Terrace Talk
Stacks v Kenmare District West Kerry v St Kierans South Kerry v Brendans Dingle v Rahillys Mid Kerry v Firies Feale Rangers v Crokes East Kerry v Shannon Rangers
East Kerry won the U16 championship two years ago - they will be missing the Crokes and Firies players from that side but will have the Eoghan Ruadh teams which makes them the hot favourites.

What clubs are in Eoghan Ruadh? Gneeveguilla, Rathmore, Kilcummin, Glenflesk?

They'll be strong alright. Firies will be stronger next year. West Kerry should be decent. An Gaeltacht have a fine crop of young players coming through.

Hard to see past East Kerry alright. Daniel O'Brien Connie O'Connor Cian Gammel Chris O'Donoghue Ciaran O'Connor in the backs. JJ Herlihy and Mark Ryan in midfield. Dara Moynihan Brian Friel David Clifford Peter McCarthy Dean Fitzgerald Ian Roche in the forwards. Plenty talent there. Crokes will be good. Mid Kerry another team who could be tough to beat.

East Kerry look extremely strong alright. Crokes will be strong but I'm not sure will we have the strength in depth to compete with East Kerry, we are certainly very strong up the middle but we have some weak links also.

I'll be trying to go a lot of games in the Championship. Looking at players for next years Kerry minors. I think there won't be too mant new faces this year. For 2017 Goalkeepers: Neil Doherty (Crokes) Robbie Murphy (Stacks) Danny Quilter (St.Senans)
Backs: Lorcan McMonagle (Crokes) Cian O'Callaghan (Firies) Cian Gammell (Legion) Chris O'Donoghue (Glenflesk) Mark Ashe (Dingle) Ciaran O'Reilly (Stacks) Dylan Casey (Stacks) Ian McGillicuddy (Beaufort) Luka Brosnan (Desmonds) Sean Collins (Kerins O Rahillys) Jamie Harrington (Tuosist)Nathan O Flanura (An Gaeltacht)
Midfield: Niall O Mahoney (Na Gaeil) Eddie Horan (Scartaglin)
Forwards: Fiachra Clifford (Laune Rangers) Jack Griffin (Dr. Crokes) Donncha O'Sullivan (Firies) Barry O'Mahony (St.Senans) Patrick Moriarty (Brosna) Ian Roche (Glenflesk) Daire Cleary (Laune Rangers) Michael Kelliher (John Mitchels) Jamie O'Sullivan (Waterville)
Good players to watch for next year. Im going for Stacks to beat Kenmare. Kierans to beat West Kerry. Brendans to beat South Kerry. Dingle to beat Rahilly's. Crokes will get a tough game from Feale Rangers but should shade it. East Kerry to beat Shannon Rangers. Mid Kerry to beat Firies.

If East Kerry don't win every game by 10 points with the pick of players they have available, they will be doing something wrong on the sideline. Gneeveguilla won the County League Div 1 u16 two years ago and will only provide a 2/3 of players the likes of Daniel O Brien , Christoper O Donoghue (Glenflesk) Mark Ryan , Dean Fitzgerald, Brian Friel (Rathmore) Peter Mc Carthy and Cian Gammell ( Killarney Legion) Dara Moynihan (Spa) David Clifford ( Fossa) all currently in with Kerry Minors and available for selection by East Kerry. Anyone know the East Kerry manager who must be relishing the upcoming Championship? It isnt that easy to put together a divisional side- if it was then a divisional side would win every championship, every year due to sheer force of numbers and players available. East Kerry will be strong but sure thats no guarantee

10 Dara Moynihan (Spa) 11 Brian Friel (Rathmore) 12 Peter McCarthy (Legion)
