Over the next month sports pages will be read from cover to cover
This years route to the final will be watched again and again.
The forum will be the most visited site on your browser.
Rumours of injuries and who's going well in training will spread like wildfire around the county.
Jack O'Connor said it best nothing better than knowing your in the All-Ireland final as the nights are drawing in!

We have a lot of work to do, yesterdays performance won't beat Mayo or Dublin, on another day they could have got 3 goals yesterday.
Gonna be a lot of doubt around too about the possibility that our captain won't start.

Not to mention the scramble for tickets. Season Ticket! (smug!!!!) Seriously though it's meant that I have avoided the scramble for four finals now. Great incentive!

Yes indeed it would appear to be the way to go. Luckily I don't have to worry about a ticket as I'll be stewarding and have a pretty good vantage point.

Even if we lose, reaching the final despite having won the previous year, putting the Tyrone thing to bed along the way and winning Munster will still count as a good year to me.
If we win I'll be in dreamland!

Lots to be done to win this one but with some capacity to do so. Kerry will have to be tactically brilliant to beat either of the rampaging Dublin or Mayo sides as they might not have the same range in their games as they these two have.

Stopping a fella running at you and tacking a man in possession is more difficult under those conditions and it worked both ways, Geaney stole a point with 3 or 4 around him including young Cavanagh and Donaghy mastered that point when double marked and surrounded and hounded by 5 or 6 pairs of red claws.
We often forget that the reason for subs is for changes to be made and no team is immune to that necessity. The 5 sub rule suits us big time with our strong bench. Gooch was sublime and in a way it was fortunate he didn't get more ball because they were crucifying him and the ref didn't use the red card. The camera also picked up on Tyrone lads misbehaving off the ball and JO'D and Geaney were targeted.
The conditions yesterday could have been a blessing in disguise as it was the ultimate stress test and Éamonn now knows more about his configuration. What's even better is that the opposition think they know and that suits us too. I wouldn't under estimate the challenge but you wouldn't want to be from anywhere else!
By the way I am told that I am 'sentimental and self-pitiful' by an auld Jackeen on another thread. I wonder is there another Ballythefireside in town, or is someone consuming something that doesn't agree with them? Ah sure I'll redirect the pity to our opponents on D Day!

My season ticket attendance for yesterday has been updated this morning, have made it over the threshold. Happy days It will be easy to spot the lads with the season tickets the next few weeks as they'll be the lads with the happy grins knowing they don't have to go through the rigmarole of the ticket hunt. Always get a lovely smug warm glow when you're able to casually drop it when the inevitable countless ticket conversations crops up.

what really sickens me now is that there will be 3000 or 4000 lads and lasses up for the final who didnt set foot inside a stadium all year.
should be a loyalty system brought in and everybody who goes to all the games is guaranteed a ticket.

Ahem...There is and it's called the SeasonTicket. And you only have to go to 60% of the games.

So folks, a big headache for Eamon and co selecting a starting 15 for the final, particularly in the forward 6. Does Geaney start instead of Star? Does Buckley start instead of Sheehan. Is Gooch wasted inside?
He also has some choices to make in the backs.
Good headaches to have mind you.
For me Geaney has to start. He is just too good to leave on the bench. We play a lot smarter with a mobile FF line.
Buckley has probably played his way into a starting berth too but I guess 4 weeks in Killarney will sort that out.
I'd leave Gooch inside too. All half forwards need to be able to track back and make tackles and that really isn't part of his game.
The 6 backs will be horses for courses I'd imagine.

we're going to have to have somebody parked around the exclusion zone to stop runs through the middle. we leave acres of space there. Mahony possible best man to put there.

Those few hundred are the most loyal supporters and go to most League and Championship games. It's not that difficult even if, like myself, you live hundreds of miles away, doesn't cost that much and you get great seats (at least in Croke Park). If you are suggesting that those who turn up for all the other Championship games (but not the League) should get preference in allocation of tickets for the final, I wholeheartedly agree but you would need to square this with the current system of allocation through County Boards and Clubs, many or whom use some of the tickets for fundraising.

One that the county board hates as it eats into their allocation, not to mention the dye in the wool club activist it impinges on their sense of sole entitlement to one. I'd say the ride on lawn mowers and the slice pans get some pounding on All-Ireland week.

Bonus territory has been reached. Bonus territory was winning last year. Bonus territory this year would be getting 10 All Stars. Star lifting Sam is the only acceptable option this year. Yours F. N. Animal

An enjoyable 3 and a bit weeks ahead of us. It's great that the minors are in the final but they were in it a last year as well and I don't ever remember tickets as scarce in the week leading to the game. And that was with only two counties involved. This year our opponents in the senior final will guarantee huge demand for tickets. Dublin by virtue of population and Mayo as ever would have a significant number of diaspora returning home in hope yet again.
Like others I'm glad to have the season ticket and have comfortably made the qualifying attendance record. This was not the case last year when due to some family matters (good and bad!) I failed to make the cut.
As regards where Kerry sit and what team might take the field, has it ever been more up in the air? That's not to say we are unsettled or Eamonn doesn't know his best 15 but Eamonn has repeatedly pulled rabbits out of hats that for the most part have paid off. Think of Crowley coming back on Sunday and Fionn Fitzgerald back from the cold. Injuries permitting the two lads midfield are two of very few guaranteed starters. Others likely to start? Kealey is not going to be dropped now. Enright is having his best year. Lyne is also a likely starter as is Paul Murphy (although I'm sure Eamonn will have words about his one or two loose passes). While I would always start Marc, is he a guaranteed starter anymore? Donnchadh Walsh is about the only constant in the forwards and is a guaranteed starter. Everyone else either through injury or form has missed games or not started this year. It is fascinating what Eamonn has created and thankfully for now the team has bought into the policy. It's a massive incentive for guys on the periphery. If you are going better than your competition for a position then Eamonn will reward you.
I honestly don't know who I want to win this Sunday. Either side will present a massive challenge to us.

Enright Moran Maher D Walsh It gets interesting after that Kealy might be in line for an All Star. Enright if he has an OK final might be a shoe in. Paul Murphy close too if we win the final. I don't see any of our HB line getting in. Moran is a certainty but will they give Kerry two MF berths? Not if we don't win the AIF I'd say. D Walsh and maybe JOD too.

Killian Young has been hugely reliable and consistently good at wing back for the past two seasons.
