Is that the only way a play off can be avoided Ya. Mitchels need a draw or a win to go up. If they lose they'll end up level with the Marys and Rathmore all on 15 points. Spa would join them on 15 if they beat Currow. As sure as rain is wet, the way the fixtures have gone this year means it must be close to a certainty that it would end up with 4 teams on 15 points. Will there definitely have to be a play-off though? - should this not be decided on scoring difference ?

I said it on another thread but head to head results should be used when teams finish on the same points. With 3 up, 3 down these type of situation will be more common place.
Also get rid of the final to see who wins Division 1. Another ridiculous situation sees Legion and Stacks play this weekend for the right to play in the Div 1 final which will be held in 2016.

As soon as you get a walkover in the league it doesn't work as teams haven't played same number of games, and even if there's no walkover it would be wide open to dodgy landslide winning margins in the last round! Head to head is the way to go. If you have multiple teams level just decide it on a mini league based on results between the teams involved like UEFA do.

I've always known that Maurice Fitz is a living legend in the annals of Kerry GAA folklore but after last night's on-field appearance his place in GAA's Hall of Fame is assured...What a man! You can be sure he'll now be gunning for Division 1 to cap it all off, Mitchel's better bring their A game to Cahirciveen on Sunday if they have any designs in avoiding a play-off.

Can someone confirm how long he was on for was it 1 minute or 15 or what all I'm hearing the last few days is Maurice this Maurice that I'm wondering was it just a token gesture cause any manager can bring himself on.

Was at the game - he came on for about ten minutes - touched the ball about twice. If I'm being brutally honest I thought it was slightly disrespectful to gneevguilla - it's not like he is making his comeback is it? Unless his team had no more subs to bring in which could have been the case as they didn't start about 6-7 regulars

Correct - Marys even missing 6-7 players were miles ahead of Gneevguilla

On another note that top pitch in Crokes was in great shape - some set up in Lewis Road to be fair to the Crokes

Correct - Marys even missing 6-7 players were miles ahead of Gneevguilla I agree completely with what you have said but it must be taken into account that Mary's have been training severely in the last few weeks/months and also they are preparing for an all Ireland semi final regardless of what kind of team that had against the East Kerry outfit they were going to be in good shape you have to think that a lot of that Mary's team who played against Gneevguilla all have aspirations of getting some game time in an all Ireland semi final and the South Kerry Championship compared to an ageing Gneeveguilla team with nothing to play for having to tog out on a Wednesday night in December for a league game so therefore I'm not overly suprised with the result. Were Gneevguilla at full strength? And I'm not so sure about the condition of the Crokes pitch? Was there a few weeks back and th amount of sand on it between the goal and the 20 yard line at either side is lethal don't know how players are expected to judge the ball.

Gneevguilla had something to play for they can still be relegated, I'm surprised they gave up home advantage to be honest, maybe midweek fixtures are an idea going forward, especially with all these new pitches being built in the centre of excellence. how about this for an idea, 5 home games 5 away and one neutral midweek possibly under lights. on another note how many games will be called off and how many will go ahead due to unplayable pitches tomorrow

For the weather we have had that crokes 2nd pitch is in great nick - I'm not saying it's like carpet but for a second pitch it's in great shape. By the way Gneevguilla did have something to play for - if they won they would have been safe in division 2 for another season so plenty to play for

So after today Currow join tarbert - all comes down to the last league game with gneevguilla and templenoe to see who joins Currow and tarbert - with the playoffs for the last promotion spot it's going to be some end of year - and with talks of co league starting early next year and all!!!!

Not great form by Tarbert to give laune rangers a walkover in what was a vital game in the relegation battle.

As I understand it tarbert pitch unplayable - they couldn't get another playable pitch and then unwilling to travel to killorglin to play the match - strange thought they would have wanted the game themselves with NK champ next week

Not great form by Tarbert to give laune rangers a walkover in what was a vital game in the relegation battle. This is not the 1st time I have seen people complaining about walkovers at the end of the co league. I'm surprised that tarbert gave one today as I assumed it would be a good training match for NK semi final next week however as tarbert evidently did not see it as such I fully understand a W/O being given as was in cordal & cromans last league matches when they were already rel and had to travel. The chances of getting 15 to travel are slim at best. Another club with nothing to play for and going well did send 15 just and the match was over as a contest after 5 mins. What's the difference. While I don't believe it's best practice it's the luck of the draw re leagues just like drawing the furthest teams home and certain teams in the early rounds. I can see it would be a farce if it happened in any 1 rd and not the next like doc 5 as ballyduff often did. I just can't see how any of the teams that did it over the last few weeks would have produced the goods with 15. Even tarbert as their eye is clearly on playing x.mas week.

A win or draw for Templenoe puts them up as champions. A win for Gneeveguilla keeps them up, a draw gets play off with Laune Rangers, a loss means relegation. My bet would be on a draw !

John Mitchels v Rathmoere and Spa v Cahersiveen is the playoff semi final pairings with neutral venues to be used .

Templenoe Gneevguilla this weekend has permutations for the top and bottom of the league - Templenoe will win this handy at home - must be on a high after the weekend and I'm sure looking to finish this season on a high in front of their own supporters

If things go badly for them Saturday they could be relegated from the county championship and in the county league on the same day.

Templenoe have won the division today. Templenoe 0-11 0-03 Gneevguilla Were u at the game ruralgaa? Great year for Tempelone must be said a team up and coming as for Gneeveguilla seems to be an end of an era. Being honest I'm suprised Tempelone didn't get a few goals? Weather must have been a big factor! Nevertheless well done Tempelone.

Congrats to Templenoe, great to see a club going all the way from Div 5 to Div 1 and from Novice to Intermediate. Fair play.
