Very honest report Diego. Never even thought about the wides that Sheehan did kick such were the impressive kicks that did go over. On the Waterville side, it was probably Cormac Sullivan and Barry O'Dwyer who performed best, town' s lack of a proper marker could cost them

twas a good old battle on Saturday. some great football in the first half, with the second half a little bit scrappier. As ever between these teams there was good hard football but no nasty stuff. We were a bit lucky to get the goal that we did but credit to the mary's for getting the next two scores to bring it back level. When they went a point up it was ominous for Waterville but thankfully they managed to work through a maze of marys men (14 behind the ball at one stage) to get Fergal Cronin in position from 35 yards out to level it up. A gilt edged chance was spurned by a mary's man just before the end which was an enourmous let off for us.

What sort of condition is the St Mary's pitch in? Waterville's pitch was very soft in places which really slows up the play.

For some reason I always have a soft spot for Waterville. I think its because they played in the first three County Senior Finals that I was brought to as a young child. They lost all three finals to East Kerry who had a much bigger pick (they might have even included Killarney town but I am not sure).
"Connell and Dwyer" as they were known back then were virtually a two man team and there was a real David v Goliath about those games and all pervading sense of injustice that Waterville didn't win any of the three finals. I think it turned me off the whole divisional thing forever. East Kerry went on to win the club All Ireland but the GAA moved to ban divisional teams from the club all Ireland after that.

The Con Keating Park today resembles Croke Park whereas the Waterville field last saturday was poor, with a heavy covering of grass and very soft in the middle third

Whatever about the pitch, at least Waterville have a covered stand.
God help the spectators this weekend if the heavens open!

Just heard on the Radio there of the 2 managers talking about their respective injuries. Marys appear to have more problems in that regard, just depends on who is out for them really

Rumours going around Bryan sheehan walked off training during the week with a injury, did get a bit of a knock during the game in Waterville On Saturday. I'd say these rumours are false enough, always going around that such and such a player is 'definetly out' but always end up playing

St Mary’s hold upperhand in replay By Murt Murphy www.irishexaminer.com/archives/2014/1208/ireland/st-marys-hold-upperhand-in-replay-301388.htmlMonday, December 08, 2014 South Kerry SFC final: St Mary’s 0-14 Waterville Frank Casey’s 0-7 St Mary’s made no mistake at the second time of asking when romping to a seven point win over Waterville Frank Casey’s in Saturday’s South Kerry SFC final replay at Con Keating Park, Cahersiveen. Led superbly by captain Bryan Sheehan, Sean Cournane and Denis Daly, the hosts always held the upperhand against opponents who managed just two scores from play over the hour. The game swung on a key point for St Mary’s before half-time when Paul O’Donoghue intercepted a poorly taken Waterville sideline ball to fire his side into a 0-6 to 0-4 half-time lead. The hosts grew as the second-half went on to really emphasise their dominance overall. The victors ended the game with 14 men with substitute Kieran O’Driscoll sent off soon after his introduction as a mini-scuffle broke out prior to the full-time whistle. Saturday’s success was St Marys’ 30th Jack Murphy Cup in total and their first since 2011. Scorers for St Mary’s: B Sheehan (0-5, 4f), S Cournane (0-4, 1f), P O’Donoghue and A Cournane (0-2 each) and Denis Daly (0-1) Scorers for Waterville: Stephen O’Dwyer (0-3, 2f, 1’45’), G O’Sullivan (0-2, 2f), Alan O’Shea and C O’Sullivan (0-1 each) ST MARY’S: A Constable; K Nolan, B Curran, I Casey; D O’Sullivan, Denis Daly, C Quirke; B Sheehan, J Daly; C O’Shea, P O’Donoghue, N O’Driscoll; Daniel Daly, S Cournane, A Cournane Subs: S Horgan for Daniel Daly (57) and K O’Driscoll for N O’Driscoll (58). Listening to Maurice in some interviews around this final, he says "I can assure you" in real Micko-esque tones. Must be in the dialect in South Kerry at this stage!
