If a sobering statistic is needed to put the challenge that still faces Kerry into perspective it comes from a preview of the Leinster final. The Metro Herald – a Dublin paper – says that in their last 8 games Dublin subs have scored a total of 4 – 35. This is better than the first choice selection of most counties over a full 70 minutes.
It says “It’s tempting to say that Dublin’s B team is the second best in Ireland right now”. In the same article Ciaran Whelan attempts to play it down saying that this quality of sub is only available in the forwards and not available for midfield or defence. He can say that because the performance of defenders is not as easily proven as that of forwards. Food for thought no doubt…..

Dublin have gone in behind on the scoreboard in 4 out of their last 6 Championship matches. Someday soon a team will build up a "useful" lead against them and this is where they will be tested.

Kerry v Tipp/Galway Mayo v Cork/Sligo. I think My predictions Kerry v Tipp and Mayo v Cork in quarter finals. Yes and these games are down for the SUNDAY 3rd of Aug......APPARENTLY!!!!
Tis never easy with the Cumann Luthchleas Gael is it?
Ah great memories and crack when we have played Galway over the years and also surreal one in 08 when jones road flooded due to flash flooding in August. Also that day, on three separate occasions when slipping out for sneaky fag, saw lads being hauled away in hand cuffs, never before or after have I seen anything like it, will put it down to the atmospheric pressures leading to the down pour!!

Took me six hours to get home after that match but at least I was going home after a win unlike the Armagh cars ahead of me

Quote from Thursday's Irish News back page in an article about Mickey Harte's future from "former Tyrone Allstar John Lynch":
"Progression is the thing" he said. "We in Tyrone expect this now. That used to be the way that Kerry people were. They expected to win Munster and All Irelands."
USED TO BE???!!!

None other than Billy Morgan is entitled to gratitude from Kerry fans for his role in the development of Brian Kelly, Paul Geaney and a few others with UCC.

Billy can get in line, behind their club coaches from u8 until now, their district coaches, their primary school teachers/coaches, secondary school teachers/coaches, Kerry development coaches, and Kerry intercounty coaches. Call me cynical if you like, but I'm from Kerry and cynical is all I ever heard Billy shout about when it came to excuses for loses against Kerry. And Galway can have all the credit for Padraig Joyce, Donegal can take credit for Jim McGuinness etc!!!

This writing was on the wall for Dublin with some time...Dublin have conceded 6 goals and 44 points in their last 3 Semi Finals. Mayo out scored them in last years Final 15-14. Laois were in front at Half Time by 2 points in the Leinster 1/4 Final. All the teams Dublin hammered were Division 2 or Division 3 and were well beaten afterwards. How were they ever as short as 4/11 with the bookmakers will be a mystery for many years to come? All Ireland Senior Football titles are hard won. Simple as.

Agree. Think James and Paul Geaney could light up the championship this year starting sunday. Would like to see Sheahan back in the middle with D. Walsh back in on the wing. Once team takes shape I think people will realise we're not a bad outfit at all. and we'll see the return of all the fair weather supporters!! Pat on the back time!
