I think theres a plan behind that somehow by Kenmare take East Kerry back another long distance where its now unlikely not as many E.K. people will travel that far and also bring it to a tight field which would suit Kenmare more! haha I'm sure plenty of those East Kerry folk will have been to Templenoe at some stage!! lol But yeah maybe tighter ground etc is behind the reasoning. Do they usually train in Templenoe? Maybe that has something to do with it too? Tight pitch! It's one of the biggest in the county. Most Kenmare games and training sessions held there at all levels

Any defenders knocking on the door it will be very hard for anyone to force their way onto the panel now at this stage. mcbeth from laune rangers seemed to have a good game in senior championship, saw him a few weeks ago v kenmare fine big skilful player.

east kerry 19 points kenmare 1 11 east kerry deservedly won 2 nites game, displayed great teamwork for such a large spread of teams, always attacked with speed and numbers and worked the openings for the score. played an extra man back to cover killian. himself and stephen o sullivan looked dangerous in possession, got some good scores but more often than not they were crowded out. the loss of the o shea brothers was a major handicap for kenmare[on holidays]
ray shea in goal for kenmare made 3 superb saves, while no 13 for east kerry dan clifford fossa? show great skill and scored fine points. the main man for kenmare was pat clifford, he worked like a demon in the midfield, tackling, fielding and trying to rally his team when they were treatened to be overrun especially in the first half. the east kerry goalie did well, accurate kickouts but hopefully lack of height wont come against him later on.

with 5 teams getting byes surely it would have been fair for these to go to first round winners. not crokes fault that feale rangers gave a walk over but their luck was in on the double. disappionting to see a former football stronghold including the clubs listowel finuge and moyvane giving a walkover at this grade

I don't agree that the byes should go automatically to the first round winners and I don't think that Crokes got lucky by getting a walkover, simply because I think that minor teams improve hugely the more competitive game time they get together. Regarding the Kenmare v East Kerry game, I would fully agree with sidelined's assessment. The Clifford brothers from Fossa were outstanding - Paudie was no. 11 and David (U16) was no. 13. They had 0-5 each and David was my man of the match. I thought Rob Leen (no. 10) and Daniel O'Brien (Glenflesk, I think he might be U16 as well) also impressed. East Kerry were missing a good few, Shane Ryan, Matt Keane, Philip Casey would all be likely starters - I consider Shane Ryan to be a phenomenally talented forward. Conor Keane came off the bench to play for the Kerry U21s as a minor last year, I would have had no problem with Shane Ryan appearing in the corner for them this year. He really is that good. For Kenmare, Stephen O'Sullivan was always good and showed some real flashes of genius. Killian was obviously the main dangerman and it was equally obvious that East Kerry knew it (who doesn't know that by now?) but I thought Kenmare made it impossible for him by lamping in big high predictable ball that the defenders could lap up. I think he got 0-8, 6 frees, but I am not certain. His cousin Pat (1-1) has a fair bit of cutting in him too. Patrick Clifford was outstanding for Kenmare, I thought he ran and harried and hunted all day long. An engine and a brain, I was very impressed. He switched with Killian for the last quarter and was dangerous inside, while I thought Killian revelled in the freedom of a bit of space in midfield and played his best football out there. East Kerry always had that bit in hand but it was a good enjoyable game of football. John Tyther and especially Daniel McBeth were very good for Laune Rangers seniors, especially in the first half. Spa's Dan O'Donoghue (who did well on no less a player than Mike Frank), Shane Cronin, and Liam Kearney came on for East Kerry in that game; I thought they all did well but I could be unintentionally biased myself there (I am a Spa man). Kerryked, I saw Michael O'Donnell in the U16 County Final last year, he gave an absolute exhibition of football in midfield. Simply majestic. I don't know if that's his usual standard or if he happened to play out of his skin on that particular day but that's a name I watch out for.

himself - David Clifford is actually under 15, was the main scorer in the Kerry South u15 team this year.
And do you find it strange that the draw gave byes to the 5 sides who had 11 starting on the Munster Final team.
Any idea where the draw was made and who carried it out?

I wouldnt write off Shannon Rangers ino Dingle have some super individuals but Rangers have a good system the way they play and have some nice players I wouldnt be one bit suprised if Rangers beat them! East kerry and Mid Kerry should be a good game David Roche a big loss for M.K. East will be hard to beat with a full team they seem to be going well. South kerry and Crokes I think could also make a great game the long trio down South for Crokes may be a disadvantage! But overall some good games ahead in this Minor Championship

Predictions for tonight lads I'd say South Kerry V Mid Kerry and Spa V Dingle with a Mid Kerry Dingle final. Any different opinion ?

Crokes v South Kerry should be a cracker, I think Crokes could shade that one by a couple of points, and I think East Kerry will get past Mid Kerry. Dingle are probably favourites to win it out.

I fancy the gaeltacht to beat spa , The spa minors didn't even make the semi finals of the county league, East kerry to beat mid kerry as shane Ryan is apparently fit to play for EK , Shannon rangers to give dingle a game but dingle to win by few points. Is the semi final draw an open draw or has it been made yet?
