Great Post Stacks. Unless people live abroad and love Kerry football they will never get your message. When I go home on holidays to kerry, I spend almost every evening watching every kind of a football match be it club, Championchip or whatever. Apart from the fact that you spend money going to the games in Ireland, you are also helping out the Irish economy - food, drink, taxi, hotels etc. KerryGold there are many people who travel from all corners of the globe to watch a game and travel home again that day and take no notice of it either. Five hours or Dublin seems little in comparison.

I make 70 to 75% of kerry games. Iwork my holiday around the championship. I get a least one league too. Not bad for someone living 3,000 miles away. Also for the final I get my tix here and I work damn hard for that so. I agree that there are people who get tix and would not cross the road to see a game and turn up at the final.. Such is life in all aspects. This year while in Kerry I managed to get the east kerry game v kil Cummin Crokes and south KY mid Kerry v Rangers Mid KY V Rahilleys Feale rangers and numerous club matches. Again not so bad for a person outside of Kerry? ?

if they sold a supporters package containing an all-ireland final ticket, for the years kerry contested a final only, to a 1000 members at 500 euro a package yearly. This would generate 500,000 euro yearly to help train the senior team or run an underage accadamy,I'd imagine there a 1000 kerrymen around the world somewhere that would risk paying 500 euro yearly if there was a chance they would get a final ticket if kerry were contesting the final. its simple maths,1000 members @ 500 euro a pop = 500k euro yearly. it cost kerry 800k last year to run the teams. all it would take is an allocation of 1000 tickets to be put aside any year kerry contest an all-ireland final. what could ye do lads in the county board with an added influx of half a million per year, thats a lot of dosh generated by a very simple idea. The Co. Board already have a ticket scheme in place kerrygold. - had you not heard about it? 2000 units at 70 euro a year for 5 years. This 70 euro gives you the right to purchase 1 ticket for every championship game that Kerry compete in. It generated 700,000 for the Co. B in 2003 - apparently to build a training centre in Fossa - dunno what ever happened that. Anyway, there has been some form of a scheme in place for 20 years or more (build on the back of the golden years). You'd swear "Club Tyrone" invented the idea the way it has been discussed here every time this topic comes up over the years!! The current scheme ends next year. - and I'm sure they'll run a new one at 100 euro a year or more this time. 500 a year is a bit ambitious tho? - its likes paying 570 for an All-Irl ticket - and you mightn't even reach the final! cos you'd pick up tickets for other games fairly easily usually. only those with money to burn could afford that KG. Ya,i was aware of the county boards ticket scheme at the time alright kerryNorth but i was away at the time and very regretable let the closing date pass.If there is another one i will be diffinately signing up for it.I heard a whisper though that they might not launch another one as they felt it was big draw on available tickets for the all-ireland final games, have you hear anything to the contary lately? Whats this other ticket scheme you mentioned going back to the golden years,do you have details on it? Finally,ok,five hundred euro might be a bit ambitious but do you not feel there is scope there to promote the kerry senior team as a way of raising training funds.Theres a lot of kerry people out there at home and around the world who love the kerry team and might be prepared to dip into their pockets if the carrott of an all-ireland final ticket was there.500 euro is a tenor a week or a monthly standing order of 40 odd euro a month. Ok the package would have to sproused up a bit, maybe free entry to all county championships and co. league finals plus maybe free entry to kerrys home national league games also, maybe an anual dinner dance where the members could get to meet the players etc. I think theres a market out there kerrynorth thats not being fully tapped into as a fund raiser, those extra funds would do a lot of underage work around the county, personally i feel the gaa havent yet embraced the times we live in and fully marketed their product to the maximum, look at what their achieving with the rental of croker, thats a huge new cash source. when they build their new stadium in kerry on the sale of stacks park is their not a corporate posibilty there where such a fore mentioned club kerry could be incorporated in line with the new thomand park redevelopement?.The kerry senior football team is a serious brand name in my opinion that offers huge marketing potential not yet tapped into.

Such a topic will always elicit a similar response, namely that of indignation. How dare that person be given the ticket that is my birthright!!! Certainly there are those that are deserving but we could try for many centuries to formulate a correct and just system of distribution but to what end? I have been fortunate in recent years to have attended the last three finals (2006 was ticketless but an excellent afternoon was had in Gills and the subsequent evening in Jury's) at an approximate cost of €500. Now this may not appear to be an enormous sum but with a young daughter and a 70 hour week I think that it is quite fair. There are many people living outside Ireland who would gladly be involved in the GAA but sadly due to whatever circumstance (in my case I apologize for the Southwest of France not being the centre of GAA activity) but must be given credit for making the effort. It is not easy for exiles and as for having as one gentleman put it "tickets waiting at the airport", no, I don't think so; fly more often and you will see that is not the case, or maybe you do fly but not on an aeroplane. I do not pretend to speak for the majority but I do wish to stress that we as Kerry people have the duty to be unequivocable in our support for our team and not be burdened by unnecessary complications which means that ticket or no ticket I will keep the faith. In finishing I wish to say that the day will come and that day I hope will be the 16th of September.

I am reminded of the Fianna Fail tent at the Galway Races when I think of this scheme.......... those who can afford it get access and privilege

Lads is it not a bit early (and presumptious) to be talking about All Ireland final tickets and having needless arguments at this stage with everyone giving thier individual stories about what games they have been to etc! There is always too much talk about this as every year you can be sure when u roll out of Sean O Caseys or Coppers to down outside the Gresham on the Sunday morning there will be someone with tickets!!!!

Stacks, noreeos, Joan, I am in the same position and over 5 thousand miles away from any of the action, but I'll be up at 5am Sunday morning and in the car to drive to a bar to watch the game.
I also would love the luxury of flying home for as many games as I can, but unfortunately vacation time in the US is pitiful, 2 to 3 weeks a year, throw in going back for the Christmas and you're not left with much!! I have no problem with the flight, I fly 5,000 miles a week east coast to west coast for work and hopefully come the final, I'll be able to nip back for the game!
Do I not deserve a ticket?? I would give anything to go on Sunday, when I was living in Ireland, I never missed a championship game no matter what, even went as far when myself and my friend were broke and living in Dublin, thumbing down to Thurles for a game and then hiding on a trainful of angry Dubs on the way back with no tickets hoping we wouldn't stand out (being the only two in our carraige in the green and gold didn't help).
If you haven't lived abroad you would never understand the longing you feel for home when you are packed into a bar in September looking at Dara go up for the throw in at six o'clock in the morning wishing that you were in the crowd you were watching on TV.

jaysas branch, the though of being 5000 miles from croker on all-ireland final day if kerry were playing and watching it in a bar at 6am in the states is enough to tear a mans heart out and rip it to shreds, even being 1 mile from croker would have the same effect on me.oooccchhh

I have supported Kerry for donkeys years through the good and the bad. This thing about tickets is a pain in the cohonés,same auld sheit every year. IMO if you can get your hands on a ticket use it.If you get your hands on two make sure you give it to someone deserving.I have got my final tickets from some wide range of sources down through the years.I dont have to go to every match to class myself as a STAUNCH Kerry supporter. There are some real die hards on here and fair play to you guys there is great credit due to ye.BUT please!!! ramming it down peoples throats(no matter how subtly)is beginning to get boring. The hunt for tickets for final day is all part of it.Some you win some you lose.LIVE WITH IT.BTW hi Pablo.

If you look at the old photos of all irelands from the 30s, 40s, 50s even the 60s you will see hardly any women at the matches.
Just an observation.

My grandmother, who is 91 now said that back in her day (mightn't have been too long ago cos she's still very lively!) that it was a big no no for ladies to go to football games. She still went, the mad rebel she was, but only local games to support her cousins who were playing. Still think we're better off now...

Just an observation. even in the 70's 80's and '90s tickets seemed a bit more plenty full even though there was a limit of 65000 tickets available. The extra 20000 tickets in the redeveloped croker has had no impact on extra tickets being available, quiet the contary, they are even harder to source now. imagine all the tickets that would available for the lads if all the women stayed at home and made the sandwiches and flask of tea. . now i'm getting the fooookkkk out of hear,i can here finger nails breaking on key boards already ;D ;D ;D,abues granny is gone for the frying pan!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a good observation all the same mickmack
