Cork, Sligo, Tyrone and Meath fans are paying €35 to watch two football 1/4 finals. Kerry and Monaghan are paying €45 to watch one football 1/4 final. You could argue that Kerry and Monaghan fans are also getting to see a hurling semi-final but let's face it, most Monaghan and Kerry fans won't have much interest in that game.
Cork and Waterford fans are also getting ripped off having to pay €45 to watch a replay after having paid €35 to watch the first game and again it's fair to say that most of them won't have much interest in the mismatch that is Kilkenny v Wexford in the preceding game.
It's more than just a rip-off, it's a breach of Section 5 of the Competition Act 2002 which states as follows :-
"5.—(1) Any abuse by one or more undertakings of a dominant position in trade for any goods or services in the State or in any part of the State is prohibited. (2) Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (1), such pt.2 S.5 abuse may, in particular, consist in— (a) directly or indirectly imposing unfair purchase or selling prices or other unfair trading conditions,"
If anyone else feels like they're being ripped off and that the GAA are abusing their position to make money, they can email these people: seamusbrennan@dast.gov.ie , michaelmartintd@eircom.net, micheal_martin@entemp.ie , chair@tca.ie, cartels@tca.ie, monopolies@tca.ie, query@nca.ie

I think its an outrage!! No consideration for the average fan. All the GAA see is the €€€€€!! Cork fans realy getting a raw deal, footballers playing on the Saturday n hurlers on the Sunday (or the other way round), point is they should have put those two matches on the same day!! For any Cork person wanting to go to the two games, €80!! As for Kerry, its totally unfair for supports to have to pay €10 more. Regardless of the hurling semi being on. We shouldn't have to pay more the the other counties in the 1/4's. Its an expensive enough weekend! Train to begin with, €65, accom say €50 for a night, add in food and drink and its turning out to be a very expensive weekend. Cheaper to fly to Spain for a weeks holidays. It has to be time to starting rewarding fans who travel regularly, some kind of discount on tickets or session ticket scheme!

if anyone is being ripped off its Derry............. having to pay 35 euro for one game and the privilege of being outnumbered 10 to 1.

Two years ago I payed £60 STg for the privilege of watching two very mediocre Premiership soccer teams play out a draw in London. That equates to almost €100 for a league game. The prices are not that high for our games. Dont forget, Its a triple header on some of the days. You are not going to keep everyone happy all the time.
I am sure Derry fans wont mind paying €35 to see their team playing in Croker.
Judging by the attendances for the Q Finals for the last few years I dont think too many Kerry fans will be out of pocket anyway.
It is a bit expensive for Cork folks alright, but make a good weekend of it if you can

in the years 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992 1993 1994 and 1995........ Kerry played no championship game in Croke Park.
Just be delighted to be involved........ every year....... we are spoiled in Kerry......... lets just hope that those bad days never return.
....... its still great value.

It has to be time to starting rewarding fans who travel regularly, some kind of discount on tickets or session ticket scheme! I agree, especially those of us who live outside the county and haven't access to Club or County Board distribution. But I do think the ticket cost is still very good value for what we are getting. i'm looking forward to seeing the hurling semi as a neutral even though I wouldn't have travelled for it alone.

Very little is fair is any walk of life........... if you accept that and get on with it you will be better off....... otherwise you will end up listening to Joe Duffy!
I'd say BIGMAC would mind having the problem of forking out €45 to see Armagh in Monaghans place........

A fair point Jo, but consider that the GAA set their pricing structure months ago and can't turn around at the last minute.
It does bring up the point about the GAA's planning - they knew ages ago that they would be hosting quarter finals with the hurling semis - they should have set a medium price of $40.
Having said all that, feck it lads, I know $10 is $10, but and with young children the costs increase - but over a full day / weekend in Dublin, the increase is $20 for two tickets. Cut out the booze for half a night and you're sorted. You will see some incredible GAA fare, and compared to the prices you pay for other sports, you're spoiled.
Put it this way, I'm off to see the USPGA next week and I'm having for fork out $100 to see the Thursday golf. I'm paying $35 to see practise rounds!! A baseball game is costing me $55 for a middling game of no effect regarding the league tables and I'm 20 yards beyond first base 40 rows back, and that will last 2.5 hours. The GAA will have nearly 4 hours of good fare on.....not the worst value.

Its not just the ticket prices - programmes are €1 dearer for semi finals than for 1/4 finals, petrol prices are due to rise next week and the pint is going up 5c next week too - I'm off to see the bank manager.

Sean Walsh was on radio kerry last monday saying that it was very unfair but there was nothing that could be done about the situation. He used the example of a dublin fan leaving their house after lunch and walking to the game for €35 versus a kerry fan from portmagee paying for petrol, breakfast, dinner and also €45 for ticket.

Conversation goes like this: Buck02: "Sham, I need a few bob for the football matches" Bank Manager: "No worries. I'm stuck myself. I'll give you a few bob extra if you drive".

Lads, I don't know what ye Kerry lads are complaining about, most of ye appear to live in Dublin. Didn't ye tell me before there is no internet in Kerry? And Cork will bring about 263 fans to the football quarter. The stay-at-homes could club together to pay for them! In fairness Abue, I'd say you'll get a few of your favourite hurling fans showing up on the saturday to swell the red crowd, will that make you stay at home?

Rashers, there seems to be a few going alright. Hopefully they will show up in bigger numbers than for the Donegal match last year. I do feel a bit sorry for the hurling crowd after them being in Dublin already on Sunday and really to be fair to them I wouldn't blame them if they skipped one of the games with the cost of going to these games.

I know I'm in a small minority judging from the comments, but my reaction when I got a ticket was "Wow! An All Ireland hurling semi final for only €10 extra!" As well as that, I now lnow I'll get to cheer for our neighbours and the county whom I'd naturally support in the hurling championship after they beat Clare. I'm delighted! Is nobody else of the same opinion?

Stop moaning. e45 is fantastic value whether there is a hurling game or not. Advise, dont drink any pint before the game, head down to the ground and buy a programme and soak in the atmosphere. Thats how you get your moneys worth.
you d spend that before you hit the nighclub on a normal night out. And as for those with kids or those students out there for the past 2 or 3 years the gaa refund you e20 to e25 at the gate in the cusack stand side if your a kid or student. I have availed of this numerous times!
