Ref will be known about two weeks before the final - the hurling ref was announced yesterday week. Wouldn't be surprised if Gerry Kinneavy got the whistle .
If anybody was listening to Today FM yesterday evening, there was an interview with Mickey Harte taped yesterday morning, where Mickey was getting himself in knots over 'different styles of play' etc. Jack got the first shot in, and Tyrone are still in a huff trying to defend themselves. Maith an buachaill Jack.

Ulster football siege mentality summed up : Loyalist and nationalist, both in full garb, hanging around a street corner in Belfast. One says to the other "If we hang around here long enough, someone is bound to insult one of us "...............for Loyalist and Nationalist substitute Armagh and Tyrone.

I think if we start mentioning Gooch and abouut proection Tyrone may start saying thar Gooch is very prone to retaliation as we have seen in the Limeric and Cork games.McMenamin will know this and will be needling him.He did the same with Quinn from Dublin.Everytime he missed a free he was talking in his ear.

Funny enough I was thinking of the bould Gerry only yesterday after watching a video of the Limerick drawn game last year and was praying he wouldnt get it. It has to be either a Connacht or Leinster ref right??

Indeed it does Jayo (or should I say Sherlock). As for Gooch and Ricey's "chat", have no fear. The Killarney bluebottle has had more people whispering "invocations" in his ear during his present blessed incarnation on earth than the chaplin hearing last confessions on Alcatraz. He listens, absolves, and gives penance..."2 goals and a point", "4 points and a substitution", "say 9 hail marys and hope you'll be benched at half time " etc etc etc

Well, I'm trying to think who can get it. Seamus Roche got it for the hurling and he's a Tipp man living near Cork so not sure on the provincial policy but Kinneavy got the quarter final replay which was the biggest game of the year for the GAA, hasn't handled a final before that I can think of and isn't from Ulster (knocks Pat McEnaneny out) or Munster. He's not my favourite ref either, his handling of the Clare v Kerry game in 2004 in Ennis was nothing short of abysmal and he's a penchant for booking the Gooch.

This Aeroplane O'Shea quote you have - where does it come from? I know about Aeroplane's great ability under a high ball but I've never heard that. By the way - I'd suspect that Jaws McMenimin will be doing some things on the day that even a priest can't absolve, unless the penance is a week around Lough Derg soloing the ball in his bare feet.

Re the ref, what about the Goldrick lad from Meath, he seems to held in high enough esteem by the powers that be?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Anyone but Kinneavy, I'd let Micky Harte ref it before Kinneavy. The man is a walking disaster. I reckon he changed his name to the as gaeilge version so disgruntled fans(and there's 1000's of 'em) wouldn't recognise him. Also what is it about him and dogs on the pitch??? Has happened during several of his games.

Do yes mind lads if another Tyrone man joins the discussion. No point and no craic chatting among yourselves. Looking forward to the match big time now. Nice high in beating Armagh esp after what happened during the summer. But as Mickey Harte said there was no medals given out on sunday so it's feet firmly back on the ground and focussing on Kerry.
Kerry have to be favourites to be the first team in years to win back to back titles. They look best equipped to do so and as people say they dont look to have any obvious weak links on the team. Tyrone on the other hand do seem to be struggling in some positions. However they have struggled with that all year and have still be able to win - albeit with more trouble than Kerry.
Do any of ye think that the lack of high tempo games will come against Kerry in the final? I know JOC says that the training sessions are very hard and as competitive as an actual game but surely nothing beats the pressure of a do or die match. or will the amount of games Tyrone have played count against us. We played 9 games this year but in fairlness had we not messed up against Cavan, Armagh and Dublin we'd only have needed to play 5 games, the same as Kerry. However the benfit is that during those additional games we seem to be picking up the tempo and getting better.
I think the only thing that can be said with a certain degree of certainity is that we wont get a repeat of last years final. I'm sure all fans will be hoping for the same.

welcome phpearse. you've started the old PR thing already hyping up the Kerry team, there seems to be alot of that going on and I think it's only going to get worse..
very hard to know about lack of intensity in Kerry's games and the amount of intensity in Tyrone's. It could work two ways, Kerry could be fresh and peak for the final as they did last year and Tyrone could be tired, or Tyrone could have the edge with all the close intense games. To be honest, nobody knows or nobody will know until the 25th and there will be lots of speculation about this.

Welcome PHP, is there any truth in the rumour that even there are dogs on the pitch (for Kinneavy!) that it won't be the dogs the Gouch will be worried about getting a bite off?

welcome PHPearce, but what rubbish are you blabbering already, praise Kerry, Tyrone are tired and weak in certain positions......rubbish...... I saw the smug smile on Micky Harte's face on Sunday. He looked like a man that was saying 'we have it in the bag now', even though he spoke like the true politican belittling his teams chances against the "might" of the Kerry monster. Tis about time ye stopped all this patronising trash and speak yer minds for once.

Tyrone are in the driving seat now. I can't see them losing the final to be honest. 5-90 to 1-1 is my score prediction. Oh God we'll never beat them. Kerry would be better off putting out a bunch of under 12s than this current crop of players.

Ah, Bigmac, ye've had 3 shots at it. This is a good opportunity to blood some U-12s as Kerryman says. Look, we'll be beat but we're building for the future,if you're good enough you're old enough and various other cliches I can't think of at the moment. Anyway, sure we'll turn up and do our best but expectations won't be high. We're coming up against the might of Ulster and we know it. As the Down captain of 1968, famously remarked," Kerry football is dead"...we're just managing to keep the pulse going but its not getting any easier.

Ah feck it lads, all this talk of the might of Tyrone has me dispondant - I've a ticket due to me if anybody wants to head up for the slaying. As for blooding our U12's, the Ballyduff hurlers love the smell of a bit of the red stuff - any chance we could let them represent us - we might get somewhere.
I'd better go and get the canned goods and water stocked up - sure we won't win again for 30 years.
