it doesn't make scence that double headers in croker with four leinsters counties involved are only bringing in crowds of 30000 people.

There has been some dreadful rubbish written over the last 10 weeks in relatin to GAA v Rugby and more recently the World Cup.
Presently People (in Ireland) can relate to rugby in much the same way as Hurling and Gaelic Football - the players move in the same circles as the fans while soccer is a marketing phenomeon - peole have been giving about the satnadeard of some games in the 2006 world cup and people have forgotten how sh*te most of our games were!
Rugby is a man's game with no where to hide if you start *footing around. Galeicv games are similar but there are theatrics creeping in especially from up north

Well said nedeenbnn!Munster rugby has totally revitalised this country and it shouldn't be looked down on by the ignorant minority of the die hard gaa fans!No wonder the game is so well liked because the players have respect for both the referee and the opposing players!Same can't be said for the GAA so we should take a leaf out of Munster's book and start respecting the game more!

The point about the heinexen cup is that we have very few meaningless matches.........the bonus point concept is a good one. The other thing is......... most matches are played in small grounds which generate a good atmosphere.
Put Munster playing in front of 15000 in Thurles and it would be a dead affair compared to Thomond.
Could the gaa not run off the hurling championship in July.....a few pool games.......4 quarterfinalists (there are only 8 hurling counties anyway), 2 semi finals and a final. Then do the same for the football in August.......
Let the hurling fans take their holdays in August and let the football fans take theirs in July........
The current set up is so grawn out that it looks like it will never ignite.
This would give plenty of time for the clubs to play their games
Too many sacred cows would have to be sacrificed I suppose

I agree completely that we need more meaningful games in the GAA. Based on their display against Limerick I'm kinda of worried about us even getting a meaningful game the next day against Cork. To be honest I am finding it very hard to motivate myself to go to it as all games in the Munster championship this year have been downright poor!
Not only do we want a meaningful game - we need the standard to be high - there's no point being a competitive game and the standard being low - we can watch junior county league football match on a friday night for that!
The Heinken Cup is the equivalent of our championship and it is rare indeed to see not only a poor game but also a meaningless one - something should be looked at it.

Munster Rugby is only really popular for bout 2 months a year. From the quarters on. GAA is in young peoples faces constantly all year round
