While the NK championship touches the hearts and minds of many the league is a joke. It shouldn't even have a topic all to itself in this forum but rather be discussed in the divisional borads leagues topic. What makes it so special that it deserves its own topic!!!!!! And before people start b*tching back I feel justified in syaing this after seeing some of the results from the first 2 rounds of it. I mean in all fairness 2 teams only scored once each in an hour of football!

Realist if ppl want to have the nk lge as a separate topic then thats our choice. Shouldnt bother you. and if you dont want to bother with nk stay out of the topic.

Will be doing just that BBTS. It just amazes me that people can spend so much time discussing a competition that many of the teams playing in it themselves dont even care about!

To each their own realist. This is one of my favorite threads, then again I’m from NK. There are more teams interest in this competition than make believe. For instance if Ballylongford had beaten Ballydonoghue last weekend expect05 would be telling us that the competition was over and the cup was as good as in Bally already. Never a dull moment with those Bally boys. The NK league is great preparation for the county league and more of the teams are getting to realize this. The Listowel/Senans scoreline was surprising though, makes one wonder what team Listowel had out, maybe madmac or Walter Mitty can give it to us. They need all the match practice they can get in order to maintain their division one status. Castleisland seems to have renewed their interest, I know it was only Knocknagoshel they hammered but the signs are there, remember they were in the final only two years ago. Is their game against Ballyduff refixed or did Ballyduff get the points? In a way the league should be more important that the championship as it is a stepping stone to better performances in the county competitions, doing well or winning the NK championship at the end of the year should only be considered a bonus. The sooner all NK teams realize this the better. So lets take our rightful places in the county rankings.

Listowel Team; D McCarthy, Sean O’Connell, Robbie Harrington, Paudi Thornton, Ger McCarthy, Shane Quinn (0-1), Fergus Reen, Brendan Kelly, Paudi Buckley, Angus Fitzgerald (0-2), Maurice Whelan (1-01), Billy Doyle, JJ Buckley, Conor Moriarty (0-2,1f), Mikey Kennelly (0-3, 2f). Subs; Noel Kennelly (0-1,f), Liam Keane, Derek Galvin (0-1), Conor O’Neill, Darren Halpin, Sean Mahoney. Reserve or B team side from Listowel

Only 7/8 players that started NK Championship Final.. And Mikey Kennelly was in goals not playing corner forward like he did the last day. Call it what u like new management making changes or what but that will be nothing what Listowel will field in the championship or county League

Emmets playing Brosna this wkend.Brosna will beat them by 2 points. jasus i know we were saying that Listowel had a weak team out against Senans but i wouldn't be too hopefull for Brosna..Listowel could throw out the (C Team) pub team and still win handy enough.

Who are the Five 35 year olds...Mikey Kennelly is one he started in NK Final.. Paudi Buckley/Jerome Stack and Garry Stacknone of them are over 35. Stephen Stack is over 35 alright but didnt make starting 15 in NK Final. He's fitter and still a better ball player than the vast majority of players in NK. Never once left club or county down, few more years in him yet. Ya Christy is managing team this year alright.

Going by the score that is a much stronger Listowel team than I expected, 12 or 13 participated in the NK final, that is if Liam Keane came on, if so he must be over his injury. Going by that Beale could be in for some hiding from Senans on Saturday. I thought that Jerome Stack was 38, what year did he play Kerry minor? Have any of the elder Emmets statesmen retired?

news from emmets camp is that jerome stack is retired, paudie bucks has,nt, as for steven stack gary stack and pat carmody jury still out.. the big C Walsh is doin serious trainin sessions tough as any of the sessions over past few years. surpriseingly good trainer. also alot of the team that played against sennans are under 22, all are fringe players on the b team. brosna to win by 2points..... ha ha ha ha ha ha.

also i think u are right aodhan jerome is 38 to the best of my knowledge the rest are,nt far behind him.... a few of the older players should follow suit like jerome, retire. give the younger players a chance even if they arent good enough, they wont get better sitting on bench.

having the north kerry league at this time of the year is good for 2 reasons
1- it seems to have improved the performance of north kerry teams in general in the county league, with last year seeing finuge, tarbert, balydonoghue and ballyduff all promoted with desmonds and emmets staying in the top flight. 2- it gives us something to talk about in january/feb when there is nothing else on!

it looks like it going to come down to the game between tarbert and beale in section a. the winner will go straight into semi with loser probably playing off v listowel for other semi spot.
the other section too close to call as everyone is taking points off the other.
anyone at the games yesterday

went along to watch the moyvane tarbert game in moyvane...moyvane 2-10 5-08 tarbert. brilliant game to watch.moyvane had a totally different team than that to the beale game...had everyone back. it showed too as we didnt get as much of a battering. bowler was moyvane best player along with the young curtain lad at corner forward. tarbert looked decent enough and had some devastating moves out of defence. they simply ripped moyvane apart at times.thay have some good players back with them again that have been missing through injury.

Brosna/Tarbert have been close affairs in recent years but Brosna have a very tight pick. If they have a full15 they can put it up to most teams in n.kerry. Listowel dont give a crap about this competition but will still probably qualify with Beale and Tarbert. Im predicting Bally to beat Tarbert in one playoff with Ballyduff beating Emmetts in other one. Then semi's of Beale v Ballyduff and Bally v Ballydonughue(who will top the b section) Bally then to beat Beale in final even though they dont really care about it.
