Huge interest in this game going by the amount of comment this thread has produced.

Maybe if the fellows who refuse to play with Kerry are not allowed play county championship?
Likewise if a club wont release their players maybe the answer should be fine but seeing as ye don't want to co-operate maybe the county championship should proceed without that club? Kerry can't field an U21 team? The county board should abandon the county U21 championship. The above approaches might reduce the tantrums the always seem to erupt in Kerry hurling. It might also might make fellows think twice about leaving the county teams in the lurch.

Covered off my thoughts on it in the overall fixtures thread I did yesterday buck. To be honest, I can't make out how they'll perform as Wicklow were also beaten by Kildare, but we've since lost all the Kilmoyley players.
Muppetary to be honest but how and ever.
Kerry by a small few points.
If anybody unearths this, Numeric in the last in Ascot today could be worth a gander.

Hi All I've been following the Kerry hurling saga over the past while and im a bit gobsmacked to be honest. I am not involved with any club and am just a hurling fan. I have played hurling all over the country and was lucky enough to play a bit of inter-county. I have met and played with some great hurlers and have always championed the small ball game. I dont understand what is going on here. In the GAA the greatest honour is to represent your county. Every kid dreams of pulling on his or her county jersey. It is an level that not everyone achieves. My intercounty career was undistinguished and short but I am immensly proud to say that I had a county senior jersey on my back. It seems that in Kerry this is not the case. Players careers are short and can be ended in the next tackle so every opportunity to represent your county should be grabbed as it might be your last. The county team is the cream of the hurlers in the county. If this shambles is indicative of the standard of hurilng in Kerry, then I think hurling is in big trouble. I have attended some hurling matches here and the standard is poor. A post on the forum said that the standard of club hurling in Kerry is as good as in other counties. If Kerry clubs played championship hurling in Cork, Tipp,Kilkenny or Galway they couldnt keep the ball pucked out to them. There is a lot of self delusion here. People talk about a comitted senior panel but if five players turn up to training thats not commitment and no one can say it is. What that is is a disgrace. From some one on the outside looking in it seems that the powers that be in Kerry hurling are content to be big fish in a small pond. That attitude will kill the game in the county for good. I know that in a county like kerry that football will always rule. Any player that shows any aptitude for the big ball will be funnelled that way. But there should still be sufficient comitted hurlers to provide a senior panel with a willingness to give everything for the jersey on their back. Hurling for your county is not a right it is an honour and should be treated as such. Platitudes from the county board about hurling are a joke. The county board hold the purse strings and therefore call the tune. Clubs cannot be bigger than the county team and the county board should remember that. Click on the county leagues on this web site. Do you see any hurling leagues???. Kids need heros, players to emulate. The 10 year olds pucking balls about fields this evening are the future of the game here. How many of them will be impressed by the coverage of the Kerry hurling debacle? Their choice is stick with the hurl and be a joke if they play for the county team or throw the hurl in the corner and pick up the football and have the chance to be a hero. Pete Finnerty said on the Sunday Game some years ago after Kerry getting a hammering by Cork that the biggest concern for the Cork lads is that they might break their good hurl. This attitude is only being reinforced by this shambles . The GAA have created championships to allow the weaked counties to compete in meaningful competitions. Westmeath have taken advantage of this setup by winning their first All_Ireland championship match in 20 years. Why cant Kerry do the same? Because Kerry hurling is too happy and content to look inward and puff out its chest and say "Jaysus we bet so an so again this year, aren't we mighty" The hurling world is passing Kerry by and its Kerry's fault. While the insular attitude prevails the county team will be a joke. True hurlers and fans within the county aren't laughing though.
Sorry its so long just venting my spleen Any thoughts

You should print that out, put your name to it and send it to Sean Walsh and to the Kerryman.
Honestly, that's some cracking spleen.

Hurler14 I think you make some good points. I think the problem is a lot of people in Kerry hurling are no so much interested in the game itself and developing the game in the county. They are more concerned with beating their neighbouring parish. I think there is a lot less respect shown for the game itself that you see in football for example
1) taking skillful players "out of it" you see more of that in Kerry hurling than football 2) Attacking referees you see more of that in Kerry Hurling than football 3) Pride in the county jersey: no explanation needed here
You have to say it does look a shambles from the outside. You have to feel sorry for the genuine hurling men who love the game and want to keep it alive. Events of the last few weeks don't help their cause.......

I see for our game this weekend against Mayo that two Kilmoyley lads are on the bench. What's happening there? Are some coming back to the fold or kicked out of the club or something like that?

The war is over!!! The treaty of Kilmoyley was signed during the week. Kind of an irony though that none of the kilmoyley boys made the starting 15 for the weekend though???

If Sean Walsh was around at the turn of the century then Dev would have sent him to London to negotiate the Treaty instead of poor old Mick Collins!!! That man is doing a great job!

The hurlers might as well forget about it for another year. Seeing as the kilmoyley lads are behaving like a pack of schoolchildren. They ought to be ashamed of themselves

And we scored four points to Mayo's 7/8. That's the senior intercounty hurling panel boxed away for another winter.

well at least christy ring status is retained. relegation to the nicky rackard would have been the last straw. Molyneaux has some neck to look for another term in charge
