Exactly Kerrygold. Shhehan is not an inside forward man. Eventually he will be in midfield or on the 40. His free taking is valuable but he is not going to add more than Mike Frank. At least not on Sunday week.

I watched the game again last night. MFR contributed plenty of good possession and quick accurate passes that I don't think Sheehan will do in a tight spot. So it boils down to which you think is more important, a more choseive forward unit or a better chance of accurate frees. I'll go for option A thanks.
We all know where we were without the forwards clicking..

mike frank's shooting is woeful & has been for a while. at this stage i would include a specalist freetaker. in a tight game the long range frees will be invalauable. sheehan's all round game is overly criticised. didnt he kick 2 great pts in the drawn game v cork???

MFR has proven himself a great forward in the past, but now he cannot get the same room he once enjoyed, a lot of his left footed kicks land short into the goalie's hands, he is not a reliable freetaker under any kind of pressure, remember he also missed a penalty against Longford when he could have killed the game. He also cannot win 50-50 balls. Sheehan at least offers the frees as almost a certain 4-5 pts in every game, more depending on opposition....

After Gooch kicked 6 wides against Cork I didnt see a thread about whether or not he should start the next day. Maybe its cos that game wasnt on the box and a lot of contributors here didnt see the game. I was there Buck, but the reason I wasn't calling for him to be dropped is that his loss of form is only since the end of the league, whereas Mike Frank has been off form in a Kerry jersey since the league in 2003.

I too was at the replay Buck and given all the "issues" with Gooch recently I felt he was on the way back to the form we all enjoyed in the past. I totally agree with Austinstackabu, Russel has been off form with a few moments of excellence, we do however need someone who is perhaps more consistant and repliable..... having said that I'm not sure Bryan Sheehan is the answer either!

Which i must admit i prefer! Although he was't in great scorin form on sat i stil believe he's the better option!! he creats plenty of space for star and gooch and he has ball winning ability!!

I would like to see Jack sticking with Mike Frank. If Kerry play Sheehan from the start,it is one less forward for the Cork backs to worry about giving them more scope to deal with Donaghy and Cooper.Mike Frank put in a lot of effort the last day and if a few of his shots had worked out better all his critics here would be all about him.

From 2days Indo, anybody know if its that serious
Kerry ace Sheehan fears ankle break
THE surge of optimism experienced by Kerry fans following Saturday's win over Armagh has been tempered with news of a serious injury to forward star Bryan Sheehan.
Sheehan suffered a suspected fracture of his ankle while playing for South Kerry against St Brendan's in the county U21 semi-final in Beaufort last night.
The sharpshooting Cahersiveen man, who featured as a second-half sub at Croke Park last Saturday, was stretchered off after a first-half collision.
Sheehan's free-taking skills have been a steadying influence on Jack O'Connor's side this year, but he is now set to miss the semi-final clash with Cork. To make matters worse for South Kerry, St Brendan's won by 4-10 to 0-14

What the hell was he doing playing a match so soon before the semi final? I know there's pressure on teams with inter-county players but this is just annoying.

There is a lot of pressure on the county players alright, but if you take Killian Young and Bryan Sheehan out of that team, you would be weakening them seriously. These game have to be played when they can, otherwise the players will be playing until christmas. It is hard to get the balance right for the ordinary club players while keeping the county players happy also. The Brendans were full value for their win. I hope Sheehan can get himself fit for the semi final, he is a quality player and a great asset to the panel either starting or from the bench and wish him all the best in a speedy recovery.

Any word on this? Surely somebody has an ear to the ground or knows the radiographer in the General? If two Kerry players so much as fart at each other in training or on the train up to a match we know about it before they do.

Hopefully he'll have more luck with his ankle injury than Seamus did in 04.

At least he is young and that should be in his favour. He is a very important member of the panel.
