In which All-I final did the Kerry captain take a slug of Holy Uisce Beatha at half time from a Dublin ex-player? And what was the connection with the struggle for independence? (of Ireland, not the Licencing Laws!)

Thats a great one 'Islandexile' ! I'll be very interested to know the answer !
The obvious contenders that stick out are the likes of Dermot Earley, Willie Joe Padden or maybe one of those Kildare fellas like Glen Ryan ! If you pushed me I'd probably say Earley !

When was the last time before last Wednesay night that South Kerry conceded 4 goals in a county championship game at any level ? I'd say it would be going back a bit ! Maybe someone down that way might be able to tell us !
Seeing it's county hurling championship weekend, I'll put out a hurling question aswell ! When was the last time that we had a county hurling final with no North Kerry hurling club involved ?

Correct Kerrygold. Stephen fouled John Egan for the penalty which Mickey failed to convert.

By the way the answer to this one is 1969, when a Johny Culloty inspired Killarney edged out Stacks in the final ! A lot of that Killarney team also one county football championships with East Kerry in that year ! Culloty also captained Kerry to the All- Ireland that year ! As far as I know, he was the oldest ever winning captain ! But I am open to correction on that ! As the likes of Hanahoe in 1976/77 and Allen 1989 were all well on in years ! And surely there was some old dinasour back in the early years !

So am I after that.....sounds like you're of the generation that was picked up for games at Mulchinocks corner ("Two penny sweets Kitty please" - quality preparation for the the 1981 county U12 semi final), whereas I was of the generation that waited for the O'Sheas bus down in Connelly Park and then picked up the late, great James Hobbart en route wherever he had managed to park the mauve bike.
You were then told on the bus by James that you were subbing on the U12 b team, to be played for 20 minutes aside after the A game, and that half the A team would then play for the B team. In reality, I was subbing on a team that had a panel of 9.

Yes yes its been well noted by many experts that it was that league final defeat that finished off that Kerry team. It wasn't age at all !!
