The Kieltys for Down Patrick and his Brother and I believe the year was 1987 I remember cos they beat Cork the same day James McCartan and Conor Deegan were their star men.

Has passed into legend! There ws some quality in both those teams. I'd be interested in seeing them if anyone could fin em and post them up. As far as I know, Shannon Rgs were comprised of only Beale & Ballylongford players aswell! some going. Shannon Rangers John McCarthy (Bally) Donie Mulvihill ( Bally Paud donoghue (Bally) Brian McCarthy (Bally) Conor Heaphy (Bally) Mike McEllistrum (Bally) Ogie Moran (Beale) Bomber (Beale) Jackie Walsh (Bally) Barry Walsh (Bally) Padraig Liston (Beale) Mike Keane (Bally) Eamon Donoghue (Bally) Gerald Griffin (Beale) Joe Casey (Beale) Bally and Beale also played each other in the North Kerry Final a couple of weeks later with Beale winning their first tittle by 7 points. Savage team. 9 of em wore the green and gold by my reckoning. Feale Rangers team wasnt bad either. Off the top of my head it would've included, Tim Kennelly, Jimmy Deenihan, Ger O'Sullivan, Johnny Mulvihill, Johnny & Mike Wren, Robert Bunyan,...Imagine what Nk c/ship games must have been like. Nearly 10,000 at one of the Tarbert/Bally finals one years legend has it!

Whats the co-incidence between the 1969 AI ffotball-winning team and the 2006 winners? Rashers, if I knew that one, I'd be a very rich man this coming September :-) Stacksabu, Replays dont count! ;DJo 90, brilliant guesses (better than the real answer!) ;D As regards 1969 and 2006 think about it, a little bit more, there's an answer in there if you think like me. Its not "the team", consider the players, and consider me...........

Galway won through the back door in 2001, the first year of the back door system. The 1894 final was played in the Phoenix Park as Clonturk, the GAA's original pitch in Clonturk (up in Drumcondra) was unavailable at the time. There was no final two years, 1888 when a promotional tour of the US "The Invasion" fell apart, with many of the players seeking exile in the US. There was no final in 1910 too, as Kerry were on strike at the time with the Great Southern Railways and Louth had a walk over. Funnily enough, Kerry's first title in 1903 was annexed in 1904, with no final actually played in 1903.

Who is the only club to have the distinction of having the All Ireland winning minor captain and the winning senior captain on the same day?

Thats an interesting one Fiorgael !
Mitchels had the senior captain in 1962 and I'm fairly sure they had the Minor captain aswell !
However I don't know who were the captains of those minors teams who won the All-Ireland around 1979 and 1980 ! Its possible it could have happened then !

StacksAbu,
1. In 1892 Roscommon lost in the Semi-Final to Dublin. The final was then between Dublin and............Roscommon! 2. Correct. 3. I should have said in what year did the Semi-final winners not play in the Final? 1925 Tralee August 23 Semi-Final Kerry 1-7; Cavan 2-3 Croke Park August 30 Semi-Final Mayo 2-4; Wexford 1-4 Munster Champions Kerry refused to compete. Galway declared Champion
Why Galway? Its like the mystery of the Marie Celeste!
The answer to the 1969/2006 question is.......................both the winning teams will have had a player called Paul Griffin!

Rasher, it was Pat Griffin that played for Kerry, as far as I know he has a son named Paul that played for Cork.
My question was probably too easy for people to reply. I'll give the answer anyway iincase a few did'nt know. Kerry won Sam on 27 occasions. Old Sam 24 times, young Sam 3 times, the first coming in 1929.

I'd say the answer to that 60,70 and 80 minute final question is John O' Keeffe ! Although it could be one of those Offaly fella's too ! Maybe their goalie Martin Furlong who won medals in 1971, 72 and 82 ! John O'Keeffe and Brendan Lynch in 1969,70 and 75 69 was 60 mins,70 was 80 mins and it's been 70 mins since about 72/73
