I only recognise 5, I think! Tom Spillane and Ambrose O'Donovan in back row. Willie Maher seated. Timmy Dowd (at least I think it is) and Willie Dom O'Connor in front. All hold senior All-Ireland medals

It would be nice if we went back to that traditional type kerry green and gold jersey.
I hope the KCB aren't planning on betraying the green and gold hope with that balls of a green back jersey they used in the last game.
Do we really have to follow the rest of the sheep through the gap?

Yes I think Michael McAuliffe featured. Think he played 3 years on the minors as he was there in 1982 Final also.
Tom Dee was the captain in 1980 as far as I remember.

Tom Dee was the captain.
Michael McAuliffe looked the best minor prospect from that team yet he never made it at senior level.
Was that the year that Ambrose scored a last second goal to force a draw in the Munster Final. A rocket from about 30 yeards beat Ger Cunninngham......yes that Ger Cunningham

Many young players from that time were simply in the right place at the wrong time and never got a look in during that particular golden era.

This team co-incidentally had 4 players who played for 3 years Kerry Minor. Ambrose O'Donovan, Tom Spillane, David Keane and Michael McAuliffe. David Keane is dad of present Under 21 panellist Barry John Keane. Also co-incidentally present Under 21 selector Tom Prendergast was the Manager of this winning Team. We had 3 players on that panel...Michael Counihan, Michael Crowley and Liam Kerins.

Sean Liston, Beale, back row, third from left. (holds All Ireland senior medal)
? Doherty, Ballylongford seated third from right.
I think John Keane from Emmets is seated on the ground....but I'm not sure as I know he played in the '79 final.
Micheál Kissane Ballydonoghe seated third from left?
Tom Sheehy, Ballylonford is there somewhere and Jim O'Donnel Ballydonaghue might be standing in the back row.

I might have somewhere.
That little guy on the ground (left) scored the killer goal against Dublin in 1985.
Tom Spillane (out injured for that minor final) got match of the match in that 1985 final

A rocket from about 30 yeards beat Ger Cunninngham......yes that Ger Cunningham That goal was a year earlier...that Cork minor team had Ger Cunningham, Denis Walsh, Dave Barry and Ephie Fitzgerald. There is a book out there called Munster GAA Story, or something like that, that lists every Munster Championship game in football and hurling (senior, minor U-21, junior and intermediate) and names the winning teams. Member of Cork Co. Board wrote it I think, a Jim Cronin.
