i'd agree hugh. ardfert management have to be ib everyones top five after what they have done and is no more than sour grapes by anyone who has posted here and not included them! I agree aswell, Ardfert are doing really well and should be included. I'd maybe include one from my own east side. Rathmore are third in Division 1, Gneeveguilla have only rahillys, crokes, L. Rangers, Emmets and Rathmore above them. Four of them have big players bases and only for losing to rivals Rathmore at the weekend could be third which is good for a young team. Maybe top 5 management, but its hard to make that.

I'd echo that !
What Pat O Driscoll & Co have achieved with Ardfert in the last 4 years, puts them a cut above everyone else !
The way he has turned around the fortunes of St Brendans SFC team and especially their Under 21 side - who have reached the County final - reinforces this opinion !

FT - your first post in months and you turn up with that!??!! Obviously designed to start a conversation.....
What about John Evans? Surely he deserves to be there ahead of Bomber.

Going to show my lack of knowledge here but how and ever - has he been involved as a Kerry selector at any level in recent years?

Pat Driscoll would be relatively young early 30s which is one reason he has not been a Kerry selector and spending a lot of time in the states is another. Since he came back Ardfert and subsequently Brendans football has been on the up. He is not a physical trainer in the Pat Flanagan mode so I can't see how he could replace him. I think Pats strength is he gets guys up for games and motivates them to train hard etc. He has great charisma. If his Brendans teams are doing Ok he must know his stuff about tactics and changes etc. I think on his record in recent years he would be as good a guy as any to be given a run with the U21s which has not being doing well in recent years.

what about the great micko and the work he did in kildare and laois. He's obviously in the top 5 but isn't training any team in the county.. He's probably one of the top 5 in the country though (which could well be another thread)

He's after leaving Laois now so we could see him returning to this county, maybe to take charge of his own club!Less mileage than goin all the way to laois anyway.Does anyone know has Micko ever been in charge of a Waterville team??

micko has managed waterville on numerous occasions. he last managed them in 1996. he led them to a sk championship and 4th in div 1 of the county league( thats when the co league was competitive)

I think Patie Mahony has done a great job wit Beale.took them over when they were in Div 5,won Div 4 the next year, held their own in Div 3,now they promoted to Div 2 wit a game to spare.they'v won 2 North Kerry Leagues in 3 years,Novice Championship last year.
I lot of credit has 2 go 2 Ardfert,a real success story

Agree with nk05 about Patie Mahony, has done some job at beale.Prob dosnt deserve to be in the top5 yet but has to be the most promising manager coming up along with john kennedy and pat o shea.Reckon Beale will be well worth a few quid in for the north kerry championship dis year.

Delighted to see Pat Driscoll and Ardfert feature so prominently. Absolutely deserves all the praise he gets and along with Martin Ferris, Seanie Griffin and Mike Fitz they have done a great job with Ardfert. From Div 5 to Div 2 in a short period, winning the All-Ireland in such dramatic circumstances and going extremely well in Div 2. Beat Annascaul convincingly enough last weekend without playing particularly well. Also must mention the turn around in fortunes for the Brendan's. Again the teaming up of Pat Driscoll and Martin Ferris has worked wonders. Two great motivators and footballing brains. Can you imagine those two during the half-time talk.
