Sadly, this'll generate about five posts but anyway, for those true GAA fans here that care, the All Ireland hurling final is on this coming Sunday.
Any word on teams? Who'll replace JJ Delaney? Will Noel Hickey finally play at full back where Brian Cody should have played him all year?
Anybody going? I used always take the day off after at home.....will miss my few pints down at Gills afterwards with the same Cork and Kilkenny folk.....

Find it hard to see past Cork the next day....Haiplin, Curran and Gardner are awesome... throw in O Connor and Kenny at midfield and you have incredible mobility around the middle of the park....
Corks weak links are their full back line and centre forward line....I remember posting before the waterford game pleading for waterford to start "The Dan" corner forward on Mulcahy or Murphy but this did not happen...
I would play sheflin at full forward, put eddie brennan on Pat M line in an attempt to by-pass the centre back line....then again easier said then done

cork seen to have timed their run to perfection, always doing enough to get by this year with practicaly the same 15 players a big bonus.
I suppose king Henry will be the key man as to how he manages to perform on the big day and who marks him and where he plays.
i've a sneaky feeling this cork teams knows what there about and will play themselves into the history books on sunday.
the best of luck to them.

cant look past cork really, they wont give kilkenny the space they got against clare. cork's half-back line is unbelieveable. propably by 2-3 points in the end. should be a great game of hurling.

If KK have the ability to somehow bypass the Cork HB line then they could do it - Good smart puck outs would certainly be a major help. Its a real pity about JJ - I'd love to have seen both sides at full strength. But even without JJ, I still wouldn't rule KK out - I just feel a few people could be in for a shock here !

Cork seem to have the more all round team but have no standout star like Shefflin. Cork seem slightly out of sorts all year relative to last year. Even the famed half back line isn't what it was. If Shefflin is allowed score big Kilkenny are in with a serious shout I reckon. Therefore, the idea of putting him in on the Rock isn't a bad one.
Its a crying shame Delaney is out of action. I reckon Cork will do it by a few points, but no more than that.

Actually putting him on the Rock is not a bad idea. You're depending on Kilkenny working the ball into him from their half back line though to negate that middle third that Cork have dominated for three years.....

The gods are conspiring against Kilkenny............. they have nothing to lose now with cody and Delaney gone....
Hope they win it just to look at the face on THE ROCK afterwards

I would really like to see shefflin on the winning side,as in my mind he is one of the finest players around for the last few years.

I think Killkenny definetly have a greater ability to poach goals then Cork do......I know its an old cliche but I definetely think its relevant in this case - if killkenny are to win, they will have to get 2-3 goals.. There is no doubting they have the players to do it..
Living in Cork, I think I shall be cheering for the Black and Amber the next day....might rub some of the smugness off the "sure we're only interested in the hurling brigade"

Reakon it sould make for a great game, there is a hunger for a 3 in a row in cork, but there is also a hunger in Kilkenny to stop them from reaching the treble............. defo going to be a great game, nomatter who the winners are i reakon it will be by no more than 2 points. Supporting Cork, my Cork Cork mate has got me premium/corporate level tickets (not sure which yet), so as a thank you i am going to support cork in the hurling... plus they are our neighbours and are our provincial county

They don't look like the well oiled machine of the last couple of years.

Any team that beats Waterford, Clare, Tipp, Limerick, Waterford in a year cannot be going too badly........ remember 2 years ago they were beaten by Waterford in the Munster final!

When people talk about Cork's mobility in midfield they have a great point but Kilkenny have copped onto that a bit and that's why Cha Fitz will be there the next day again.
I'd nearly move Walsh out there too to curb the attacking threat of O'Connor and maybe move Lyng into the half back line.
Cork 1-9 are unreal but I still believe Sherlock is better than Pat Mul as Mulcahy is prone to fouling. Moving Henry on The Rock would be a good move provided that Kilkenny hurl smart and use him. The game could bypass him if they go for long range scores thing is he is too good a hurler for Sully and it would be very hard for Cork to move Sully out of full back if he is getting a roasting.
The main advantage Kilkenny have is there ability to get goals. Good an all as he is Cusack isn't as good a shot stopper as the likes of Davy, Cummins or Fitzhenry.
However Kilkenny's backs are poor. Corks forwards aren't great. Ben O'Connor hasn't been as prominant as other years but I always fancy the teams with the better backs. Saying that I really hope Kilkenny do it and have a feeling they will.

congrats to kilkenny and the tipp minors.
t'was typical cats stuff and typical of the cats and rebels rivilary.
cork we hell bent on stopping kilkennys 3 in a row two years ago and to-day kilkenny were hell bent on stopping corks three in a row bid.
t'is all about hungry and attitiude really isn't it,thats the currency of all-ireland victory.
what else would you expect from cork and kilkenny in an all-ireland final in croker.

Class display. I worried about the KK backs but they didn't give Cork a sniff. Well worth the 3 point margin and more. Well done KK.
As for Tipp minors they were brilliant. Well done.

Well done Kilkenny. A masterclass in how to win an All Ireland (in either sport).
Kilkenny were deffo worth a 6 point margin by the end of it. Not too many of the Cork lads stood out. I was surprised that Niall Mac was one of the few that played well. The Cork half back line (apart from Curran) have again played poorly this year. Gardiner just looks like a fellah who's frustrated with his game and isn't a patch on what he was. The Rock surely cannot be the best full back in Cork hurling.
Kilkenny were mad for it - they nearly killed poor Corcoran with all the heckling. Cha and Fogarty in particular were outstanding.
It does look like Donal Óg will land another all star leaving poor McGarry behind again.
Spillane was grinning from ear to ear on the Sunday game and its easy to see why. I'm living in Cork and wanted them to win, but at least I don't have to listen to: "The rebels are the best county in the world" "We don't care about the football once we have the hurling" "We're great at all sports"
..and so on. Thank you Kilkenny for allowing me to enjoy the week in peace.

Donal Óg’s only got an all star in 1999. (His only one) Do you not remember the controversy last year about Davy Fitzgerald getting one ahead of him? So if he got one this year, it's hardly undeserved.

Strange but I would have put that down to Pat Mul being awful more than him being brilliant.
Thought Cha Fitz or Tommy would have got it.

So if he got one this year, it's hardly undeserved. I had it in my head that he got it last year as well. Either way, he's easily been the best keeper this year (and was well tested given the frailties in defence).

Congrats to the Cats. Was there a touch of blanket defense in there win, a lot milder form of dragging there midfielders to defend the short passing. I think Pat said same last night. During the second half a lot of cork puckouts went uncontested and there was no killkenny player near the guy catching it. So when they got to the kilkenny half back line with the ball Kilkenny had players to defend it. Great tactics by Cody. Nice spot by Spillane too "So you picked Joe Deane as the best corner forward in the country, why didnt you puck it in to him. Mulcahy was not a happy man last night either for a guy whos usually good craic. Understandable though I suppose.
