One possible solution to club players plight and club game in particular. Scrap the District leagues at beginning of the year or alternatively reduce season start to just 2 rounds of District leagues as means of preparation for county league. Thus instead of 5 possible weekends been taken up with District leagues at beginning of February and March reduce this to 2 weekends. As Kerry may be involved in National league in this period there still should be ample room to play at least 2-3 rounds of county league in these district league weekends. As Kerry are now playing there home League games under lights in Austin Stack park most clubs should have there county players available to them on the Sunday afternoon following the home league matches. By playing 2-3 rounds of county league earlier this should give room to play 2-3 rounds of county senior ch'ship earlier. Come longer evenings then from May onwards the remaining rounds of various District leagues could be played on midweek summer nights. This would alleviate problem of no games during summer for players other than those gaurenteed games in County Junior league who seem to have gaurenteed games on friday nights during summer once junior leagues commence. I am sure having a few rounds of District leagues on a wednesday or thursday night instead of a monotonos training session would go down well with most ordinary club players. As things stand at moment District leagues are a joke at any rate as these competitions which start in february sometimes do not close up themselves until november or decemeber also. Semifinals and finals of these District leagues to be also played during summer nights midweek or whatever suits without availibility of county players to hold up postponement of such games. At any rate it is the District Ch'ships and not leagues which everybody remembers at end of day.

theres a lot of sence in that post raheen, surely club players would be better off playing competive games mid week rather than traing only.
there are far too many meaningless unsupported intercounty games also in may and june, in all fairness, with all due respects, what good to anyone concerned is kerry v waterford in may/june. would it not be better to let tipp and waterford play each other with the winner playing kerry.
it frees up another sunday for club games.
