I am launching a PR campaign to get MFR back on the Kerry team for the Longford game!
He showed more in 10 minutes than 3 or 4 of our forwards did in the whole game. He is one of our 2 real top quality scoring forwards and we need him on song if we are to have any chance of winning an AI. I cannot see how we can win an AI without him as the alternatives are poor for the 15 jersey.
Agents required to promote this story within the county and nationwide. Payment by joy in mid September!

Sign me up. He knows how to make the runs and the scores can come. Not so sure about AI---I have watched every minute of championship football from Kerry this year and we can't even begin to dream about an AI so far.

I'll go along with that Seamus. I know I've been very critical of him in the past, but he has played excellent every opportunity he has been given this year. When Himself , Sean Sull and Tommy Griffin came on , it was the only time we came close to creating a goal chance all year. The old dog for the long road.

I've said it all along, Mike Frank has still a lot to contribute. Lets hope he gets his chance to show us what he can do.

Aye, that and bringing Dara Ó Cinnéide out of retirement might put us back on track...

I've always been a fan of Mike Frank, he has a simple no nonsense get the ball and put it over the bar approach.

Russell is every bit as good as gooch on his day. Not as many tricks but deadly accurate

Sign me up. Scores on the board is what counts. Sheehan may have burnt his bridges yesterday.

I think Mike Frank deserves a starting spot for next week but he has been playing poorly the last 3 years or so at intercounty football. and very poor at club level this year so I would still have my reservations about him but in saying that he looked lively yesterday and deserves his chance

I've been saying since before last year's final, he's the man to make Kerry forwards click, he's the one player I would really fear, even more than Cooper, and I dont just say that because Cooper has struggled lately. Of course, he has to find his form, but this is a great opportunity for him to be the hero.

No one suffered more from the retirement of maurice fitz that mike frank. Remember all those killer passer to MFR...... 2002 goal v armagh, 1997 goal v cavan etc.
thats my reading of it

Mike Frank is a good, clean, and classy player. How long was he on Sunday when he scored his 1st point. My cousins from Cork have asked me why Mike Frank, Declan Quill and William Kirby aint playing.
Hopefull this is the start of things to come for Mike Frank, William Kirby is injured, but has been sighted at the two Kerry games is the Stand with the fans, Declan Quill..... who knows. Does anyone now
Austin Stacks and Kerins O'Rahillys have some fine players....why dont we see more of them.....For one example just look at Michael Collins playing for the Stacks, 24, fast, fit and one of the star players, he was captain og the under-21s for a while (i think-i could be wrong), but he is a fantastic player, along with most of the team, and been a NaGaeil fan, that is hard to admit

I don't think I've ever seen Quill produce the goods in a decent championship match and don't think he's the answer to our prayers.

I've been saying all year that we need an in-form MFR if we were to stand a chance this year. The only way he'll get back is form is by playing him. Naming him number 22 or 23 wasnt going to get back his confidence. He showed more hunger than any of the other forwards bar gooch & darren the last day, yet who here believes he'll get a chance the next day?

Count me in too. When in form, he is deadly accurate.

MFR has to start, when on form, there is nobldy better, two good feet, give him quick ball in, a shimy and straight over the bar. These scores gives a team great confidence. A score after 20 handpasses, and a fist over the bar do very little for team moral, not to mind energy sapping. Also have a good look at the movement of the dublin forwards against Offaly, all showing, making diagonal runs, crossing over, reminded of Kerry the way they played the last day.

kerry will need mike frank, colm and declan in flying form as 3 scoring forward in and around the house with a big target man playing near them this year to win the championship,i hope the penny will drop within the set up sooner rather than later.

MFR on form would be a great asset to kerry,he deserves his chance as he looked lively coming on against cork and a lot of the other new corner forwards have not proved themselves yet. But I still have my reservations about him, the problem is not whe he has the ball but in trying to win it. he has been unable to win a large quantity of ball played into him in the last few years. Hopefully the longford game will see that change if he starts.

Hopefully the longford game will see that change if he starts. that might have as much to do with the quaility of ball going in,mike frank was at his best when kerry could call on the services of kerrys greatest player ever, the great m. fitz, his passes inwards were sublime and generally on a plate. gooch is proberly the only present kerry player capable of such feats of sublime distribution to give an inside forward the vital split seconds space to thrive an reck havock in an oppositions defence. gooch at 11 with dec at 13,mike frank at 15 with brosnan solely as a ball winner at 14 might be worth looking at it. although i feel mike frank plays better at 13. ah sure we will live and hope, nothing like a crisis to focus and concentrate the minds of the troubled.

While Declan hasnt being performing to his potential he's still been contributing an awful lot more than Brosnan this year.

Buck 02 im with u on that, whats all this talk about declan playing so for so long.....for all of yee that dont go to league games he was as consistent as the rest of them, was the only one that showed any heart in the waterford game. his form has dipped granted but there are other players not performed to the high standard we expect, its not an individual issue!

I am with you 100% there the1. He scored n every round of the league and yet people kept on his back. Declan is being held to a far higher standard than other players on that team. Now I agree he is not playing anywhere near his true form but netiehr is Tomas O Se, neither is Gooch, neither is Brosnan, Moynihan, Mike Mac, Diarmud Murphy, and the criticism isn't anywhere near as venomous or spiteful.

we will need declan, colm and mike frank firing on all cylinders as scoring forwards to win sam this year,i dont understand this mentality of kicking people in the balls when they are down, dont think paidi was too far out really, if the three lads dont come into form we may as well take our collective john thomas's and mary ellens up to the top of carrauntoohill some sunday and "you ryan ate" into the wind.

someone mentioned that Quill never did it in a championship match. well someone tell me when he ever got a start in a meaningful championship game even after top scoring in the league. I have nothing against Paul O'Connor. I think he is a good prospect but surely Quill had more a proven record on league form at county level & at club level than O'Connor & would have warranted a start against Cork more than O'Connor.

it might have been a bad call for quill to pull out mossie the year hassett and cinneade retired,i didnt see fitzmaurice or mike frank following suit, both are still trying there damndest to make the team.
