Its time to abandon this. With TG4 in place there should no need to make us suffer the dulcet tones of Michael O'Se anymore.... It wrecks the minor coverage for me.... Whaddya think?

Have to agree with CCfEI and scoobydo there. A nice touch by RTE to still have it and it helps with the auld gaeilge as well. Long may it continue !!!

I think RTE are (at least they used to be) actually contracted to present 2 matches in Irish every year. At least they used to be, I may have read it in Micheal's book.

I have poor Irish unfortunately, but I don't think they should stop covering the minor matches in Irish. It is coverage of Gaelic games after all!
If you're stuck use the radio (or learn some Irish)!.
Its an awful pity the voting polls were dropped from the site - they were ideal for this sort of thing.

Jesus ye are as thick off the pitch as ye are on it. Why not stay in exile and then you won't have to listen to our native tongue any more. Better still you could turn off the sound on the tv and listen to Brian Carty or the likes. You'll be in the minority though as most GAA people have a respect for all things Gaelic including the language. Micheal O'Se is a fine commentator and always brings excitement to the game. He is as much a part of the All Ireland final day as Michael is on the radio and long may it continue. If we were playing Dublin would there be stupid threads like this opened?

This reminds me of one of the post-match interviews of the public in Killarney after the 2004 final where one fella said he was delighted with the win but that O Cinneide should have given his speech in English as it's our native tongue and more people speak it than do Irish. The moron mustn't have realised that Irish is O Cinneide's native tongue.

What rubbish Duaghexile. Michael O'Sé is one of the best commentators around. He does't use stupid fancy words that Canning just can't stop using. Also Marty shouldn't be allowed to interupt/co-comentate unless he speaks in Irish. It spoils the whole effect.
What will you want next?? Duagh to join Limerick for the hurling championship perhaps?

It does not matter if you Irish is poor. When you are away from it like I am its harder, But!! its amazing how fast it will come back to you when you listen to it for a whaile. I think its very important to our games and oue heritage. We are Irish after all. Long may it rein.

I don't usually join in such inept and pointless threads but having moved abroad only recently, it was a great pleasure to listen to Michael O'Se on Sunday last commentating on the All Ireland minor hurling final on my laptop in my room in far away land. Certainly made me feel at home for the morning.

Please dont change this tradition!! If they rid of this great tradition who would they give to: the likes of Marty, Ger Canning or worst of all Jim Carney?!!
Michael does a great job in fairness!! I would nearly prefer it if he did all the commentaries compared the the guys who do it in English

Duaghexile looks like you've backed the wrong horse with this topic.
I also disagree with the idea of scrapping the gaelic commentary and in fact would be in favour of more commentary as Gaeilge.
Stacks my heart goes out to you, stranded abroad in a far away land just yourself and the laptop.
What part of London are you in?

I'm over in a place that is so removed from Gaelic culture, they think Gaelic is the butter you put over a good mushroom :-)

Aontaím go h-uile agus go h-iomlán le Baxter agus na h-éinne eile a sheas suas d'ár dteanga dhúchais. Is cuid d'ár spirid agus ár gcultúr í An Ghaoluinn. Agus is cuid ana mhór den traidisiúin í ar lá na Craoibhe. Dia idir sinn agus an anachain, ach n'fhéadfainn Craobh Mionúir na hÉireann a shamhlú agus amadán éigint ar nós Moloney nó Morrissey ag déanamh an tráchtaireacht. Tá cuid mhaith de pholaisí teangan an CLG imithe i léig le blianta beaga anuas - ainmneacha na h-imreoirí sa chlár anois as Béarla is ea ceann acu. Tá sé de dhulgas ar an nglúin seo an Ghaoluinn a chaomhnú agus gur fada buan í.
