Agree with you Kerrygold.
In my opinion O'Dywer got the best out of Laois, a trumped up bunch of players who started to believe in their own hype. Their best performance was against Armagh in 03 when they should have won and were unlucky with some poor refereeing decisions.
O'Dwyer is a complete and utter legend but more importantly in the context of this discussion is also a current top manager and coach. To suggest otherwise is too simplistic and ignores the continuing genius of the man.
I suspect this attitude arises because he has been around a long time and is still taking the hits. Still though it's inexcusable in my book, Stacks, to suggest that he is falling short of today's best coaching standards and methods.
Mickey Harte is hailed as the best coach of all time in some quarters , however he will forever remainin in o'Dwyers shadow.

I'm with Stacks. I think Micko's methods are far too outdated for todays game. Leinster is a fairly easy province and Laois' record is relatively poor. Saying that I think Laois are a poor enough side with a couple of very good players but no real physical edge.
Paidi did well to win 3 all irelands but his last 3 years were awful.

I don't disagree that some of his methods are outdated, i do disagree that he under performed in laois. I believe that the talent available at under age did not give itself the best chance of making through to challenge the senior panel, these lads had success underage and became legends in a county that yearned for any type of national success, as would happen to a lot of young fellas they believed they'd made the big time and most didn't fulfill their ability, not mickos fault in my opinion.

No but given the players at his disposal in comparison to the teams that have won Leinster recently I do believe that he could have won a couple of more Leinsters.

They weren't far off and should've done better which is my point. That he could have got more out of them. Yer only lucky Mayo expsosed ye because we would have run riot against ye in the final and made ye look very ordinary.

Jack O Connor would be a massive loss to Kerry if he quit now.

Jack O Connor would be a massive loss to Kerry if he quit now. it will be very important now to do the right thing for the kerry team. the lads seem to be reaching their peak physically at the moment,a new trainer might not be a good move,it might be better to keep pat in charge to build on the work of the last three years. Jack might want to give it another lash,he has earned the right to decide that for himself, there's unfinished business against tyrone especially, seamus and dara might feel the same,i wouldn't bet against retaining it next year, this could have been a three in a row with a small bit of luck.
