We beat Skellig by 3 points but had our goalie to thank for some wonderful saves.
Good 2 points though and we'll be looking for another 2 against Beaufort at home next.
Annascaul look the team to beat already though.

its a disgrace that clubs like annascaul and dingle have to play in conditions like that experienced in dromid and that of other south kerry places! What other pitches in South Kerry are you referring to Wonka? Apart from Dromid (which is in poor shape at this time of year admittedly) the quality of fields there is decent enough.

Annascaul beat Dingle in the West Kerry League last weekend eventhough Dingle were missing a few regulars. Annascaul are a spirited side but I feel that Dingle will have too much class on the day. Annascaul have an over reliance on the likes of Genie Farrell, Emmet Kennedy and Niall Sheehy whereas Dingle have more options all over the field. a lot of theteams in div 2 are similiar the likes of Spa rely on the free taking ability of Ross O Donovan eventhough I must say I'm very impressed with the attitude of their players bar the Gleeson brothers who cant seem to zip the mouths. Sean Counihan has done a fine job

Sean Counihan has done a fine job If anything the Gleeson brothers have been outstanding for us. Brian was unreal against Skellig at the weekend. And we earn our frees - mostly due to Stam and Niall being hit/ taken out of it. Ross is good at em but the fellas who earn them are just as important.

Fattom..wasnt at the game but but heard Skellig were very poor..they were trying to make backs into forwards, notably Steven and Wayne O Sullivan in the half forward line..these are good defenders..but only for J.Devane in goal Skellig could of stole a draw..what kind of gane was it?Who played well for both teams??

Theres a lot of bias with referees all over the county. Who would want to be a ref? Genie is in his mid 30's and still boppin around!!

I didn't make it. Devane and Gleeson stood out for us. No one played bad really but our players were average all over the pitch bar the affore mentioned too. Which would make you happy enough. Skellig were poor going by what I heard but could have stole a draw. I asked the lads who Wayne was marking and they said he was in the half forwards. Couldn't understand it.

Ardfert really struggled in their opening game in the division against Currow. Looked dead and buried after oplaying with a strong wind but only being level at half time. Wallace(I-3) and egan again bailed them out in the forwards but the backs were very good in the second half. Ref put Conor Flaherty off for blocking a ball down!!!! In all my years of watching football it was the worst decision I ever saw. The currow players even pleaded with him over the decision!! Keiran Scanlon was the guy that was blocked down and he was like Paolo di canio pleading with the ref that he made a wrong decision! Question though....Has Ardferts bubble burst after a long campaign last year?

I know Skellig are short of forwards but to put Steven O Sullivan on the 40 and Wayne O Sullivan wing forward must weaken your backs...Spa were suppose to be very strong around the middle and iwas told, as you have already told us, Niall and Stam drew alot of frees, hence would Steven or Wayne done better jobs on them...don't think there too happy in the Skellig camp at the moment..

Niall took Killian Burns for 7/8 points from play last year. On his day he could do that to Sullivan too. Maybe they wanted to two boys in the half forwards for their experience and to protect from ball going in. Crowd it up around the middle maybe.

I was at the ardfert v currow match Sunday, bad call by the referee to send off conor flaherty for blocking his man, i think he called a foot block when there was none to be seen, and currow ended up kicking the equalizer to draw the match from the resulting free, but currow will feel they could have easily taken full points from this game as their fowards very extremely wasteful in front of goal, ardfert also missed good goal chances with john egan hitting the cross bar, saying their bubble has burst is a bit unfair as they are only back training with a week and some players have yet to return to training, but they will have to improve considerably in the months to come as they will have trips to dingle and play teams in south kerry which will cause alot more trouble than currow, they also picked up few injuries on Sunday but not sure if they are long term or not.

Finuge might as well pull out of the league, they are down to play Currow on Sunday. They will be missing Paul & Eamon to the Kerry Footballers. Tweeky Griffin, Trevor McKenna, Mike Quilter & Paudie Lyons to the Kerry Hurlers on Sunday. At present there is no chance of the game postponed. In the Hurling League Lixnaw have given three walkovers (no team).

When last did you see blood flowing in a waterville dromid match seamus? In fairness the last 3 or 4 have been played in good spirits. hard games yes but little or none of the nastiness that has gone on before.

Whoever wins between Dingle and Annascaul will certainly fancy themselves to go up. I think dingle will have too much up front if they get enough of the ball
