In this country, on the electronic media, in the print media, there is wall to wall coverage of soccer. Rugby is making huge inroads. Listening to sports bulletins on radio, one is lucky to hear a G.AA. item tucked in at the end.
The G.A.A., an amateur movement, has to compete against these international, cash rich organisations. The G.P.A.'s response? They pop into the suggestion box the good old, imaginative strike trick. Against whom are they striking? For what are they striking? It is difficult to have sympathy for boys with a death wish.

I posed two questions regarding the G.P.A. and Kerrygold answers by asking another.
In any case, what does " a salt of the earth" player mean? Are there players who are not "salt of the earth".
This proposed strike? A blunderbuss response from a puzzling organisation.

The GPA are a classic example as a "make it up as we go along" organisation. They have done and said so many contradictory things in their time that they cannot be taken seriously.
For example: Dessie Farrell blasted Sunday Game pundits for stuff they said about players, saying these guys are paid to give their opinions and the players are amateur players. Dessies monthly pay package comes from the GPA.
Dessie Farrell does not allow the players who represented Cork in the opening rounds of the national hurling league cannot join the GPA.
I could go on.
Nobody or nothing is immune to spending cuts by the Government so why the GPA can expect themselves to be different I don not know.

Obviously you have no interest in discussing this so i wont waste anymore of my time with you only to add that theres a lot of very genuine players involved in the GPA organisation.

It must be pretty frustrating to have gone through 5 different presidents and to have made little progress.Seems Cooney has little interest in progressing forward either. It will be interesting to see what Brennans side kick Duffy will do to progress matters as he has been involved previously with player welfare within croker.

Kerrygold,
I have a great interest in this topic. If you or anybody else could answer the two questions I posed, I will be very happy to pursue it further.

Their withdrawing cooperation from the various commercial media outlets that run commercial busnessess off the back of their efforts on the field of play.I wouldn't have considered that to be strike action.

Kerrygold,
Have they "withdrawn co-operation" from RTE TV/Radio?
On a different matter, I thought I read somewhere that Paul had accepted his one month suspension which would mean that he would be out for the 11.07.09 match. Not sure.

As far as I know they have withdrawn co-operation from RTE for the Munster Hurling Final and Leinster Football Final to begin with. RTE are sponsors of Croke Park.
