Should be very open with Kilmoyley,Lixnaw and Ballyduff as the main contenders. But O'dorney and the Brendans could have a good run.

ballyduff would be better off to get kilmoyley again in the first round again as they were too cocky going into abbeydorney match last year. kilmoyley after setting up a "youth academy" and moyler da eejet is trying to bring back neilus to da duck pond! lixnaw still will be in with a good shout if they can solve their problems they had before the final last year and start looking after their players and stop balackgaurding players like mark ryall and mike cronin they got handy draw last year as all good teams battling each other in the other half ardfert might not have time for hurling this year after their success with the football. abbeydorney would want to improve from the pathetic show of hurling they put up in da final last year.

Any truth, Ballyduffmann, in the story that Ballyduff are concentrating on the football this year, with the main aim of following in Ardfert's footsteps?

think that it will be kilmoyleys year i am afraid to say.think they are hell bent on retaining the championship this year.Myler has a whole new backroom team so he means business.as for any challengers lixnaw will be there biggest opposition but only if they can get Galvin and Fitzmaurice to play.they wouldnt be county champions now only for these two players. Abbeydorney wont get near the final this year.Ballyduff if they put their minds to it could do it but thats easier said then done.as for the rest there only making up the numbers

no team will come near Kilmoyley this year. St. Brendan's!!!! dont make me laugh. After their attempt last year they would be better off going down and trying to win the intermediate. That club is in total dissarray. Lixnaw as outsiders and maybe Ballyduff but they may go footballing. The first round of the junior football championship will have a big bearing on which way they go I feel

Is Aidan Cronin back with Lixnaw? If so he will seriously strengthen their chances of doing back to backs.

Kilmoyley are showing good form already, had 2 big wins during the week. and shane brick and colin harris were missing so think they mean business. Lixnaw seem to be giving walkovers in every game, not a good sign but early days i suppose. Abbeydorney seem to be doing average, few of there better players are in Oz though at moment. Heard they've a new goalie from Cork who is meant to be pretty handy by all accounts. Not sure how Ballyduff are going.
Are the draws for championship this week, think i heard they are...

Kilmoyley regaining the County title is not the foregone conclusion some contibutors make it out to be. They are nowhere near as good as they were 2 years ago. However, with Shane Brick in their team they are always a force to be reckoned with. I gather they have shook up their backroon team a bit which should freshen things up for them. A lot of people have been baffled by some of their team selections in recent times. Kilmoyley were well beaten by Ballyduff last year and absolutely hockeyed by Toomevara in 2004. Getting back into a winning groove is not always that easy as other sides are on the way up.
Lixnaw are always a mess this time of year. I would expect them to re-group as the summer comes in. They wouldnt have got a replay in the County Final last yr if they hadnt Paul Galvin to spring from the bench and wouldnt have won the replay without starting Eamon Fitz & Paul Galvin. Without them which they probably will be , they are vulnerable. Ballyduff have plenty of talent in their ranks and Kilmoyley are no longer a bogey team after last year. Any forward line that includes a few Boyles, Joe Bunyan, Gary O'Brien and Barry O'Grady will be difficult to hold.
I think it will come down to 3 teams Lixnaw, Kilmoyley and Ballyduff with Ballyduff my fancy at present. Ardfert are maybe a season or two away from being a real force. I think O'Dorney missed a golden opportunity last year - 5 pts up in a county final with 10 mins left and an extra man. It will be interesting to see how they get on this year.

when are the championship draws on?

Heard the draw was to be made last Wednesday night but put back for some reason. I think the draw is now being made in two weeks. At the hurling league game between Lixnaw and Ballyheigue last Monday night, Lixnaw were missing eight or nine of the starting 15 who played in last years final. Ballyheigue had a full team and only managed to Lixnaw by one. Lixnaw haven't trained once this year and must be serious contenders for this year again. Early days but I predict Lixnaw to do back to back!

i would be thinking Abbeydoreny, kilmoyley, ballyduff (unless kerry footballers are knocked out of championship before this game and lixnaw able to have full squad), and Ballyheigue? ? Anybody kno when these games are fixed for?

no clear cut winners here i think. Abbeydorney though may edge past Brendans. Kilmoyley are way better than Crotta but Crotta will be fired up for this one and i expect it to be much closer than what most people will expect. I fancy Lixnaw over Ballyduff regardless of galvin/fitzmaurice Ballyheigue/Causeway to be very close with ballyheigue edgeing it.
I fancy Lixnaw very strongly to regain their title.

The dates have been made for the Hurling Championship: Friday 11/08/2006 Causeway Vs Ballyheigue Saturday 12/08/2006 Kilmoyley Vs Crotta Abbeydorney Vs Ardfert Sunday 13/08/2006 Lixnaw Vs Ballyduff
I think it is going to be between Lixnaw, Ballyduff & Kilmoyley. Ballyduff are always contenders, Kilmoyley have a very soft drawn. But I think Lixnaw could do back-to-back. With the way the Kerry Footballers are playing, they could have their footballers back. Hoping Kilmoyley and Lixnaw Final!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can see the Lixnaw game being called off/put back because me thinks they wont play if their footballers aren't available to them. Kilmoyley wil win handy. Causeway will beat B'heigue. O'Dorney/Brendans will be a humdinger. Very hard to call this one!

I dont think the county board will put the game back for lixnaw. the hurling championship goes on now irrespective of the football. It became a right mess a few years back when they put it back waiting for kerry footballers to become available. the bottom line is if they want to play club hurling they should be left like in every other county.
anyway kerry could well be out of the football championship the week before so they would be available to Lixnaw.
Kilmoyley are putting in a bif effort to regain their title & the general consensus is that the competition will be decided between them & the winners of Ballyduff v Lixnaw. Still the standard has evened out somewhat & Abbeydorney really upset the apple cart last year.

expert05 and driveon.. ye should do some research before make stupid comments that odorney could beat ardfert!!!!!! Ardfert are flying this year and have beaten odorney well in the last two games they met. Ardfert have changed the focus completely from football this year to hurling, and have a complete new backroom team, Kilmoyley will always be dangerous and ballyduff too, cant see lixnaw doing the double but i could be proved wrong.

Abbeydorney must have some chance of beating Ardfert surely. they beat Lixnaw in the league at the weekend so they must be playing ok. id still fancy Ardfert to win that game but i don't think it will be an easy win

The last time I check this site everyone could give their personal opinion Mossiemag. I think myself that Ardfert/St Brendan's bubble is about to burst shortly. Don't think it will be Abbeydorney though that will do that. At the Lixnaw V Abbeydorney match Sunday, not impressed by either side but still think Lixnaw will be the team to beat. Alot of effort being put in there at the moment. Kilmoyley will start the championship as hot favourites.

Yes you are right weeshie and i gave my opinion. Ardfert were beaten by ballyduff last week and one could say the bubble has burst. Personally i think Odorney were a flash in the pan last year. Kilmoyley are hot favourites but maybe lacking a bit of hunger? Still fancy ballyduff or Ardfert to do very well. lixnaw not up to much, champ starts in 2 weeks, any team serious about it should be peaking now.

Weeshie, what sort of teams had Lixnaw/Odorney out last weekend? any major changes on the teams from last year. Think John Griffin is away at moment

MOSSIEMAG, i said that Abbeydorney will edge past Ardfert not beat them out the gate as you have hinted at. We'll have to se how good Ardfert are i suppose! think they have alot more interest in the big ball.
