Kerry is mourning the death of former star county footballer Eddie Walsh, who passed away at the age of 92.
One of the true legends of Kerry football, Walsh won five All-Ireland medals with the Kingdom, in 1937, ’39, ’40, ’41 and ’46, and collected eight Munster championship crowns.
The Knocknagoshel clubman played half back and was a member of the Kerry side that contested the 1947 All-Ireland final against Cavan at the Polo Grounds in New York.

Very sad news. Eddie was a gentleman and will be missed.
Sincere condolences to the Walsh family.

sorry to hear that news,i had the previlage and honour of having his team mate from that era and captain of the kerry team from the 1947 final in the polo grounds,Dinny Lyne, stay in my house for a few nights 12 months before he too passed away. The conversation was mostly about football and it still hurt him deeply to that day that they were beaten in the polo grounds by cavan. His passion for kerry was still on fire at that great age.A lovely man, may God be good to them both.
