just wondering who thinks that junior football should be done away with. what i mean by this is to leave all counties in ireland produce a second team as opposed to the present situation where no senior club team players can play. this would create alot more interest as it would be seen as a stepping stone on to senior level and would create and gain much more respect standard would improve and players wpould stop disapearing after u21 level

good point.
But some intercounty teams would only have their bear 24/25 decent footballers, but this could act as a feeder from u21 is that what you are saying?

might be an idea as it will difficult for junior manager's in the likes of kerry to put together quality teams with it becoming so easy to stay a senior club nowadays

Only problem though is that you're robbing clubs of the best players they have left available to them with their senior fellas already being away, thus creating more havoc with the club fixtures and in the skill level of the club competitions. Also, in most counties, it would only mean the next level of lads from places like Laune Rangers, Stacks, O'Rahillys, etc would be feeding this team, and not giving players of junior stature the opportunity to play for their county.

I would have to agree with austinstacksabu here....while marks idea is a good and would be benifical and interesting, the prospect of junior players ever representing kerry would dimenish greatly...also imagine the gaeltacht without the three se's and cinneade as well as maybe three or four more ( just an example!!!)....it would be very hard for the team to function logically.........

How come there's no intermediate competition in football like there is in hurling?

jsut to reply toi will you go down on the ball i think there is a bad attitude towards the junior team in kerry if this was opened up to cater for all teams in kerry and all other counties then possibly former u21's who may have slipped on might keep up the intensive training for the hope to progress on further just when you look at some excellent minor and u21 players who have never been heard of since

I think the Junior competition should be used by Kerry as a stepping stone for former minors and u21's with most of the players under 23. This year players like Donnacha Walsh, Doona, Declan Osullivan (lispole), Daniel Doyle should all be drafted in.

The jnior team should come from the second best team available. In reply to StacksABu if it were managed properly it would cause less problems that the U-21. And as regards junior club players how many are really interested. Hasn't that been the problem in recent years. And again the junior clubs have their own All-Ireland to aim for now.

In most of the weaker counties including Limerick, Tipperary and Roscommon their Junior team is their second string. What hope would these counties have if all the other counties were allowed play their second string?
