Another one to look forward to, this time in Killarney. It will be another tough game as Monaghan will be desperate for the win as they are in a relegattion fight now.

Could be a tricky game alright. Probably see a few changes again to try out a few different players

We can expect a big reaction from Monaghan for sure, given how they went down against Tyrone and their Division 1 status most definitely now on the line. Big test again for our Kerry defence and interesting to see who takes up McManus. They'll be testing out Shane Ryan too in and around the square because Malachy O'Rourke doesn't miss a trick. Monaghan don't show much fear of Kerry in recent times and have beaten them two years running in the league including the last time they came to our big house in Killarney. Hope we beat them and keep up our new winning habit - leave the calling card boys - new era, new Kerry.

McManus will be full forward and Sherwood full back so it makes sense. We haven't yet seen Sherwood actually in the full back line as most of the time he has been on a roving full forward. If he can get to grips with McManus and limit him to 2 or 3 points then we know he can handle any full forward and is the man for full back. It would be nice to keep this winning streak aswell. It creates an air of confidence and a feel good factor. It would also be good if we were guaranteed a spot on the final going into the Roscommon game as I think we would be great to go ultra experimental and have a good look at lads we otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity to.

Due to other commitments, I can’t make this one but have 3 season tickets available if anyone has use for them. 2 adults and a juvenile. Any interest message me.

We have to be a bit cuter than last year re mcmanus if left 1-1 he will beat us on his own. I would like to see mccarthy get a run here, assume there wont be too many changes griffin worth another look at in mf imho.

TG4 will be showing the Kerry v Monaghan game as the deferred coverage match. Their live game is Roscommon v Dublin

McManus will test the defence alright. He takes a lot of scores from the left half forward or right half forward position. I think Peter will want Sherwood to become a full back that anchors the defence and not be sucked out to the wings, so its likely that someone else will be given man marking duties even if McManus lines out at full forward. It does appear that Jack wanders out a lot at the moment but that is different to having to follow a player everywhere.

Hopefully we'll see a bit of Jason Foley in this one. I think he has potential to be an important part of the line-up.

Monaghan have made good use of the offensive mark to date and this is bound to be something we will have to counteract on Sunday - should make for an interesting afternoon! Paul Geaney, Kevin McCarthy & Adrian Spillane I believe are all available, Jameso may make the bench, David Moran out for a few more weeks.

Away to Kerry Home v Rossies Away to Mayo
Thats Monaghans run in.
They will look at Donegal and see that getting back to Division 1 is not straightforward.
So, Monaghans desire to win will surely be huge next Sunday. If too many of their big players have lost form though, desire wont do.

Current Top 4 remaining fixtures - most likely 2 from this four will end up contesting the league final.
Kerry on 8pts with Monaghan(H), Mayo(H) & Rosc(A) Mayo on 6pts with Galway(H), Kerry(A) & Monaghan(A) Dublin on 4 pts with Rosc(A), Tyrone(H) & Cavan(A) Galway on 4 pts with Mayo(A), Rosc(H) & Tyrone(A)
Hard to see Dublin dropping points in any of their remaining game and can see them on 10 at end of campaign. Also Dublin not playing any other top four side. The other 3 top four sides all play one another at least once with Mayo having to play two top four sides in remaining fixtures. Mayo V Galway will be a big game in deciding the final.

Hopefully we'll see a bit of Jason Foley in this one. I think he has potential to be an important part of the line-up. Agreed. I would have thought he would be the best bet to mark McManus. It's strange that he hasn't gotten any time up to now as he has been on the bench (at least for some of the games).

Geaney on frees I am not sure would that be a positive or potential negative for his general game.

Id rather that for one game then flogging o shea like last year he was good until the super8s where he looked jaded probably mentally more than anything. Lot of pressure on that young man carrying everyteam he is on ucc kerry and Kenmare. We will need him at 100pc in the quarters

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Ryan take frees at times for Rathmore? I'm not a fan of Keepers taking frees, but 65s and further out the keeper probably has the best accuracy and the best legs. At least he should be. Sean O'Shea is just exceptional, like Maurice Fitz and Sheehan. And that's not hyping him up. He does have the makings of that class of freetaker. In reality, all forwards should be able to kick a ball over the bar closer in. It is an essential skill for forwards in my opinion to take points. Moran already carries a lot of the responsibilities in the team and is the unofficial captain and leader of the team to me, along with Geaney. Given how freely Dara Moynihan scores from play perhaps he can be given free taking duties in training? I'm sure they have thought those things over in training already so we will just have to wait and see.

It makes sense to have Ryan try the long range fees and perhaps Geaney take the closer ones... but I suspect it will be SÓS.

SOS looked tired last Sunday. He is becoming/has become a leader of the team as an u21 player. Phenomenal stuff from him and from DC last summer also.

The way I look at this, is the Munster Championship once heads are right won't be too taxing for Kerry (how sad is that?) and we can definitely turn it down a notch or two and time training to begin peaking for the Super 8s. Boot to the floor now for the league final and get as much meaningful big game experience into the youngsters as possible. With regards SOS and rest and for a few others - they'll be plenty time for resting fellas from the beginning of April until the Super 8s in mid-July. Games are far more valuable than training at the moment for a new and developing team and my understanding is the training is not too taxing right now and they are monitoring the players closely. We've got to trust Peter and his management and especially the Kerry S&C guys know what they are doing.
PS: For those who say we won the league 2017 and it didn't do us any good - my memory is the management paniced as that year went on - we drew a semi final we should have won and were up in heap against Mayo come the replay in Croke Park. New context, new era, new team, new management. Come on the kingdom - go for it!

This will be a tough assignment especially given that Monaghan are fighting for survival.
They have a good record against us too, they beat us the last two years in the league and they also beat us in Tralee a few years ago, so Monaghan will have no fear of coming down to Kerry to play us.
I wouldnt be surprised if the 100% record was gone on Sunday evening.
