Time to re-focus on the next game.
RTE lists it as being in Pearse Stadium but some posters are saying Tuam - which is it. Also heard or read somewhere that Galway currently missing up to 18 of their squad - any truth in this?

They are missing probably half a dozen players with Corofin and a few areinjured including Comer but 18 sounds a stretch.

They are missing probably half a dozen players with Corofin and a few areinjured including Comer but 18 sounds a stretch. GAA.ie has it down as Tuam as does the Galway GAA site and the Kerry GAA site, so it looks like RTE have it wrong. Kerry were missing 10 from the squad between club duty and injuries on Saturday night. David Clifford Killian Young James O’Donoghue Killian Spillane Kevin McCarthy Shane Murphy Gavin White Michael Potts Michael Burns David Shaw I think Kerry were missing 19 at one stage last year in the league, so 18 isn't impossible. I know Galway were missing a fair few going in to the Dublin game and they picked up a few injuries in that. Some of their injuries might clear up with the 2 week gap, but it does look like they will be down a fair few. With their win over Monaghan, Galway are on 4 points but their score difference is -8 so while they look safeish, they definitely aren't as safe as Kerry as this point. They do have a head-to head win against bottom of the table Cavan in their fight to avoid relegation. Even if worst case scenario Kerry lost all 4 remaining games, the odds on survival are helped by the fact that Kerry have head-to-head wins over the 3 bottom teams. If Kerry win over Galway and Tyrone lose to Monaghan in the next round, Kerry would be 100% safe from relegation, which would be a very nice situation to be in after 4 rounds. In truth after 3 wins the more relevant question is all about getting to a league final. With Galway in 3rd place on 4 points, a win over them would get us within touching distance of one of the two league final spots. Galway's form in the league so far has been nothing to write home about - I saw the game against Dublin and their 2nd half performance was beyond abyssmal - the worrying thing from Galway's point of view was there was only a point in it at half time but in the second half they just seemed to completely throw in the towel and let the Dubs just walk all over them (Dubs won the 2nd half 1-9 to 2 points) Seemed to turn it around some bit in the Monaghan game yesterday but were fortunate in terms of the goal they got. I'd be hoping that Kerry would get the win here and continue on with the progress made so far.

Ian Burke was the only Corofin player to play championship with Galway last year. Liam Silke was in the States last summer. Kieran Molloy will probably make the Galway bench. On the injuries front, corner back Kyne and half back McDaid are out for the rest of the league. Full back O'Ceallaigh is out for a few more weeks. Comer hasn't played yet in the league. I'm not sure when he will be back

The list of Round 4 fixtures in last Saturday night's programme gives the venue as Tuam. GAA.ie are selling tickets for Tuam. Old stadium but great footballing field. It is the spiritual football home. Worth a few points for Galway.

It has held high 20’s in the past. Will be difficult to get tickets for but anyone that does go will probably be home quicker than from Salthill.

It will probably be a dour game based on the way Galway play at the moment but that will be a different test for our lads. Depending on how the Sigerson goes a few of our lads may be unavailable. The semi is on this weekend with the final midweek so if UCC make the final O’Shea and O’Beaglaíoch (& others?) will hardly play.

Tuam is a new venue for me even though it was my late father’s home town. How big is the stadium? I googled it and was surprised to find an article from the Connaught Tribune describing the stand as “delapidated” and the capacity cut to 6,000 due to safety reasons. Admittedly this was a couple of years ago and renovations were planned but have they happened yet? Shades of Inniskeen last year spring to mind. Any Kerry exiles in Galway or old hands have any tips for parking and refreshments?

St. Jarlath's Park is newly renovated though and not as delappedated as you might think. I usually park near the Church, coaches often park there as well, when staying at the Corralea Court, food not bad there either, but really like the Ard Rií for food, which is about half an hour's walk away. Big enough parking lot though. The Ard Rí is usually also a stopping point for the Galway teams on their way back. Met the Galway hurlers there last year after the semi final.

We played Donegal I think it was, years ago in a league playoff or semi final up in Tuam.
The stand looked like a hayshed and a pal of mine who lives up that direction tells me it hasn't changed much.
Its located down the back of a housing estate.
Pitch is meant to be good surface.

That's the hayshed as I remember it. Still the same in December before Christmas. Doubt anything has changed. The "terraces" have been updated though and the pitch is okay. Way better than the pitch in Cork

I wonder will we see a few more names available for this one? David Clifford, Kevin McCarthy and more importantly JOD? He seems to have disappeared? Anyone have any update on him?

Jod has a back issue not sure about him for two weeks. Clifford should be given as much time as he needs absolutely no need for him to come back we are save now and no harm for other fellas get a run and take responsibility which they are in fairness. Kevin mcarthy has a broken hand by all accounts so be a few weeks yet. Like Veteran posted elsewhere i liked the cut of Liam Carey from beaufort for the minors worth a look?

A very different challenge in a couple of weeks. From the conundrum of "how do you keep Dublin from scoring" back to a similar challenge we had in the first game "how do you break these guys down and get scores".
Will be good to see how the team can adapt to a very different challenge even at this stage.
Kevin Mac, I doubt we will see for a while yet.
Are JOD and Cliffored not out for the bulk of the league I thought?

One more win and we are sure of division 1 status. Two more wins and we are as good as sure of a league final. Do we want to rush Kevin Mac, James and Clifford back or Foley, Gavin White, Michael Burns and so on? Probably others as well that will be in the championship panel. We are doing well at the moment and giving players some vital experience. If we can get to a league final without even having the full panel we can build on a very solid platform for the championship.

Would love to see Liam Carey getting a run - I recall he turned a semi or the final Kerrys way when he was a minor - cant recall the exact match. Great eye for a score and very mobile from what I recall.

Next Sunday will not be pretty to watch, that's a given and we may have to mirror Galway's approach by playing a counter attacking style. Games that descend to this level can often depend on a reliable free taker, especially at this time of the year. Seán O Shea has been vital to our successes thusfar and is undroppable at this stage. It will be interesting to see what team takes to the field next Sunday.
This weekend seems a lot emptier after last weekend's high!

Is Daithi Casey an option in midfield with Jack Barry? He'd a good game yesterday.

Is Daithi Casey an option in midfield with Jack Barry? He'd a good game yesterday. Probably does not have the engine to go end-to-end against the top teams. Far better kicker and passer than Barry he might be but engine not there.
