HUGE win . Sounded like we were well up for the strength of Throne.
Young guns stood up well too by the sounds of it.
Hunger, Pace, tenacity were words used during the KR commentary.
Well done to all involved.

Some of the negativity during the week on here should be silenced tonight.Youd have thought we were in Division 4 with some of the commentary.Well done to team and management.

Savage positive start to the league. Is Donie Buckley's stamp evident already?

Savage positive start to the league. Is Donie Buckley's stamp evident already? He’s only been at 1 session, max two. If it is down to him he must be some trainer!! Today’s result had nothing got to do with him at all. The result was 90% down to being a fresh camp and fresh enthusiasm being instilled by the new management.

Tomas and Marc spoiled us. As well as being great defenders they could burst forward and take a score. Many thought that the measure of a half back was how often he could do that. We even played wing forwards at wing back. Lyne was a victim of that madness. He was completely at sea in defence. He never knew whether to stay with his man, go for the ball, or run forward to take a pass. Clueless. So when we say he got loads of trials - he did but mostly in the wrong position. He could be a success at wing forward and is worth another look. Totally wrong way round. Johnathon Lyne was a wing back out and out and was converted to a wing forward. Messed him up. He played all his football at wing back, Minor, Hogan Cup Final, Club and his first 3 years on the kerry panel

Good start new attitude learned a lot today expect some changes for next week and every week going forward We need to blood these players now in the league final to have a shot at the big one in Late August . I’d being going to get to the league final for that big day in Croke Park under the spotlight to gel this team and temper them for our title quest . We re going for it ,lets get that straight . Watching the Dub v Mon game today it looked like they’ scrapped the wrong new rule . If they had left the limited hand pass in then we would not need the advance mark rule which to me looks fake. The only damper on the game today was the few long passages of hand passing mania but over all good game where Monaghan are still getting better and Dublin’s bully boy tactics are being spotted by the refs.

Good start, the home points will be vital this year. That sideline point by Sean O'Shea was wonderful.
I still haven't defrosted despite a long walk back to the car. It was pretty grim weatherwise but very good crowd 12,000 plus.
Onwards and upwards.

Agree on the changes and it’s vital that we do so, as it’s the only way to build a team - Brian O’Beaglaoi & Sean O’Shea will be in Sigerson actionb the Weds before we take on Dublin and maybe should be rested next week; let’s try Tommy Walsh in full forward with Jameso or go again with Diarmuid O’Connor plus some game time for David Moran perhaps. Defensively we were good - held our shape & our discipline - this will improve; likewise Donie Buckley, a good forward himself, will bring his stamp to proceedings. Overall, a great start, plenty of positives & the two points gained will bring a spring to the step next week.

The big positive is 2 points in the bag.
However I definitely wouldn't be getting too excited about this performance given how rancid Tyrone were all over and especially in attack. The fact that it's a struggle to think of any of their players who had anything approaching to a reasonable/decent performance says a world. Between the amount of errors they made and the lack of energy by their players, I wouldn't be surprised if they had been on the booze overnight and climbed Carrauntoohil this morning.
Dara Moynihan the player who probably did the most in terms of improving his overall position in the pecking order. Looks like it will be a serious battle between the two Shanes in terms of the No 1 goalkeeper. We're up and running, roll on Cavan.

I was amazed how poor Tyrone were and in reality Kerry were 8 or 9 points a better team. Pity O Brien didn't chip Morgan that time in the first half, it was all set up for egg on Morgans face. No Kerry man shirked responsibility when it came to putting their body on the line. A few of the newer lads might have dwelt on the ball a split second too long but they will get used to the pace of senior intercounty soon. On the new lads, Dara Moynihan stood out. Probably topped possession stats in the first half. Diarmuid O Connor can be pleased enough too and will improve. Shane Ryan's kick outs were good. Gavin O Brien gave a good option for kick outs and adds a nice bit of physique in the middle. Graham Sullivan came on too late to get a chance to show a glimpse of what he can do.

Great win indeed. A very valuable two points and sets up an interesting game in Cavan next weekend. Last visit to Kingspan Breffni was 26 March 2017 in a game that ended level, Cavan 1-10 Kerry 0-13.
Four points from the opening pair of games will ease a lot of minds. Fair play to all involved in having the team fired up.

Shane Ryan's kickouts were excellent today. It's something we have lacked the past few years, his confidence in playing a ball was clear to see today. The trajectory of his kickouts meant our lads were favourtites to win most of our own kickouts.

Quite disappointed with rte for not showing more on the match, it was very short and analysis not extensive. I like Joanne taking on Brolly though

From my view in front of the commentary box on the terrace it was a blanket defence at times. There were many occasions when Tyrone were in possession when we had all 15 players in our own half.

I’d agree and I don’t necessarily think there is anything wrong with that virtually every team does it. Brolly just wants a soapbox for his exclusion zone idea, he kept trying to steer the conversation to the rules. Joanne possibly trying to lay down a marker by shutting him down? That highlights show is poor they spend the majority of the time on games that have already been aired live and don’t cover the lower divisions at all? There are some cracking matchups in Division 2 in particular that I was looking forward to. Even the Kerry Tyrone match, which was one of the big matchups of the weekend wasn’t really analysed.

Brolly woffling this evening on the box while trying to set an agenda. I wouldn't follow Kerry if managed by Harte. Tyrone won't beat Dublin playing under his approach to the game.

great Start for Peter Keane and his squad. I just watched the Monaghan Dublin match there on Gaa Go. They have learned, More so than Mayo or ourselves, how to handle the Dubs. Tyrone had played and won a competition already this year. Kerry hadn't and missing JOD, Moran and Clifford, this was a great win. This could be a great year yet.

At the end of the day I wouldn’t back Tyrone for the All Ireland regardless of who is over them, they are better than what we saw today but overall they are no great shakes, particularly up front. On the flip side we may not be as good as we appeared today. I thought we looked well organised defensively and we have many players to come back so there is a lot to build on but I’d be cautious about getting too excited about a good January performance. Looking forward to the coming weeks.

A fantastic beginning to the league no matter which way you look at it in front of a huge crowd. A defeat would have meant being on the backfoot from the get go and the murmurings from the public about this and that.
Plenty of positives and plenty to improve on at the same time. Points are the most important thing at this stage of the league. A new debutant (or 2) for each game now to give plenty of lads chances is key as well.
Going up to Breffni Park will be a bit easier now for all involved and they can do so with confidence.

By Tony Leen Sports Editor Follow tonyleenKERRY 0-11 TYRONE 0-7 Frank Rich of the New York Times had within his gift the capacity to sink a Broadway play with a damaging opening night review, but at his most acerbic, he’d be hard put to pour cold water on this new Kerry production. Was it a flawless start to a new era? Of course not. The conditions and the suffocating set-ups on both sides ensured this league opener was sprinkled with miscues. Kerry’s line-up looked callow by comparison, so to match Tyrone for physicality and maintain levels of intensity right to the death – they claimed the final two decisive points – was almost as pleasing for the new manager Peter Keane as the match points. Almost. Starting off the campaign with a victory casts next Sunday’s visit to Cavan in a completely different, and less taxing, light. And to do so with late changes Diarmuid O’Connor and Dara Moynihan – though it would appear the former was preordained – excelling throughout made it a fine day’s work all round for the Kingdom. For Tyrone, not so much. Notwithstanding Kerry’s incessant toil, Mickey Harte’s attack was once again missing a sharp edge. Freshman Kerry keeper Shane Ryan never had a shot to save and it took the visitors to Killarney 50 minutes to score from play. They only mustered a Niall Morgan free in the first half, and it was only when Peter Harte advanced himself into an attacking role after the break that they looked threatening. Wing-back Tiernan McCann bristled with attacking intent throughout, but he never got beyond Kerry’s half-back line, in which Tom O’Sullivan, Brian O’Beaglaoich and Paul Murphy were resolute and intelligent. Inevitably Kerry wilted physically in the latter stages and conceded a couple of soft frees but there was enough about them to keep the All-Ireland finalists of 2018, with all their nous, at arm’s length throughout – and that’s saying something. It might have been more comfortable had Stephen O’Brien finished with greater certainty from the game’s only clearcut goal chance after 18 minutes. Or had Tom O’Sullivan converted either of two presentable chances of points after the break. However, the best two forwards on the pitch were both in green and gold, and that was decisive. Sean O’Shea contributed six points, but none more outrageous than his late conversion of a sideline kick which the home crowd of 12,921 roared over the bar. Dara Moynihan has already proven his voracious appetite for work en route to All-Ireland successes with St Brendan’s at colleges level and the Kerry minors, but few would have thought him physically attuned to the demands of senior fare so soon. That he played every minute yesterday was a remarkable stat in itself. Ditto Na Gaeil’s rookie midfielder Diarmuid O’Connor, who played the sleeves-up wing forward role in a revised Kerry attack. Big things are expected of this talent from Tralee, but hardly so soon. Peter Keane wanted off-the-charts work-rate and he got every bit of that in his bow as a senior inter-county manager. The middle eight anchored Kerry from the first minute, and the 0-3 to 0-1 lead after half an hour was a modest reflection of their superiority at both ends of the pitch, a point conceded by Tyrone boss Mickey Harte afterwards. “The significant factor was how Kerry played in the first half, and how they really were very difficult to break down,” he said. “They were well structured and pretty intense in the tackle. And that made it very difficult for us to get scores.” Two points from Moynihan – the game’s first from play – in the 33rd and 35th minutes gave Kerry a four-point cushion at the break, but 15 minutes later, the gap was halved to two by Peter Harte. Thereafter it was a test of wills and discipline – not just personal but tactical. Kerry’s solid shape was exemplified by the positioning of Paul Murphy and the unselfishness of, for instance, Adrian Spillane, at midfield. Seldom has a midfielder grafted so hard for so little material reward in terms of time on the ball. Kerry’s replacements saw an inter-county debut for Gavin O’Brien, but it was the experienced Mikey Geaney who made the immediate impact, his point on 63 minutes edging his side three clear again, 0-9 to 0-6. Playing keep ball against the kings of turnover is a dangerous game, but Kerry’s handling and focus was true in the final ten minutes – helped undoubtedly by the deafening approval raining down from the O’Sullivan Stand. Seldom has two home points in January been greeted with such fervour. Scorers for Kerry: S. O’Shea (0-6, 3 frees, one mark, one sideline), D Moynihan (0-2), T. O’Sullivan, J Barry, M Geaney (0-1 each). Scorers for Tyrone: D McCurry (0-4, frees), M Donnelly, P Harte, N Morgan (free) (0-1 each) KERRY: S Ryan; P.
