Had a referee for a couple of games this year who wasn’t too bad either not sure of his name. He was a heavy guy took a Nigel owens style of reffing very talkative to the players. I think he could be from Na Gaeil but not sure on that

Please refrain from referee bashing on this thread. It's difficult enough to get referees without this becoming a forum to abuse them. No problem having a discussion but go outside of that and we will have to lock like we did with West Kerry Championship thread.

15 different referees used across the 29 Co Senior Championship games this year - 6 of those 15 whistled 3 games each with 2 getting two games and the remaining 7 getting a single game. 4 of the six most used got to see one team more than once with 1 ref getting to ref the same two opposing teams on two occassions. What is the process for referee appointments? How are referees assessed and trained?

What is the process for referee appointments? How are referees assessed and trained? Are you saying the best refs weren't used? Iv been on both sides and definitely the best refs in kerry were used for the most part.We have a core group of excellent top end refs. I've named them on another thread. OK there is a gap like we saw on a district final recently to the levek underneath but the refs at top end take it extremely serious. Look at rugby how many times has nigel owens reffed ireland. Just because a ref has a reffed a team already can't preclude him from reffin again only say maybe for semi final final. My comments were a statistical look at the referees used in the senior County Championship - no names, no comments on games and no inferences whatsoever on any of the individuals concerned. I then asked two questions so I can better understand how ref's are appointed and managed. Not sure how you are interpreting this as a criticism on any level.
