Hearing Marc O Se is a contender Has marc done anything of note at colleges level? No success yet. Two Corn Ui Mhuiri final losses as Manager of Tralee CBS the past 2 years - 2017 to The Sem and 2018 to PCD. Was probably involved in the backroom team with John O'Keeffe in 07 and 08

James Costelloe of St. Pats. Can’t say I know anything about him but wish him the best of luck. He has tough acts to follow.

James Costelloe must be from Mars or we would have had an intro here? Does anyone have his CV, come on, tell us more!

Been with the development squads for past few years; has managed St Pats & St Brendan’s and I think he was in charge of St Brendan’s when they won the U-21 county a couple of years ago.

Its an important appointment from Donal Daly's point of view too.
He has succeeded in the main objective of getting the right players from development squads and now the coaches from the development squads are beginning to come through.

Well I'll try to fill a few gaps but orhers here may know more. Played for the Kerry junior's, he was an intelligent footballer for Pats and a real leader A great "club footballer". One of the best they produced in recent times, he has also served the club well behind the scenes at board level. People should not underestimate the achievement of winning an U21 championship with the Brendans. That was their first real win of substance in decades. Won a junior championship with the club in 1995ish also. Not a well known name or a 'celebrity' manager but he has served his time with the development squads and hopefully our minor success will continue.

My prediction would be: 1.Devon Burns (Na Gaeil) 2.Kieran O'Sullivan (Cromane) 3.Alan Dineen (Rathmore) 4.Oisin Maunsell (Na Gaeil) 5.Adam Curran (Austin Stacks) 6.Jack Sheehan (Na Gaeil) 7.Sean O'Brien (Beaufort) 8.Joe Linehan (Churchill) 9.Cathal O'Beaglaoich (An Ghaeltacht) 10.Colin Crowley (Templenoe) 11.Eoghan O'Sullivan (Killarney Legion) 12.Jack O'Connor (Beaufort) 13.Gearoid Hassett (Laune Rangers) 14.Emmet O'Shea (Fossa) 15.Dylan Geaney (Dingle) A pretty strong team I'd say. The best subs would be Damien Doherty (Churchill) Ryan O'Grady (Legion) Armin Heinrich (Austin Stacks) and Cian O'Connor (Kenmare).

Amazing to see such a spread of talent and that everyone has different panels proves that the future is bright, very.
As a NK man though I'd be disappointed with our under representation - is it that the above commentators are not from NK and where ye will of course consequently be less familiar with NK youth (i.e. I am certainly not questioning anyone's integrity), or is it the case that NK just doesn't have the upcoming talent and which appears to be a long term trend?
I believe NK is about 1/6th of the county in terms of area and if we exclude Tralee would it be 1/6th of the population? Still 2 Churchill isn't far off 1/6th of the 15 so maybe on reflection we are not so badly represented, although we have hardly any subs.
I suppose it is the old chestnut - the variance in the concentration of Gaelic football in the various parts of the county. Certainly an interesting thesis subject, maybe for those more expert at our ITT Sports Academy?
Living in Letterkenny I have seen a big resurgence since the Jim McGuinness era. What many may not realise is the strong soccer culture in Donegal, even in places like Gweedore and which has endemic cultural links with Celtic. I have oft engaged with people on the subject of how the GAA fares and such is the depth of expertise of all facets of sports in Donegal, I can seldom identify any underlying trends that might lead to identifying cause and effect situations. That players can interchange doesn't help any analysis either.
Yerra maybe it might be good that we don't know too much because then we might do something about it and someone would be shot if there was any improvements!

Aidan Behan (St.Senans) and Michael Fogarty (Moyvane) are good footballers but I dunno if there are good enough. Time will tell.

With young fellas all over the county trying their best to perform to the best of their ability whether it be with their schools or clubs to impress this years management here is a question for the forum to ponder over
David Clifford aside what has been the best performance you have seen by a underage player in Kerry while playing with club or school in recent times?

I watched the trial game between next years minors which was played before the county final. There was some excellent football played. I thought Joe Linehan from Churchill was outstanding. Looks the real deal. I thought Emmett Shea was the top forward on show. Devon Burns looks to be a class Goal keeper. The one thing which stood out to me was no defender really put his hand up and stood out. I think defensively there might be a bit of work to do, but I believe James Costello and co have the skills and the raw talent to get it right. I wish them the best of luck going forward.

I think they’ll get it right and win it out again . As usual they have a good amount of talented forwards but there are backs out there that will step . I think he will find 10 or 11 backs to make the panel. Alan Dineen will be the full back . Ciarán O’Sullivan will be there. Ruairi Doyle also. Neil O’Shea and Terry Sparling good backs. Cian O’Leary Enda O’Connor Thomas O’Donnell . They’ll be ok.

Yea that’s him. I wouldn’t worry about the forwards. We have plenty. Burns is favorite for the keeper spot. Lenihan can also play forwards.

I was at the Kerry minor challenge game vs Sliabh Luachra this evening in mitchels and I was a bit disappointed to be honest I know the conditions were shocking for football but the standard seemed to be quite poor. Sliabh Luachra had a few minors from last year playing, the likes of Dan Murphy and Darragh Rahilly but due to the poor conditions nobody seemed to stand out.
The Kerry minor backs struggled to contain the oppositions forwards which was a bit worrying given that they were nowhere near a county teams standard.. This years panel seems to be smaller than last years and there doesn’t seem to be a stand out player such as Clifford or o Shea YET!!!!
Players that you could pick out who could stand up this year was Joe Lenihan at midfield who done well even though he was without his expected midfield partner tonight Colin Crowley who I assume was injured as he was doing his own work on the sideline. Adam Curran from Austin stacks also performed well at wing back. The forwards this year seem a bit light and the ball didn’t really stick inside but conditions were very poor so it was understandable. Dylan geaney will be the main man this year by tonight’s viewing as nearly every attack they looked to get him on the ball. Young Gearoid Hassett looks to be a good player but he needs to be given more ball, he performed really well at corner forward and made hay with whatever scraps he got
The Kerry defenders did struggle with Darragh rahilly running at them although it didn’t happen often enough for the rathmore side to pose any serious threat. Running at our defense seems to cause us problems but that is understandable with the lads being so young
Devon Burns started in goal and I must say he is one of the most vocal goalkeepers out there which is great to see, he must be encouraged by the sideline to be the general at the back. He is another one who could stand up and be leader for the team this year. He conceded two goals tonight and struggled a bit with the kickout(especially short) but he also pulled off two fantastic saves so if he works a bit on the kickout I can’t see why he will not be a nailed on starter. He also likes to receive the ball from his defenders to take the pressure off them. Personally I wouldn’t be a fan of it but he must be told to do that from the management and he done fairly well on the ball tonight but on a Munster final day in June I wouldn’t be retreating back towards our own goal as much as they did tonight.
By tonight’s viewing and taking the weather into consideration I would still remain hopeful for our year ahead. This year I think hope will be the main feeling around the team rather than expectancy.
Nevertheless they will still give it a serious crack and they will have our full support throughout their journey this year and hopefully we will be celebrating a sixth title in a row 💚💛💚💛

Wont Jack oConnor be there too in the forwards. He seemed to be a great prospect going by last years contributions.

I remember watching last years minors in action in the early rounds of Munster and thinking that they had no chance - A lot of disruption due to colleges campaigns and the main thing for the minor squad is to get to the Munster final - this allows time to gel and develop a team over the summer months. Forget talk about a sixth etc, each year is a new team, a new bunch of players (in the main) and new hope.

The progress made by a minor team over the course of a year is also a measure of how the management improve them both individually & collectively. We've been very lucky to have 2 intercounty senior level coaches over the last 5 years- hopefully Costello's experience with the development squads will shine through here
