If Peter is to be the man it of course leaves a vacancy at minor level. You would not envy the man coming in there trying to emulate the achievements of Jack and Peter. Seamus moynihan

What a complaint to have Vet, Peter also has big shoes to fill - Fit 'n' fill 'em only so few can, some thinking bigger than. Will the 4th Oct 2018 go down in history as they day the seeds that are the Minor 5 in a row were sown, and became a 5 in a row that stopped a 5 in a row? Auld Yeats can head to his Lake Isle of Inishfree with his nine bean-rows and Kavanagh can travel the road to Inniskeen - an squig out of the auld cannister will do Ballythefireside just fine thank you!

I don’t think this is black and white. The committee would definitely have had an influence on the selection of the entire mgt team. They are not going to just pick a manager and let him off to his own devices despite what is being reported. I'd imagine the backroom team will need to be approved by the County Board but that's normal. Liam Sheedy's backroom team has to be approved in Tipp. The suggestion seemed to be that the County Board were going to impose backroom team members on the manager. Thankfully this doesn't appear to be the case. In fairness i wouldve been surprised if that had been the case i think our cb is a fair reflection of the gaa community in Kerry not a dicatorship or cabal like a few around the country we arent for example like our neighbours across the hills...... ratififing a management team as a ticket is sensible

Peter Keane has been ratified as the new Kerry Senior Football Manager. His Management Team is made up of selectors Tommy Griffin, Maurice Fitzgerald, James Foley and Donie Buckley Coach/Selector.
The names were unanimously ratified at tonight's County Committee Meeting in Austin Stack Park, Tralee
We wish them every success!

Here, here! Congratulations to Peter Keane and his management team and the best of luck! Well done to the Kerry CB selection committee for getting what many Kerry supporters believe (this one included) to be the right man with his management team on board. This is a real breath of fresh air for Kerry football. Everybody starts at square one inside the Kerry dressing room and a brand new era is ushered in. It's going to be a tough road but there are huge possibilities and the future is bright.

Best of luck to the new management team. Not expecting any great silverware this year or next to be honest. Just good steady progress

I think the county board did a good job here.
Congrats and best wishes to them all.
All the successful minor teams should ensure an steady upward curve in Kerrys fortunes but Dublin are such an awsome prospect now that expectations must be realistic.

Great news and while I wouldn't be one to be overly optimistic, I believe we can topple the Dubs this year and on the day anything can happen and anything has happened more often than one cares to remember. The Dubs are exceptional but so are we, and if we don't do it this year then we will do it next. No team wins without good management and we must have the best there is with that combination. Just imagine the prospect of playing against us - I'd say at home watching the antiques roadshow!
Can someone tell us a bit about Foley. Are there any experts on Donie's CV - as there isn't a whole pile going on maybe someone might tell us a bit about him - e.g. did he visit the Chicago Bears, etc? Did he kick ball himself? What about his role with JackO'C, Mayo, etc? He is amazing so there must be a lot to explore.

Don't know much about James Foley but Donie has worked with numerous clubs and has been involved with Limerick, Kerry and Mayo at inter county level. Has also done coaching workshops around the county and has been known to visit sports teams in the USA and Australia to tap into their expertise.
Will be interesting to see where the senior team goes with regards strength and conditioning as Joe O'Connor is supposed to be overseeing this while still involved with Limerick senior hurling team. Anyone know what the setup would be?

James Foley is from Killorglin, living in Kilcummin - was a selector for a few years with Kilcummin and then moved to development squads where he encountered PK - has been with PK all through the minors. Donie was a fine footballer- good target man, played most of his club football @‘full forward - famously scored the last minute goal for Desmond’s when they beat St Vincent’s in All Ireland club final in 1985, 2-02 to 0-07!

The best possible management team has been appointed. The CB deserve a lot of credit for the way they handled things. Remember where you saw it first kerrygaa.proboards.com/post/211433
