Double Header in Austin Stacks Park on Thursday 10th September Lee Strand U-16 County Championship Finals Plate Final Castleisland District v Feale Rangers at 6.45 Cup Final Mid Kerry Gaa v East Kerry Gaa at 8.00. 4 very good teams taking part in the finals in what should be two very close games. Pity the GAA didn’t put these games at decent times or dates so that people might go watch them. 8 o’clock for an u-16 game on a school night is not a fair way to treat these players taking part. Typical Gaa probably only looking after themselves. There was no reason they couldn’t play these games on Saturday or Sunday. Results: Feale Rangers 2-10 Castleisland District 1-10 Mid Kerry 2-18 East Kerry 2-15

Late Goal Seals Title For Feale Rangers
Lee Strand U16 Plate Final: Feale Rangers 2-10 Castleisland District 1-10
Feale Rangers and Castleisland District played out a fascinating finale to the Plate Championship. The tone was set right from the off, with a lightning fast Rangers' move seeing Niall Lynch goal within tywenty seconds. Darragh Broderick replied with a fine point, by the excellent Ted Moloney boomed over to make it 1-1 to 0-1. PJ Curtin, another to shine on the day, cut the gap back to the minimum with two good scores before Michael Fogarty pointed a free for Feale Rangers. Daniel Kelly swung over a brilliant reply for Castleisland. At the other end Niall Lynch was just wide of goal after a great pass by Mikey Kelliher, while keeper Padraig Hilliard brilliantly deflected a Ted Moloney rocket over the bar – a stunning save. Donnacha Maher stretched the lead, but it was wiped out in a flash as Tadgh O'Shea set up Daniel Kelly for a goal to make it 1-4 apiece. Unfortunately, a bit of comtretemps saw Feale Rangers reduced to fourteen, good refereeing from Paul Hayes and his match officials. Mikey Kelliher and Darragh Broderick exchanged pointed before Mark Hickey nudged Castleisland in front for the first time from an acute angle. Tomas Dillon replied but John Bell restored his side's slim lead before the break.
Half-time Castleisland District 1-7 Feale Rangers 1-6
Feale Rangers emerged after the break like a streak of lightning. Tomas Dillon tied the game and a Michael Fogarty free put them in front. Ted Moloney fired over to make it 1- 9 to 1-7. Castleisland District gradually started to soak up those attacks and drive forwards. Dylan Dunne Moriarty sparked thew revival with a fine point, Darragh Kelly quickly adding another. Mark Hickey had a goal attempt well saved by Eoin Relihan, but Daniel Kelly coolly pointed to give them a one point lead with time beginning to run out. Feale Rangers held their composure, however, with a nerveless Mikey Kelliher sending over an equaliser. 1-10 to 1-10, game poised on a knife edge, a draw looking very likely....until Michael Fogarty sent a great ball into Sean McGrath, and he struck faster than a cobra to drive it into the net.
Hard luck on a very brave Castleisland, but Feale Rangers were worthy winners in the finish, with Coiste na nOg Chairman Tom Keane presenting the Plate to winning captain Michael Foley. Well done and mile buiochas to the players, mentors, sponsors, the huge amount of supporters, and the match officials for serving up a thriller.

Mid Kerry Win A Cup Classic
Lee Strand U16 Cup Final: Mid Kerry 2-18 East Kerry 2-15
Mid Kerry and East Kerry looked likeliest to contest this final from a long way out – both sides have been awesome throughout the entire championship. This was always going to be a clash of titans – Mid Kerry gave an unbelievable team display laced with some astonishing individual displays, and East Kerry were still able to close the gap to just a single score in a thrilling climax.
Matthew Leslie was quick of the mark for Mid Kerry, and the centyre forwrad confidently fired over three more before Emmett O'Shea won and converted a free for East Kerry. O'Shea was in outstanding form, as was Leslie, but an incredible midfield display by Sean O'Brien and great all-round teamwork meant that it was the Mid Kerry marksman who had the better supply.
Padraig Looney finished off a good team move for East Kerry, but Gearoid Hassett, always a threat, opened his own account to make it 0-4 to 0-2. Ryan O'Grady and Matthew Leslie swapped scores before Mid Kerry put on a big scoring spurt, Matthew Leslie clocking up four unanswered points – one of which was a long ball in that took a wicked bounce. Gearoid Hassett with a spectacular score made it 0-10 to 0-3. With East Kerry reeling on the ropes, Jason Kerins steadied the ship with a point before man of the match Sean O'Brien and Ryan O'Grady (f) swapped scores to close out the half.
Half-time Mid Kerry 0-11 East Kerry 0-5
Mid Kerry kept up their dominance on the restart, Anthony Kelliher and Gearoid Hassett (f) adding to their tally. Emmett O'Shea cut loose with three points on the trot, one of them after an amazing knifing run through the defence. All that was undone, though, when Gearoid Hassett neatly picked out Rian Donovan at the far post for a goal. Matthew Leslie added a free and then read the play well enough to be on hand to finish a sweeping attack to the net. 2-14 to 0-8, game over, surely? Not on your life!
Back came an invigorated East Kerry. Dylan O'Callaghan fired over two points, as well as winning one of Emmett O'Shea's two pointed frees, with Eoghan O'Sullivan also on target. Matthew Leslie picked off a point, but back came the irrepressible O'Shea with a goal of stunning quality. Liam Randles cut the gap back to four points, and a seemingly foregone conclusion was now hanging in the balance. Matthew Leslie with a free took his personal tally to an astonishing 1-12 and Jack O'Connor added another, with Gearoid Hassett moving them seven points clear again. East Kerry still weren't done, Emmett O'Shea with a point and then curling a beautiful pass to Ryan O'Grady for a cracking goal. Just one score in it, and a dangerous high ball was floated into the Mid Kerry square....where Sean O'Brien rose highest to pluck it out of the sky and seal a brilliant win before excellent referee James Brosnan sounded the final whistle.

Devon Byrnes, Neil o Shea - Crokes, Alan Dineen - Rathmore, , Terry Sparling - Crokes Sean o Brien - Beaufort - Ciaran o Sullivan - Cromane , Jack Sheehan - Na Gail! O Beaghleach,- Dingle Joe Lenihan - Churchill Colin Crowley - Templenoe - Jack o Connor - Beaufort , Gearoid Hassett - L Rangers , Cian o Connor - Kenmare , Emmett o Shea - Fossa , Dylan Geaney - Dingle Subs: Cian Knightly - Glenbeigh Ruairi Doyle - Fossa Eoin O’sullivan - Legion Tommy Cronin - Kenmare Matthew Leslie - L Rangers Dylan O’Callahan - Firies Ryan Grady - Legion Aodhan Bevan - Finuge Tadgh O’Shea - Desmond’s
After watching quite a few games in this year’s U-16 County Championship and also quite a few league games and league finals - this would be my pick for next years Kerry minors - a few outstanding players there and probably a few more around the county - again - like the seniors - a shortage of quality defenders - a lot of attacking defenders - but a severe shortage of markers..,

You won't be far off i think.
Enda O'Connor from Na Gaeil I think is a good back. Brendan Kelly (Renard) Cian O'Leary (Legion) They would 3 more backs close enough.
Dylan O'Callaghan (Firies) Forward. Adam Curran (Austin Stacks) Midfield Cian Foley (Kilcummin) Forward would be more.
Cian Ring (Firies) in the mix for Goalkeeper.
