The U16 County Leagues have started. I watched Crokes 2 games in Division 1 this year and they are playing well. They beat Legion and Stacks. They top the Division. Rathmore Na Gaeil and Laune Rangers make up the rest of it.
In Division 2 Catlegregory An Ghaeltacht and Kenmare had wins. Glenbeigh/Cromane Keel/Listry and Firies make up the rest.
In Div 3A Ballymac have 2 wins. Currow and Fossa are 2nd and 3rd. Brosna/Duagh Churchill and Kilcummin are also there.
In Div 3B Kilgarvan/Tuosist are top Ballyduff Ardfert John Mitchels O'Rahilly's and Gneeveguilla are also there.
In Div 5 St.Marys/Renard are top Templenoe/Sneem/Derrynane Listowel Beaufort and Desmonds.
In Div 6 Glenflesk are top with St.Senans, Dromid/Waterville Asdee/Ballylongford and Milltown/Castlemaine are there.
In Div 7A Skellig/Valentia are top. Spa Moyvane/Tarbert Annascaul/Lispole and Finuge.
In Div 7B Michaels/Foilmore Cordal/Scartaglin Beale St.Pats Blennerville and Stacks B are there.
It will interesting fellas looking to make a name for themselves with the Kerry U16 panel this year and Minors next year.

Superb article in Kerry’s eye about the development squads in Kerry - some serious management teams coaching these future stars of Kerry football - guys who have worn the green and gold and also played at a very high level with their clubs - great to see these guys giving back to the game.
Superb article - take a bow Kerry’s Eye 👍🏼

Those results would indicate our dominance at minor level may be coming to an end.
I had heard next years u17s are good but the team after that not so good.

I don't think anyone will be expecting Kerry to win 7 minors in a row.............!

It’s hard to know . We have dominated Cork for the last 4 or 5 years at Minot level. We have a good minor team next year but after that yeah we might struggle. Cork dominated us today at underage level.

If the Cork seniors continue to perform for the next few years like they've done recently, any of those Cork youngsters on those teams with half a knack for hurling, soccer or rugby will be jumping ship in their droves.

jo90 you do have point a lot of players in Cork leave whether the footballers are doing well or not. Of course if they are winning All Irelands some stay but it happened in the 90s also when they were winning you still had players go to Hurling.
Because of their size and population like Dublin there is always a chance they will produce good underage teams what happens after that then depends on the player and what sport he wants to play.
The underage coaching for us has been really good the last four or five years. Some have played for Kerry some have not. Vince Cooper from Crokes is a prime example. Didn't play for Kerry but is a fantastic coach. Then you have Sean Sullivan and Tommy Griffin on the other side. We have some good players on our U15 and U14 teams who will get a lot better in time. Cork were bigger and stronger this year and at that age that is a factor.

Are the panels from each age group who competed in the tournaments the final panels? I remember they released all the names last year. Will they do likewise this year?

Success at minor level was based on years of expert coaching at underage level by ex-county players, Sean O Sullivan a prime example. Kerry seemed to have abandoned that successful template with the current crop. Might be hard to attract ex players to develop underage teams if they are not going to be considered as managerial options when their prodigies develop to minor or u 20 grades. It's the best coaches that are required regardless of whether they played for Kerry or not. We're all well aware of ex players who were useless coaches and excellent coaches who never played for Kerry. It may be an advantage but is absolutely not necessary.

I agree Jack Savage very good. Hassett probably best player at that age group in the County. Cian McMahon from Crokes is a good player. Cian Foley (Kilcummin) Darragh O'Grady (Laune Rangers) good player. William Casey (Rathmore) good keeper.

It'll be like the good old days of Vinnie Murphy 1 and Vinnie Murphy 2 in Strand Road again in a couple of years.

I guess these things are a bit cyclical - you can see Na Gaeil flying now I guess a lot of it is to do with when different housing estates were built in different parts of town and the local age demographics that go along with that. Whos his Father is he related to Jack? I don't actually know the lad at all.

The Green won the Russell Cup this year. Jack Savage Jordan Kissane Armin Heinrich Maurice O'Connell Thomas O'Donnell Jack and David Moriarty were all on that team.
Likewise with the Sem. Killian O'Sullivan Erin Moloney Liam Randles Jamie Alade Harry Byrne Cian Foley and Cian McMahon were on their team.
Two good teams.

One thing that is being overlooked is that various teams have various levels of training done - for example at U14, Kerry South and North have been training for 3 weeks now - some of the Cork teams ad Tipp have been training together for a lot longer than that.
The reason is that once the Munster U14 championship is finished some of the Cork players and Tipp lads move to hurling for the rest of the year. So they get a lot of their base training done earlier and are together a lot longer. The Kerry lads will stay together throughout the summer and then embark on a S&C program.
So this needs to be remembered when looking at some of the results above. Either way I don't think anybody is disputing that Cork under age football is strong - Kerry have squeezed past most of their teams the last couple of years. Tomas O Se made that point well on the Sunday Game last week.

No doubt Cork would have won a couple of minor titles if they could have beaten Kerry in the last 4 years. Cork have always been strong at Underage level. Kerry have always found them a tough nut to crack. Most of those Cork senior players were very good underage players so there is some serious issues going on in Cork right now. I think they definitely have the talent for various reasons theyre not producing.
