What is the nightmare scenario for Kerry?
1) Lose the Munster Final and we are in with Dublin and the Ulster champions, with the game against the Ulster champions in Clones/Omagh/Ballybofey/Kingspan Breffni.
2) Win the Munster Final and be grouped with Galway/Mayo winner and the Ulster runner-up (Donegal/Cavan), and maybe Tyrone/Monaghan loser, who get there by beating Kildare...leaving a group of Kerry, Mayo/Galway, Donegal and Tyrone/Monaghan...meaning an away game in Omagh or Clones and possibly Donegal in Killarney the August Bank holiday weekend.
Best scenario: Kerry, Roscommon, Cork and Kildare maybe?
The fixture list is properly thought out by giving the provincial champions a reward in having their home game the last game.

It’s also geared to ensure dead rubbers are reasonably well attended! If Kerry were 2/2 and 3rd game in Croke Park, it is fair to assume not many would be in attendance - a dead rubber in Killarney on Aug bank holiday would draw considerably more. Assume Dublin will have 2 games in Croke Park though?

So....the draw where the four "Group 4 winners" are pitted against the four "losing provincial finalists" will the dynamic that the decides whether one of the super 8 groups is a group of death so to speak.
You would imagine the loser of todays game between Galway and Mayo would be capable of taking out the losing team from the Leinster and Connacht finals at any rate.

Hopefully the Super Eights will be a real success developing further in to a group of four playing each other to give two in the final in both an A & B championship.

The fixture list for the Super 8's must be questioned on a number of grounds.
1/ Round 1 fixtures see the provincial champions face off against each other - surely this should be the round 3 fixtures. 2/ The provincial champions games (R1) are fixed for neutral venues with the classic problem of Croke Park being classed as a neutral venue - if (as we all expect) Dublin are Leinster champions this fixture must be played in either Semple Stadium or Pairc Ui Chaoimh. The charade of Croke Park being classed as a neutral venue for what should be Dublin's most difficult fixture should not be allowed to continue.

Id be shocked if either of those teams make the quarters!maybe fermanagh More likely one or two of mayo, tyrone, monaghan. I wouldnt be surprised if none of the beaten finalists make it to 1/4s. Some poor teams there

That depends on Monaghan, Tyrone, mayo, Kildare avoiding each other in the third round qualifier draw. There could be one stinker of a super 8 group!

What happens if you have 3 teams with 2 wins each in the super 8s which could easily happen if Eg Kerry, Galway and Tyrone/Mayo/Monaghan end up in the same group. Is it the same as the league where it comes down to scoring difference if u can’t use head to head.

Am I correct in thinking that if Mayo meet and beat Laois in round 4 of the qualifiers.....and we beat Cork.....We are all off to Castlebar to play Mayo in the super 8s

Leinster Runner Up or team that beats them in R4 v Kerry on July 21/22 Kerry v Ulster Runner Up or team that beats them in R4 on Aug 4/5

Really exciting fixtures in prospect here. What a group if we got
Galway (CP) Mayo (away) and Tyrone (Killarney).
This is what the football championship should be all about. Fantastic. And I reckon we'd beat them all too.

Galway , mayo and Tyrone?? That would be tough going but certainly wud make us battle hardened for the dubs if we got out of it. Still early days though to know who will come through qualifiers. Galway are the only team we know for certain if we win Saturday night in cork

Mayo are in decline. Galway are only mediocre - the standard in yesterdays game was very poor. There is no team in that side of the draw we should fear.

All the focus on avoiding New Zealand in the QF. To be the best you wanna beat the best. This might be as naive as day but this is how I have always seen things.
