Huge result for Carlow over louth 2-17 to 12 points. Yeah- I thought Brendan Murphy goin would mean they'd do nothing this summer. On the Galway & Mayo match - how is your man Kyne from Galway playing intercounty football? Everytime I see him play he is absolutely muck.

Laois should always be beating Wexford & Westmeath! Based on what? Sure Westmeath have been stronger than Laois for a good few years now, have been in 2 Leinster finals and have beaten everyone of note in Leinster bar Dublin. It'd be a surprise if Laois beat them The natural order restored in the Meath v Weatmeath derby games O'Byrne Cup Final RES Westmeath 1-13 Meath 4-13 TEG Cusack Park

A poor spectacle. Sean Kelly had a huge impact for Galway when he came on. Rochford remains title-less with Mayo....................The long road continues for Mayo.

There is a photo doing the rounds of Tom Parsons knee injury and it is horrendous. He was playing really well but it looks like a terrible injury. You wouldnt put a good greyhound running on that surface in Castlebar. I cant see Tom going to work tomorrow as an engineer in Dublin
I find the panel discussion terrible..... a team playing like Galway does will only go so far.....playing the Tyrone style using Paddy Nally tactics....blah blah blah. Well Tyrone won three All Irelands..... maybe its that Galway do not have forwards like Canavan, Mugsy, Stephen ONeill.
I found it engrossing till the end. Mayo as usual make it hard for themselves but the game a week through the back door could get them back up.
They were missing a few from the team that started the final last year.
I hope they make it to the supEr 8 and are in Kerrys group.

Wicklow beat Offaly in extra time. 1 -20 to 1-15. A great win for them, Offaly at rock bottom.

Great result for Wicklow. Can't say I am too upset about Offaly losing either.

That could be a career ender for Parsons- legs arent meant to bend that way. Best wishes to the lad- hopefully he makes a full recovery

No interest in looking at pictures of that leg injury for Tom Parsons. Bad enough the first time. Seen too many in my time and have my fill. Best wishes to Tom Parsons a fine player who will be greatly missed by Mayo. Perhaps more than they realise at present.
Was Stephen Wallace on the sidelines for Offaly today or is he serving out a ban.

Disappointing fare for the most part . The closeness of the score of,course meant that interest was maintained to the end. I read in one paper that the Leinster/Racing match was pulsating .In truth, the quality was as dire as what we saw in Castlebar today but it would apppear that rugby reporters never see a poor game of rugby.
Not for the first time , Mayo did not get a sufficient return from Aiden O'Shea, little or no return today indeed. I am coming to the conclusion that strip away his phenomenal strength you are left with a limited footballer.
I know that Galway won but I could not understand why they did not bring Damien Comed to the forty in the second half. He is a great man to go on a powerful, incisive run and would surely have garnered a few precious frees at least whereas he scarcely got on the ball inside.
The O'Connor boys are fine Mayo footballers but appear to be temperamentally flawed.
While Tom Parsons will be a significant loss Mayo could stilll have an impact before the year is out, especially with a fully fit Cillian O'Connor and the return of Lee Keegan. Still this result will be another sickener for their supporters but the supporters who will be most sick tonight are the Dublin hurling supporters. The more that game progressed the more convinced I was that Dublin were going to win. I still cannot fathom how they lost , apart of course form the huge contributions of subs Paul Murphy and Conor Fennelly. It is a shame that Dublin did not hold out because it is difficult to see them coming back from Wexford with a win. The element of surprise is gone and Conal Kearney very likely will be missing . The hurling surely looks very open this year.

In hindsight cutting my lawn would have been a better way of spending my evening rather than watch this game. The first big televised game this year. A poor advertisement for gaelic football, to put it mildly.
Mayo lost this in the first 20 minutes alone when they kicked wide after wide from scorable positions. Expecting Andy Moran to perform as he did last year is a stretch. Same old Mayo. Bringing on Cian Hanley with a few minutes left and the game in the melting pot was expecting a lot given that he didn't get a minute of game time in the league.
Considering he spent the Spring with the hurlers, Keith Higgins was outstanding again for Mayo. Best I've seen for them. Intelligent runs forward and good distribution.
They really missed Leeroy today. He would have asked more questions of that Galway defence and is always good for at least a score or two.
Mayo peak for the summer but this year is beyond them I feel. Still, get Keegan back and some momentum and who knows?
Best wishes to Tom Parsons, awful to see, he is dynamic midfielder and Mayo will miss him for sure. That surface in Castlebar played a part in his injury no doubt.

Quote of the weekend must go to Wicklow selector and former player Leighton Glynn.
Wicklow finished in 32nd position in the league. Following their surprise win over Offaly he said about their next game against Dublin:
"We're going into a task like no other, facing probably one of the best teams in history, but we'll go out and we'll give it a lash and we'll gain experience from it and then go at the qualifiers if we're beaten,".
