With the league out of the way, what do people think will be our championship panel come summer time? I know guys can come in and out as the year progresses but what’s the general feeling for championship time

For me this League has been OK.
If you take into account where we were after the replayed semi final last year, then we have unearthed and blooded a few nice footballers.
We now have several options in defence as well as a few forwards who will no doubt push for a place on the panel.
It is up to Fitzy and co now to show their worth by moulding a panel and team to at least challenge.
If we can get the sideline to hone these guys properly we shouldn't be far away, but ultimately it may be a year too soon, but we will have to see.

My match day 26 for the first game of the championship would be (obviously could change due to injuries, form etc.)
1. Shane Murphy 2. Killian Young 3. Jason Foley 4. Tadhg Morley 5. Gavin Crowley 6. Mark Griffin 7. Paul Murphy 8. Jack Barry 9. David Moran 10. Kevin McCharthy 11. Sean O'Shea 12. Stephen O'Brien 13. David Clifford 14. Paul Geaney 15. James O'Donoghue
16. Brian Kelly 17. Peter Crowley 18. Shane Enright 19. Tom O'Sullivan 20. Michael Burns 21. Daithi Casey 22. Barry John Keane 23. Killian Spillane 24. Ronan Shanahan 25. Johnny Buckley 26. Kieran Donaghy

Potential Starting 15
1. Shane Murphy 2. Shane Enright 3. Jason Foley 4. Ronan Shanahan 5. Brian O'Beaglaoich 6. Peter Crowley 7. Tadhg Morley 8. Jack Barry 9. David Moran 10. Paul Murphy 11. Sean O'Shea 12. Kevin McCarthy 13. David Clifford 14. Paul Geaney 15. Stephen O'Brien
Something like that for Championship if we want to go with a sweeper (as unpopular as it would be). If not Murphy back to the half backs, one of the backs out (Shanahan most likely) and James/Donaghy/BJK/ Burns in.
Subs: Brian Kelly Fionn Fitzgerald Gavin Crowley Tom O'Sullivan Barry O'Sullivan Johnny Buckley Eanna O'Conchuir Daithi Casey Micheal Burns Barry John Keane Killian Spillane
Injury (Fitness) Dependant: James O'Donoghue (In for K.Spillane) Donnacha Walsh (In for Casey) Kieran Donaghy (In for O'Conchuir) Killian Young (In for T O'Sullivan) Anthony Maher (In for Buckley)
No more game time: Cormac Coffey Brendan O'Sullivan Mikey Geaney Greg Horan Andrew Barry Adrian Spillane Matthew Flaherty Jack Savage (tough but he's out of form at the moment) Brian O'Seanacháin
EDIT: I've forgotten about Griffin! Should be on the bench, perhaps in place of one of the forwards - Eanna/Spillane/BJK/Casey most likely out.

And maybe the joint venture between Daingean Uí Chúis agus Baile Uí Dhonnchú that is Brian O'Seanachain might add to the mix. We did it before!

Murphy Begley Foley Enright Morley P.Crowley Murphy Moran Barry SOB O’Shea McCarthy Clifford Geaney O’Donoghue
Kelly BJK Young RShanahan Buckley Burns O’Conchuir Darren Griffin Donaghy Casey
Couldn’t find any room for Tom Sullivan or Gavin Crowley. Buckley and Donaghy would be able to cover midfield. Half forward line is probably a bit too attacking but playing Morley wing back means there probably won’t be too many gaps as he rarely tears forward. We could probably do with another inside forward on the bench but McCarthy and O’Brien could play there if needs be

Interesting promotion by Tomas O Se of Liam Kearns to be a Kerry manager..he didn't put a timescale on it seemed keen to put it as an option

Has all (including Club level) Kerins management work been outside Kerry?

He managed Rathmore and Aidan O Mahony referenced the professionalism he brought with him.Whether it was because he always managed an underdog at intercounty level he always seems to bring an intensity/hardness/slight cynicism to that side on top of a bit of organisation.

He is a product of the O'Dwyer school of football.
His football lineage going back to a time before the viruses of sweepers, blanket defences, hitting the corner flag being "bad decision making" and all the other rubbish tainted the DNA of the game.
He would be such a breath of fresh air for Kerry football.

Are we concerned about the lack of goals we score?
3 in total we scored throughout the league with the last coming in our win over Mayo on the 3rd of February.

We're not even creating goal chances to start with. We did create 2 very good chances in the first half against Dublin (Geaney & O'Shea) and another reasonable chance by McCarthy but obviously didn't take them. Didn't really create any clear cut chances against Kildare alright (BJK had a couple of 1/2 chances which he punched over) and don't know about yesterday.

More about freshening up last years outfit with a few new additions. DC, SOSh, Foley, Begley/Sullivan. I cant see too much alteration from last year.
We'll see how it goes later on..........................The windows need to be opened and the placed aired out.

To be fair if we had fove new starters from last year it would be a serious turnover at the moment you would think there are 3 100% foley,SOS, and clifford. Then murphy, shanahan burns probably 50/50. This time last year we were motoring nicely won the league put in a few big efforts and peaked against cork hopefully that lesson has been learned and we aim to peak in August a final or good showing v dublin in a semi would be progress in my view if most of the aforementioned start and develop

To be honest we have worries all over the field.
-We dont have a settled goalkeeper. -Our 'top' corner back in Shane Enright has been cleaned out at least twice this league. -Our full back has had a lot of tough days. Fine people say management want him to learn and learn fast but, is he the real deal? Its hard to know cause he was hung out to dry with some of the management decisions. -We are too open down the middle. We still cant handle when teams run at us. -We can hardly win our own kick-outs. -Our half forward line are still misfiring as a unit. All good players but just not cohesive. -We have created hardly no goal chances. -Paul Geaney had a very poor league.
On the plus side
David Clifford Sean O'Shea Ronan Shannahan has kicked on I feel. Dathai Casey Seem to be finally implementing a kickout strategy
Getting games for the young lads.

On terrace talk John Kennedy mentioned Mark Griffin as a possible partner for Jack Barry in midfield with David Moran who is struggling for fitness as back up. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea, could Mark Griffin be our version of a Michael Darragh Macauley? Power, pace, energy and hitting everything that moves. Barry and Griffin would give us plenty of legs with speed and power in midfield. Something we could definitely try out in the Munster championship.

Whatever happened to Alan Fitzgerald? Looked the part when he came on the county scene a couple of years ago, then seemed to disappear after his red card v Donegal.
