I played with a county player for the last few years - we only saw him 2-3 times a year and never at training
To be honest he was more a hindrance than a help when he came back in
Clubs with recognized 15 players and no intercounty (example Milltown in the past) are much better served - consistent team week in week out with every fella knowing the role he is to play

This has gone beyond a joke, the extended panel should be released at the very least. I’ve always felt the reasons for this were say if you were doing tactical work, if the lads from 26-30 arnt around for this then rock up to training not having a clue what’s going on it can’t be helpful. Also the most obvious reason is if they want to play a game against each other only having 25-26 players isn’t much good for a realistic game

Apparently they have close to 50 players tied up with the kerry senior training squad at the moment. 50!! Are clubs really ok with none of those players being available to play In the county league when it’s still nearly 8 weeks away from a handy Munster championship openener for the county team when only a maximum of 21 can play anyway. Completely wrong, and those clubs affected need t start speaking up for themselves.

Has the time come for the GAA to say any player who has not played for his club in the 14 days before a county fixture is ineligible to play for the county - some further definition of the term play would be required (minimum number of minutes etc) with an exemption of 2-3 players to cover recovery from injury etc.

It should be clubs releasing players to the county not the other way around.

Just in the door from templenoe. Game of poor standard overall templenoe decimated by the county panel and a mitchels team that seemed to be of full strength struggled to get into the game and found themselves down by one with only seconds remaining and needed 17 year old michael kelleher to step up to kick a last minute free to snatch a draw. Patrick Clifford was outstanding for the home side tonight and really was their driving force from wing back hard to know why the senior panel aren't looking at him. For mitchels James duggan although kicking a few wides was good for the tralee side and kelleher played well when he came on also. Surely mitchels will have to find a starting spot for Kelleher although with the likes of Alan o Donoghue James duggan and niall sheehy all have represented kerry at some stage it is a tough forward line to break into

Dr.Crokes 2-12 Dingle 0-7. Easy win for Crokes. Both teams missing regulars. Crokes started brightly. Paul Clarke with a point. David Shaw with a goal and a point and after 20 minutes Crokes were 2-3 to 0-1 up.
Colm Cooper with a point. David Shaw Mark O'Shea and Cooper again and it was game over. 2-7 to 0-1 at half time.
Young Jack Griffin and Mike Potts were to the fore for Crokes in the second half as Crokes emptied the bench and gave some youth a chance.
Dingle were missing a good few. Crokes were missing 5 or 6 as well. I'm sure it will be a different story when they meet again.

Good to see Eoin Brosnan still playing.

I think every year you need to bring in at least 1 or 2 young fellas to keep it fresh. This year Crokes brought in Mike Potts Jack Griffin and Lorcan McMonagle from last years minor team.
If you want to stay at the top you need a new player every year.

Nacrocaigh, what was/is the nature of Gavin White injury and is he back playing/training in any shape or form? I think he is a serious player and I rate him better than the boys from back Wesht...

Given that the U-20s are unavailable, Kerry seniors tying up about 45 players, the start of the county hurling championship, the exodus to the US, holidays, it’s akin to playing the lotto!!

Dr.Crokes 4-17 John Mitchels 0-11
The scoreline tells the story. Mitchels couldn't live with Crokes. The movement of our Forwards and passing was too much for Mitchels who just couldn't cope with it.
Mitchels actually started well. They went two points to no score up inside the first 10 minutes.
Once Alan O'Sullivan kicked our first point in the 12th minute and Crokes got going then there was only one team going to win.
Tony Brosnan (who is having a great year) levelled it. Jordan Kiely scored a goal in the 14th minute. Another point by Kiely. A point by Johnny Buckley and another goal by Kiely in the 21st minute and it was over 2-4 to 0-3.
Points by Kiely Jason Lyne Johnny Buckley and Tony Brosnan by the 30th minute it was 2-8 to 0-4 points.
Half time score was Crokes 2-6 to Mitchels 0-5.
It got worse for Mitchels in the second half.
Johnny Buckley and Tony Brosnan scored two quick points. Mitchels replied but Tony Brosnan with 2 more points made it 2-10 to 0-6 after 10 minutes of the secound half.
Mitchels did kick the next 3 points but Tony Brosnan pointed again making it 2-11 to -0-9. Johnny Buckley Brian Fitzgerald and Gavin O'Shea and a Brian Looney goal made it 3-14 to 0-11 with 10 minutes to go.
Tony Brosnan with 2. Kieran O'Leary with another goal and Jordan Kiely with another Point finished the scoring.
Crokes look in good shape and will take stopping at this stage of the year. Tony Brosnan Jordan Kiely and Johnny Buckley played very well.

I have heard of other players who are part of the development panel who have greatly improved and are playing great stuff with their club.

I see there are no County League fixtures for next weekend yet for the weekend of the 15th July there are a full round of fixtures. That's the same weekend as the Kerry Galway Super 8 game in Croke Park plus the Kerry U20s are playing in their semi final that weekend too.

Kerins O'Rahillys 1-19, Spa 2-15
A cracking game of open football yesterday in Spa - both sides fielded without a no of regulars due to Kerry commitments/holidays; KO'R led at half time by two points, 0-11 to 1-06, Spa goal from Evan Cronin. Tommy Walsh was in fine form for the visitors along with Ross O'Callaghan at full back - second half saw KO'R pull away and they were still ahead on the 30th minute, 1-18 to 1-14 - there were six additional minutes played with Spa levelling the game in that time only for KO'R to come back and take the points with a last minute winning point. Tommy's fielding was a joy to behold both at full forward and midfield and wherever he was positioned he was most effective.

O'Rahillys are going well. Gary Kissane good keeper. Danny O'Sullivan Ross O'Callaghan Shane Brosnan Cormac Coffey Cian Sayers Karl Mullins in the backs. David Moran and Con Barrett in midfield. Barry John Keane Jack Savage John Ferguson Tom Hoare Gearoid Savage and Tommy Walsh up front. Not bad. Then you have fellas like Ryan Carroll Darragh McElligott David Murphy Sean Collins John C.O'Connor Padraig Griffin Gavin O'Brien Johnny Keane Jason O'Leary Rory O'Connor and Shane Foley gives them a good squad overall.
Crokes had the luxury of resting David Shaw Mike Potts and David Naughton. Having Kieran O'Leary and Colm Cooper on the bench. Missing the Kerry croud. They have good subs to call on when needed.

I'm not. Im just saying they are having a good year so far. Dingle at full strength would probably be the closest to Crokes right now as far as clubs go. South Kerry of course and I think East Kerry could be dark horses.
